The Westerville Division of Police (WPD) earned its first-ever national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). The accreditation program requires agencies to comply with more than 180 state-ofthe-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. Only 5% of law enforcement agencies in the United States meet standards for CALEA accreditation. Read more online: www.westerville.org/police.

Ohio American Legion Recognizes WPD Officer Geoff Pichert

Officer Geoffrey Pichert

The American Legion Department of Ohio selected WPD officer Geoffrey Pichert as the 2021 “Law Officer of the Year.” Officer Pichert was nominated by his peers, and will be recognized at an awards banquet on Saturday, Jan. 22. Officer Pichert works second shift at WPD, where he serves as Field Training Officer for newly hired officers. He also works on the WPD recruitment team. In addition to this award, Officer Pichert has received one personal recognition, two commendations and an exceptional duty award.
