Suffolk Art League’s Annual Antique Show & Sale
Date: February 26-27 Time: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Sat); 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM (Sun) Ages: All Cost: Free Location: King’s Fork Middle School at 350 Kings Fork Road Sponsored by the Suffolk Art League, the Annual Antique Show and Sale will feature approximately 40 antiques and collectibles dealers from the mid-Atlantic region. Crystal and clock repair will also be available. In addition, the Peanut Pals (Planter’s Peanut collectors) will be displaying and selling items. Concession is available on site with BBQ, Brunswick Stew, and more.

Best-selling author Juliet Blackwell will headline the 8th Annual Suffolk Mystery Authors Festival. A partnership between the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts and Suffolk Tourism, this unique festival appeals to avid readers and aspiring writers alike, with events such as book signings, author meet & greets, workshops, and moderated panel discussions. This popular annual event will feature an additional 39 best-selling authors of mystery, suspense/thriller, paranormal, horror, historical, romance, and women’s fiction. In addition to kicking off the Opening Session, where she will be interviewed by co-author (and sister) Carolyn J. Lawes, Blackwell will be signing her latest and most popular titles during the afternoon signing sessions, along with all Featured Authors.
New York Times bestselling author Juliet Blackwell writes the Witchcraft Mystery series and the Haunted Home Renovation Mysteries. She also writes mainstream novels set in France, including Off The Wild Coast of Brittany and the upcoming The Paris Showroom. As one-half of Hailey Lind, Blackwell wrote the Art Lover’s Mystery series—including the Agatha-nominated Feint of Art—with her sister, Carolyn J. Lawes. Movie Series: Star Wars at the Center
Join Suffolk Tourism, in partnership with the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, as they proudly present Star Wars at the Center, a series of epic space adventures that became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon and defined a new generation of cinema blockbusters. The Empire Strikes Back
Date: Friday, February 11 The Empire has forced the Rebellion into hiding, and Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and their friends face attack by the Imperial forces on the ice planet Hoth. While Han and Leia escape in the Millennium Falcon, Luke travels to the Dagobah System in search of Yoda. The cast includes Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford. This 1980 film is rated PG and has a running time of 124 minutes.

Chowan University Choir

Glenn Miller Orchestra
Date: Saturday, April 30 Time: 8:00 PM Ages: All Cost: $32$48 Location: Suffolk Center The legendary Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all dance bandleaders back in the Swing Era of the 1930s and ‘40s. Today, the 18-member ensemble continues to play many of the original Miller arrangements both from the civilian band and the AAFB libraries, along with some more modern selections arranged and performed in the Miller style and sound. Today, as it was during Glenn’s day, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most sought after big band in the world.

The Suffolk Art League provides lectures to the residents of Suffolk and beyond at no cost, as part of their community outreach and dedication to arts education. The Melissa Darden Odom program has been organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is supported in part by their Paul Mellon Endowment and the Jean Stafford Camp Memorial Fund, and is funded by the generosity of the Melissa Darden Odom Speaker Series Memorial Fund. Dr. Peter Schertz — “Those Gaudy Ancients: Exploring the Color of Antiquities”

Mark will deliver a lecture on the conservation of Red Support No. 15 by Suffolk artist Judith Godwin.
