Environment & Parks Services— Stewardship Programs Improve your local park— Organize a Partners in Parks project!

Partners in Parks

Short-term Stewardship Activities The Yellow Fish Road™ program is a hands-on environmental project for youth aged 7 and up, to help educate residents about water pollution in their community. Yellow Fish Road™ participants paint “yellow fish” symbols next to storm drains and distribute informative brochures to nearby households. Why the Yellow Fish Road™? In most cities, storm drains connect directly to the local waterbody untreated. Anything like litter, salt, soap and fertilizer that runs off lawns, driveways, sidewalks or roads, end up in the local waterbody. These wastes can not only harm fish and wildlife, but reduce our drinking water quality. Get Involved Complete paint kits and Yellow Fish Road™ resources are available to help you prepare for painting day.

n Litter clean up n Mulching public trails n Planting native vegetation n Stream enhancement activities n Bird house maintenance

Long-term Projects n Planting & maintaining garden beds/ buffers n Adopt a Greenspace n Invasive Plant Species Management n Turf maintenance n Special projects Follow the Partners in Parks Community Guide to learn more about how to get involved in your neighbourhood greenspace!
