This program trains young people in basic babysitting and home safety skills. Students completing the class will be better prepared to provide a safer and more positive infant/ child care experience. This three-hour home alone class will help your 9 to 13-year-old take the next step in independence while giving you peace of mind. Maybe get your hands dirty while making slime? Show off your videogame skills. Or just looking to hang out with some friends? Whatever your interests are, Hang Time is the spot for you! Hang Time takes place in the Commons and offers a range of activities including sports, art, videogames, board games and much more. Hang Time participants will also have the option of joining school-sponsored clubs. The month of October will feature spooky twists along with a Halloween movie favorite. Hang Time is run by City of Shoreline Staff. A small snack will be provided daily. Hang Time participants are eligible to ride the activity bus home at 5:00pm. After the Shorewood and Shorecrest football game on Friday, October 20th, 2023, Shoreline Recreation will be having a party for high school students at the Spartan Recreation Center, right next to the Shoreline Stadium at 202 NE 18th St. It is a free event with food and dancing throughout the night! Hang Time is a free program that offers a planned "Activity of the Day" each day like Trivia, or a badminton tournament as well as a range of other options always available including sports, art, videogames, ping pong/air hockey, and board games to choose from. 1. Under each activity in the brochure there are the appropriate times for scheduling Access. There is a “dropoff appointment time” and a “pick-up window.” In order for our programs to continue to run smoothly, please only use these times when setting up a ride. Do note that Access can do either a “drop-off window” or a “drop-off appointment time.” Please only use the “drop-off appointment time.”
2. If a participant arrives too early, there is a chance that the facility will not be open and the program staff will not have arrived yet. A late fee may be issued to those who scheduled their ride after the times outlined in the brochure.
3. If for some reason a rider has consistent problems with program times, arriving too early or being picked up too late; their parent/guardian/staff will receive a phone call to discuss the situation.

Ptarmigan Ridge Hike
We’re headed to the North Cascades to hike Ptarmigan Ridge on the east side of Mount Baker. This hike is stunningly beautiful, but sits at 5,000 feet elevation and is a total distance is 7 miles, so we’ve rated this hike difficult for the distance and altitude. The elevation gain of 1,800ft is moderately gradual and includes full views of the surrounding mountains, alpine lakes and wildflowers that surround the rocky trails. Bring a sack lunch and lots of snacks and water. Transportation and trip leader provided.

Sharp Park Hike + La Conner
Sharp Park on Fidalgo Island (near Anacortes) has several miles of trails that showcase the highly diverse environment of the park. We’ll hike through forests, wetlands and then head up rocky hills and along coastal bluffs to Sares Head where you’ll be treated with wide open views of the San Juan Islands, Olympic Mountains and Rosario Strait. This hike is about 3 miles long with some steep hills and challenging rocky areas. After the hike, we’ll head into the town of La Conner for lunch and site seeing. Bring money for lunch. Gold Creek Pond is known for its snow shoeing, but we’re going to check out what lies beneath the snow. After we’ll head into the town of Snoqualmie for lunch at Snoqualmie Brewing and a visit to the quaint railway museum in town. Bring money for lunch. Transportation and trip leader provided.

Lake View Cemetery History Tour
As perhaps Seattle’s most famous cemetery, Lake View is the final resting place of many prominent early Seattleites, including the Dennys, Mercers and Yeslers. It’s also the resting place of martial artists Bruce and Brandon Lee. Our 1.5 hour guided walking tour will explore their stories, along with the history of the cemetery itself. Tour is along paved pathways and grass surfaces.

Wallace Falls Hike
Tucked into the foothills of the Cascade mountains are some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Washington State and Fall is the perfect time to see them. Enjoy a 5.8mile roundtrip hike to see Wallace Falls. Hike has 1,300ft. of elevation gain and includes 3 different waterfalls. We’ll have lunch at the lower falls and then continue to the middle falls and possibly the upper falls (if we feel up to the steep .5-mile climb). Easy – Flat trail, suitable for most. Accessible for wheelchairs.
Moderately Easy – Some uneven ground with small elevation gains and hills.
Moderate – Some hills, more rugged terrain with elevation gains up to 1000 ft. Must be steady on feet and have decent level of fitness.
Difficult – Steeper hills, higher elevation gains with some switchbacks and more rugged terrain. Very aerobic.

