HOW TO REGISTER

for City of Waterloo programs

1. Touch Tone Telephone Service at 519-747-8585 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. —7 days a week In order to use this service, you will require a Family PIN and a Client Number for each family member. If you have not received these numbers, call 519-886-1177 prior to registration to set up your account. 2. In Person Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex and RIM Park are open daily for registrations from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Adult Recreation Centre, Wing 404 RCAFA Adult Centre, and Albert McCormick Community Centre are open MondayFriday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 3. Internet Registration— http://expressreg.waterloo.ca In order to use this service, you will require a Family PIN and a Client Number for each family member. Fee Assistance Leisure Access Program Fee assistance is available to Waterloo residents with low income participating in City of Waterloo and affiliated minor sports and arts programs. To apply for Fee Assistance, you must complete an application form* and submit it prior to registration. Once approved, you will receive a Leisure Access Card to show at the time of registration to verify the fee assistance payment. TIME OUT A chance for mothers, fathers and caregivers of children aged newborn to six years to interact with each other through creative play and action games. The program offers unrestricted floor space, allowing children to develop their gross motor skills. Parents are required to supervise children at all times.

Art Factory

Explore a new media each week in this exciting and creative class! Students will work with a local art instructor to experiment with collage, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, painting and a collaborative project. Develop skills while making art, making friends, making messes and having FUN.

Sketchbook Class

Each student will receive their own sketchbook and work with a local art instructor to fill it with portraits, drawings done on site, and from the imagination. Learn how to develop and maintain a sketchbook like a true artist while experimenting with drawing techniques.

Stretchfit—Mom & Daughter

This class will focus on strength training using a combination of gravity and your own body weight. It’s suitable for beginners and more advanced fitness buffs; all exercises have modifications, making them appropriate for various fitness levels. Spend quality time with the young woman in your life as you Get Fit Together. Registration begins March 7, 2013.

PLAY BALL LIKE THE BLUE JAYS General Registration Information Waterloo Minor Baseball Association program registers youngsters from age 4 through 19 years of age starting with a fundamental program for ages 4 & 5. Ages 6 & 7 play T-Ball. Ages 8 & 9 play Rookie Ball (pitcher is a machine) that pitches 35 & 40 miles per hour. Ages 10-19 play baseball – over-hand pitching with set base paths and pitching distances for each division. Youngsters ages 8-19 play in a house league program by age group. Teams are formed through an evaluation/draft process (to be determined) with both Waterloo & Kitchener registrants. Important Notes to Parents for the 2013 Season T-Ball Program – T-Ball will be a combined division with Kitchener Minor Baseball for the 2013 season. Games will take place in both cities. The T-Ball league will consist of a 6 year old Minor T-Ball & 7 year old Major T-Ball league.

NOTES: Practice time in house league depends upon the coach – practices are usually Saturday mornings-sometimes during the week depending on the number of teams in each league and diamond availability. Minor &Major Bantam House League division(s) may be grouped as one division pending the number of registrants. This week we will be spending some time with special guests who will teach us about different art forms. Come prepared for a messy week of fun, games, swimming, and of course crafts.

Skateboarding Camp

Location: WMRC Ages: 7-12 Cost: $174 Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dates: July 8-12 and July 29-August 2, 2013 If your child loves to skateboard or wants to learn, come and join our leaders for this new camp. Learn from a qualified skateboard instructor in our new skateboard park for ½ the day, and then play camp games, go swimming, and do crafts with our amazing staff for the rest of the day. Come and learn the basics of this fun sport in a safe environment. All campers must bring their own helmet and skateboard.

NEW! Weird, Wacky, Wild Camp

Location: RIM Park Ages: 7-12 Cost: $174 Time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dates: July 2-5, 2013 Come prepared to be a little wild and wacky this week. Have fun with some messy experiments, weird games, and your wacky leaders. Don’t miss out on this one-week camp filled to the brim with WACKY stuff!

The Yellow Fish Road™ program is a hands-on environmental activity for youth ages 7 and up. Participants paint “yellow fish” symbols next to storm drains and distribute informative brochures to nearby households. Rain water enters road storm drains and flows directly to streams and ponds, untreated. Help teach residents to keep storm water clean by organizing a painting activity in your neighbourhood! Complete painting kits and Yellow Fish Road™ resources are available to help you prepare for painting day!

After consultation with our affiliated community sport organizations, the City of Waterloo and the City of Kitchener will no longer be holding joint Spring and Fall Minor Sports Registration Days at Conestoga Mall. Throughout the year, both cities wil work together to provide other registration opportunities. For an understanding of a particular sport’s registration period and policies, we recommend visiting their home website. FAMILY DAY WINTERLOO SPORT TRY-IT!
