Art with Me

Enrich your child's preschool experience with Mudskippers Outdoor Preschool. Our teachers work with students to give them imaginative and cooperative playtime in the woods, as well as nature themed stories, activities, songs and poems. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to leap right into outdoor learning and have fun at local Shoreline parks! SoccerTots is our flagship program! These soccer-themed motor skill classes are very easy for youngsters to get into. Younger age groups focus on developing motor skills and self-con dence; older classes focus more on developing core soccer skills and personal focus and introduce an element of light competition. Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to maximize individual development, and above all else we promote fun, fun, fun! Parent participation required for ages 2-3.5 years.

Spend your school break with us at Camp Shoreline. Each day is lled with playing indoor/outdoor games and getting creative with lots of arts, crafts, cooking and wild activities in our classroom. Camp is led by trained sta and meets at the Spartan Recreation Center. Please bring a water bottle, snacks, and a sack lunch. Be sure to wear tennis shoes/sneakers and dress in layers for indoor and outdoor play.

**Participants need to be in kindergarten or have completed kindergarten to participate in this program. This program is not for children who are still in preschool.**

Our sta run activities catered to Middle School aged youth and create a safe, supervised space for your youth to hang out with friends, meet new people, and have a great time!Middle School night is on Saturday nights from 6pm-10:30pm. If you plan on rooting your school during the Shorecrest vs. Shorewood football game on Friday, October 25th, 2024, you should check out the After Game Party in the SPARTAN Recreation Center! Swing by after the game for a night of open gym games, music with a dance oor, and hot pizza! All for free! You can nd us right next to the Shoreline Stadium at the SPARTAN Rec. Center at 202 NE 185th St. Just follow the lights and music when leaving the stadium.The party starts right after the game and goes until 11pm. Hang Time @ Kellogg

Are you a Kellogg MS student looking to start the school year hanging out with friends, competing in engineering challenges, playing video games and board games, or even just trying to chill out? No need to continue your search, welcome to Hang Time! Hang Time is available after school Tuesdays, Wednesdays (including early release), and Thursdays till 4:50pm with the option to take the activity bus home at 5pm. Hang Time takes place in the commons of Kellogg MS, and o ers a wide range of activities including sports, are, videogames, board games and much more. Hang Time participants will have the option to stay and join one of our many activities, or you have the freedom to join any of the school sponsored clubs. Hang Time is run by City of Shoreline sta and will provide a daily snack. Hang Time participants must be registered to attend and must register each quarter. Want a fun spot to hang out after school? Sign up for Hang Time at Einstein! Hang Time is a free program that o ers a planned "Activity of the Day" each day like Trivia, badminton tournament, or painting project as well as a range of other options always available including sports, art, videogames, and board games to choose from. A small snack will be provided each day. Students who participate in Hang Time can also choose to attend clubs run by Einstein MS sta . Hang Time runs immediately after school on Tuesday, Wednesday (including early release time), and Thursday each week. Students must be registered to attend, with registration occurring quarterly. SAGE is the Shoreline Teen Center's awesome LGBTQ+ and allies club. Come visit us during our drop-in hours to meet new people, hang out with friends, and participate in fun activities. If you are interested in any class but hesitate to register because of a developmental or physical limitation, please call the Spartan Recreation Center at (206) 801-2600 for help in getting started. 1. Under each activity in the brochure there are the appropriate times for scheduling Access. There is a “dropo appointment time” and a “pick-up window.” In order for our programs to continue to run smoothly, please only use these times when setting up a ride. Do note that Access can do either a “drop-o window” or a “drop-o appointment time.” Please only use the “drop-o appointment time.”

2. If a participant arrives too early, there is a chance that the facility will not be open and the program sta will not have arrived yet. A late fee may be issued to those who scheduled their ride after the times outlined in the brochure.

3. If for some reason a rider has consistent problems with program times, arriving too early or being picked up too late; their parent/guardian/sta will receive a phone call to discuss the situation.

Practicing Yoga is a great way to bring greater comfort and ease to the body and mind. Parks Bond Update

Ridgecrest Park and Kruckeberg Botanical Garden are now fully open to the public!

Kruckeberg Botanical Garden has a new accessible walkway from the upper to lower garden with plenty of space to stop and view the trees from 15 feet above the ground.

Ridgecrest Park has a new o -leash dog area, children’s play area, walking path, benches, and refurbished handball court.

Construction at Richmond Highlands Park, James Keough Park, and Brugger’s Bog Park will start in the summer and fall of 2024. These parks will be closed to the public during construction.

Lake Serene Mine & Bridal Veil Falls

Head out to the cascade foothills to hike up Bridal Veil Falls and visit the Lake Serene Mine. This abandoned copper mine was active during the early 20th century and has some relics that can be spotted along the way to the small mine entrance. We’ll take a peak in the mine and learn a bit about its history. This hike is 4 miles roundtrip with about 1000ft of elevation gain. The trail is rough with stairs and there will be areas where you’ll need to climb over large tree roots and very uneven surfaces. Please bring a ashlight if you plan on joining us in exploring the mine. Wearing sturdy hiking shoes will be necessary. Transportation and trip leader included.

Leavenworth & Icicle Gorge Hike

Head over the mountains to Leavenworth for a beautiful late summer hike in the Icicle Creek Valley. The 4 mile loop trail has lots on interpretive signage to learn about the wildlife and conservation e orts in the area. At only 100 ft. elevation gain, it’s an easy hike. After we’ll visit the town for some lunch and shopping. Transportation and trip leader provided. Bring money for food and shopping.

