Fair Rental Practices in Westerville

Westerville City Council passed legislation in 2019 that protects your right to housing regardless of your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, familial status, disability, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. In 2020, this legislation was updated to include protections based on how you pay your rent.

This update offers protections in the case of a landlord declining to consider a tenant’s income f from lawful sources other than job wages – income from sources such as investment earnings, child/spousal support and federal, state or local assistance payments, benefits or subsidy programs. Restrictions that would apply to the sale or financing of property is not part of the W Westerville Ordinance.