Facility Rentals
No in-person facility rentals. Rentals can be made online or over the phone.
No in-person registrations at City Hall or Richmond Highlands Recreation Center. See page 2 for facility closure dates.
Residents: August 22
Classes, camps, programs, trips or workshops/ special events cancelled by the City of Shoreline will result in a 100% refund of the program fee paid.
Cancellation Due to Weather
Refunds will not be issued for reasons of inclement weather, unless it results in the closure of the City facility hosting the event during the time of session or rental.
Class Fee First Day
Program fees may be refunded in full for any reason after the first day of class, as long as the refund is requested prior to the second day of class. Aquatics programs requests must be made at the pool registration desk. All other recreation program requests must be made at the Spartan Recreation Center registration desk.
Class Fee Second Day
After the second day of class, but prior to the third, requested refunds will be pro-rated per the registration fee paid and the total number of classes.
Class Fee Third Day
Refunds will not be issued after the third day of class, unless an exception is granted. Requests for an exception to this policy must be submitted in writing prior to the fourth class and must be approved by the RCCS Director. The City has sole discretion to decide whether or not to grant this exception.
One Day/Workshops/Single Trips
Refunds may be issued if requested at least seven (7) calendar days prior to (not including) the event date.
Point of Sale Admissions
Refund requests must be made in writing and submitted to the registration desk prior to leaving the facility on the day of use. All requests are at the discretion of the RCCS Director.
LFP Residents: August 24
Non-Summer Camps & Summer Camps
Refunds for Summer Camps requested at least fourteen (14) calendar days prior to, but not including, the first day of camp, will be subject to an administrative fee for each weekly camper registration. After the fee is applied, the remaining balance will be refunded. No refunds will be given if requested less than fourteen (14) calendar days prior to, but not including the first day of camp. In lieu of a refund, a participant may request to transfer to another camp with available space. If transferring from one camp into another, the administration fee will be waived. The transfer must be made at the same time as the cancellation and for the same participants.
Permit Cancellation
Rental use and Park and Open Space NonExclusive Use Permits canceled by the Renter at least seven (7) or more calendar days in advance of event will be refunded in full. Permits canceled by the Renter less than seven (7) calendar days prior, but not including the rental day, will not receive a refund. Any Security Deposit received for this rental will be 100% refunded.
Registration Associated with Special Events
All registrations associated with special events are non-refundable.
10 Punch Passes
All 10 punch passes expire on December 31st of the calendar year purchased with the remaining punches value refunded.
Wait-list Refunds
For those that are on a class waitlist that attend after the start date, requests for refund shall be treated as if the first day of attendance is the first day of class.
Pro-rated Refunds
Class fee refunds will not be pro-rated when registering after the start date except for those entering from the wait-list.

Non-Residents: August 25
Refund due to Injury or Illness
Refunds will not be issued for injury or illness incurred outside of participation in the program unless it is diagnosed as a communicable disease by a medical professional.
Refund of Security Deposits
The City will inspect the permitted area in the Rental Use Permit after usage to determine if any damage occurred. If damage occurred, the City will assess a cost to fix the damage and retain that amount from the Security Deposit. Any remainder of the Security Deposit will be refunded. Should no damage occur, 100% of Security Deposit will be refunded.
No Pro-Rated Membership Refunds
All memberships are for the specified amount of time from purchase date. Pro-rated refunds are not permitted for unused portion of purchased time.
Exemptions
Requested exemptions from this policy may be submitted in writing to the Recreation Superintendent and require approval by the RCCS Director.
Concession Permits
The City may, at its sole discretion, cancel a permit anytime due to an emergency, severe weather which merits either School District or City facility closures, power outage, or situations that may result in facility damage or personal injury as determined by the RCCS Director. In such instances, the permittee will be entitled to a 100% refund. All other permit refunds must be requested 30 days prior to scheduled use.
Athletic Field and Tennis Court Rental Use Permit Cancellation
Athletic Field and Tennis Court Rental Use Permits canceled by the Renter less than seven (7) calendar days, but at least 24 hours prior to the date/time of the rental will be issued a 50% refund of fees or $50, whichever is less. Rental Use Permits canceled 24 hours or less prior to the date/time will not receive a refund. Any Security Deposit received for this rental will be 100% refunded.
