Summer 2017 May–August
City of Southlake Community Services Department

INTRODUCTION
Visit our Parks this Summer. Here are 5 of my favorites!
What better way to soak up some sun than in a Southlake Park?
Bicentennial Park – This 71 acre Community Park contains basketball courts, pavilions, picnic tables, multi-use trails and one of its most unique features is the new playground! It’s a perfect place for a summer birthday party or play date. (See back page for details)
Lonesome Dove Park – A quiet secluded park perfect for a picnic or grilling out. It’s an excellent place to enjoy the outdoors while walking the trails or playing on the playground.
Royal and Annie Smith Park – Come check out and enjoy our largest neighborhood park! With the recent renovation it includes a new playground, pavilions and multi-use trails.
Bob Jones Park – This park is for the entire family. If you aren’t too busy playing on the playground or fishing at the fishing pier, take a stroll down some of the trails or stop by the shaded dog park.
North Park – This Community Park draws most attention for the large multi-purpose athletic fields but also includes dog stations, a playground, picnic tables and more! Bring the family out for an afternoon of fun athletic competition.
Summer is a great time to check out all of the fun and exciting amenities our parks have to offer.
Community Services Mission Statement It is the mission of the Community Services Department to provide and support abundant, safe and wellmaintained park land and trails; offer progressive social and cultural opportunities; provide books, materials and services to residents in their pursuit of information; and implement recreational and educational programs that collectively enrich the lives of all patrons.

GREEN INITIATIVES participate in
Keep K eep Southlake Beautiful Southlake ADOPT-A-STREET Beautiful Keep Southlake Beautiful is a City of Southlake volunteer program dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Southlake residents through green initiatives and beautification projects. The City relies on our strong volunteer base in order to make these programs a success.
Adopt-a-Street is a free program that allows organizations, businesses, groups, families and individuals to adopt and maintain areas within the Southlake community. This is similar to the Don’t Mess with Texas Adopt-A-Highway Program. Southlake is growing, and a surging population which means more cars on the roadways and unfortunately, more trash. Volunteer efforts reduce litter cleanup costs and save taxpayers money. The City of Southlake encourages you to become a partner and Adopt-a-Street. When you become an Adopt-a-Street partner, the following commitment is expected: • Participation in a minimum of four cleanups per year — Citywide cleanups are usually held in January, April, July and October. At your request, trash bags, gloves and safety vests will be provided to you at no charge. • Completion of a Quarterly Cleanup Report after each event — The Quarterly Cleanup Report asks you to record the number of volunteers, cumulative volunteer hours and bags of trash collected during each cleanup event.
For more information on and to find out how you can get involved, visit our website at CityofSouthlake.com/ksb or contact the Southlake Parks and Recreation office at 817.748.8019.
