GRAND PARK FAQ’S

Why build Grand Park? Westfield has a low commercial tax base because of our low number of commercial businesses. The only way to lower our tax bills is to bring in businesses to our community. We are constantly competing with other cities for economic development projects, and Westfield’s Grand Park sports campus will provide the City with a competitive advantage in the economic development marketplace. This will allow the City to diversify its tax base and ultimately lower tax bills for our residents. We need to provide a unique place where businesses want to locate and Grand Park is that place. Will my taxes be affected? Residents’ taxes will not be raised to pay for Grand Park. In fact, the project will bring commercial businesses to Westfield, diversifying our tax base, and lowering our tax bills. Where is the specific location for Grand Park? Grand Park will sit on 350 acres surrounded by 1400 acres of developable land. The entire area borders SR32 on the south, 191st Street on the north, Springmill on the west and US31 on the east. When will it be completed? Construction will begin in fall of 2011 and we are expected to have fields ready for play in 2012. For more information, please visit www.GrandPark.org

ATTENTION GOLF CART OWNERS!

Effective August 1, 2011, the City will begin enforcing the new Golf Cart Ordinance. The ordinance states that you must have a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart; a golf cart must be insured to meet state standards for automobiles; it must be inspected by the Westfield Police who will issue a city street permit ($25 for a two year permit); Additionally, it must have headlights, taillights, turn signals and a safety feature after dark. Golf carts will not be allowed on the named trail system and are only allowed to operate on streets 25 mph or less. 804-3200.