A challenging hike in the North Cascades with gorgeous views of the golden Larch trees and turquoise waters of Blue Lake. This hike is worth the long drive but participants need to have a high level of tness to climb the 1000ft. of elevation gain to get to the lake. 4.4miles. Transportation and trip leader included. North Cascades River Expeditions will lead us down eight miles of the Upper Skagit River. These class 3 and 4 rapids are part of the US Wild and Scenic River system rich with views of mountains, old growth forests and wildlife. This trip is suitable for adventurous beginners and veterans. Transportation, trip leader, river rafting, equipment and riverside lunch provided. Participants should wear a swimsuit or compression type clothing to be able to slip wetsuit over and bring a eece sweatshirt and windbreaker type of jacket to go over wetsuit. Port Angeles Underground Tour

Get a little dirt on the buried history of Port Angeles. In the early 1900’s, the City of Port Angeles had to “elevate” their streets due to ooding creating a network of underground tunnels and storefronts. Take a tour of some of the original structures and learn about this incredible feat of engineering. Guided walking tour is 2.5 hours long and includes stairs. After we’ll have time to wander the downtown shops and get a bite to eat. Transportation, trip leader and tour fees included.

Refund Due to City Cancellation

Classes, camps, programs, trips or workshops/ special events cancelled by the City of Shoreline will result in a 100% refund of the program fee paid.

Cancellation Due to Weather

Refunds will not be issued for reasons of inclement weather, unless it results in the closure of the City facility hosting the event during the time of session or rental.

Class Fee First Day

Program fees may be refunded in full for any reason after the rst day of class, as long as the refund is requested prior to the second day of class.

Class Fee Second Day

After the second day of class, but prior to the third, requested refunds will be pro-rated per the registration fee paid and the total number of classes.

Class Fee Third Day

Refunds will not be issued after the third day of class, unless an exception is granted. Requests for an exception to this policy must be submitted in writing prior to the fourth class and must be approved by the RCCS Director. The City has sole discretion to decide whether or not to grant this exception.

One Day/ Workshops/Single Trips

Refunds will be issued if the request is received at least fourteen (14) calendar days before the activity day.

Drop-In Admissions

Refund requests must be made at the registration desk prior to leaving the facility on the day of use. All refund requests are at the discretion of the City.

No in-person facility rentals. Rentals can be made online or over the phone.

No in-person registrations at City Hall or Richmond Highlands Recreation Center. See page 2 for facility closure dates.

Camps

Camp refunds are subject to an administration fee per participant, per camp except transfers, if applicable. A full refund, less the administration fee, will be issued if the request is received at least fourteen (14) calendar days before the rst day of camp. No refund will be issued if the request is received less than 14 calendar days before the rst day of camp. Transfers (Summer Camps). A participant may request to transfer to another camp with available space if the request is received at least fourteen (14) calendar days before the rst day of camp. If transferring from one camp into another, the administration fee will be waived. The transfer must be made at the same time as the withdrawal and for the same participant.

Permit Cancellation

Indoor Facilities: Refunds will be issued if the Facility Indoor Use Permit is canceled at least fourteen (14) days before the day of the event. Any Security Deposit received for this rental will be fully refunded. Outdoor Facility: Refunds will be issued if the Rental Use and Park and Open Space Non-Exclusive Use Permit is canceled at least seven (7) calendar days before the day of the event. Any Security Deposit received for this rental will be fully refunded. Please review Athletic Field and Tennis Court Rental Use Permit Cancellation for exceptions.

Registration Associated with Special Events

All registrations associated with special events are non-refundable.

Waitlist Refunds

For those that are on a class waitlist that attend after the start date, requests for refund shall be treated as if the rst day of attendance is the rst day of class.

Pro-Rated Refunds

Class fee refunds will not be pro-rated when registering after the start date except for those entering from the wait-list.

Refund of Security Deposits

The City will inspect the designated facility/ area in the Rental Use Permit after usage to determine if any damage occurred. If damage occurred, the City will assess the cost to mitigate the damage and retain that amount from the Security Deposit. The Security Deposit may also be retained if all conditions of the permit are not adhered to, or an extra on-site sta is required during the permitted time. Any remainder of the Security Deposit will be refunded. Should no damage occur, all conditions of the permit are met, and extra sta time is not required, the Security Deposit will be fully refunded.

No Pro-Rated Membership Refunds

All memberships are for the speci ed amount of time from purchase date. Pro-rated refunds are not permitted for unused portion of purchased time.

Exemptions

Requested exemptions from this policy may be submitted in writing to the Recreation Superintendent and require approval by the RCCS Director.

Concession Permits

The City may, at its sole discretion, cancel a permit anytime due to an emergency, severe weather which merits either School District or City facility closures, power outage, or situations that may result in facility damage or personal injury as determined by the RCCS Director. In such instances, the permittee will be entitled to a 100% refund. All other permit refunds must be requested 30 days prior to scheduled use.

Athletic Field and Tennis Court

Rental Use Permit Cancellation

Athletic Field and Tennis Court Rental Use Permits canceled by the Renter less than seven (7) calendar days, but at least 24 hours prior to the date/time of the rental will be issued a 50% refund of fees or $50, whichever is less. Rental Use Permits canceled 24 hours or less prior to the date/time will not receive a refund. Any Security Deposit received for this rental will be 100% refunded.
