Vallejo Fire Department Academy Class 2023-1
Live Fire Training
The Vallejo Fire Department hosts an ALA accredited California State Fire Marshal approved training academy for all newly hired Firefighter/Paramedics. The 16-week academy is designed to provide all basic skill sets necessary for newly hired firefighters to carry forward through their career serving the community of Vallejo. Each academy builds up to an intense week of live fire training. During the week of July 10–14, the 2023-1 Vallejo Fire Academy Class underwent the intensive “real world” style live fire training known as “Fire Control 3.” The class entails multiple days working inside and around a specialized building designed to host a series of training evolutions with active fire.
This year, the Hayward Fire Department was gracious enough to serve as the host department, allowing our recruits and their training cadre to make use of Hayward’s new state-of- the-art training facility. This facility offers training features in structural collapse, structure fires, BART rescue, rail car fires, strip mall incidents and much more.
The Vallejo Fire Department looks to open recruitment in the near future for entry level Paramedic Firefighters and maintains an ongoing open Lateral Paramedic process. Potential candidates can find information related to current and future hiring at: www.cityofvallejo.net/FireHire
Become a Vallejo PAL Soccer Referee
Vallejo PAL is in need of referees for the upcoming soccer season. Referees must be 13 years or older and complete a 2-part course to receive their license. While referees are paid for each game they work, PAL has a Special Incentive for anyone who signs up–once you referee 10 games for this season, you will receive a BONUS of the price you paid for your course!
The course is two parts–the first part is a self-guided, online training and takes approximately 8 hours to complete. The second part is an In-Person Field training which is on Sunday, July 23, 2023. If you are under 18 it is $75 and if you are 18 or over it is $95. The referee license is good for most soccer clubs in California and will be good through 2024.
This is a win-win opportunity: get paid for refereeing, choose what games/times to referee, and earn back the price of your class while helping the Vallejo PAL organization and Vallejo youth!
A minimum of 10 people are needed to hold the course, so please sign up ASAP!
If you have any questions regarding refereeing, please email Van, the Ref Coordinator, at: referee-van@bagnol.org
