Get Ready for Battle: Battle of the Books Discussion

Date: January 10 & 24, February 7 & 28, March 7 Time: 6:30 PM Location: Suffolk Public Library [LIVE Online] Join us for our Battle of the Books (BOB) discussion programs to get ready to compete against other fourth and fifth graders in the Suffolk Battle to be held in the spring. Come to each meeting prepared to discuss the stated novel and answer challenging questions. Registration for Battle of the Books is required. 4th-5th graders. Books to be reviewed in each session: January 10th: Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt January 24th: Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy by Tui T. Sutherland February 7th: Treasure Hunters by James Patterson & Chris Grabenstein February 28th: The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick March 7th: When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson & Omar Mohamed Registered participants will provide their email address to receive a link to a Zoom meeting at least 15 minutes before the program begins.

We will be recording this session to possibly share publicly on Suffolk Public Library’s online platforms or with registered participants. If you wouldn’t like your (or your child’s) image to be recorded, please turn off the video function on your Zoom account. If you wouldn’t like your (or your child’s) voice to be recorded, please keep your microphone on mute and submit comments/ questions utilizing the chat feature. Battle of the Books (BOB) promotes reading through introducing different genres and new literature in a game show style reading competition for fourth and fifth grade students. Teams of no more than five students are formed and encouraged to read and answer questions based upon selected titles. We welcome teams formed by schools, as well as individual students who would like to join a Library organized team. Register online at suffolkpubliclibrary.com/BOB

Date: Various Dates January - April Time: 2 PM Location: Morgan Memorial Library, North Suffolk Library, Offsite Homeschool Hub is a place to connect with other homeschoolers, participate in hands-on activities, and enrich your curriculum. This season we will be focusing on music. Registration for all Homeschool Hub programs (Library sessions and field trips) is now required. Please register participating students. Grades PK-12th. Homeschool Hub will be in person at both the North Suffolk Library (on Wednesdays) and the Morgan Memorial Library (on Tuesdays). If you are more comfortable participating with Homeschool Hub via Zoom, then our program at Morgan Memorial on Tuesdays will have a LIVE component. To participate via Zoom, registration required to receive a link to a Zoom meeting. The link will be sent at least 15 minutes before the program begins to all those registered and on the waitlist.
