WESTFIELD’S GRAND PARK GENERATES $43M IN VISITOR SPENDING Westfield, IN- A third party economic impact study has found that Westfield’s Grand Park Sports Campus is delivering on its promise of economic development. In a report provided to city officials last week, the youth sports magnet has spurred $43,932,143 million in visitor spending, and also contributed $5.2 million in state and local tax revenues for 2014. “I am very encouraged by this information,” said Mayor Andy Cook. “Grand Park was always intended to generate economic development and strengthen Westfield’s tax base. It seems to be doing just that.” “We look forward to continued success in 2015 and beyond,” Cook said. The report, which was prepared by Phoenix, Ariz.-based Applied Economics, also cites the creation of 930 jobs due to the development of Grand Park. Estimates show 906,796 visits to the park in 2014. Grand Park officially opened in June of 2014. The 400 acre campus includes 31 grass and synthetic field sport fields and 26 baseball and softball diamonds. In coming years, the area surrounding the sports campus will feature hotels, retail, restaurants, and mixed-use commercial development that will allow Westfield to fully realize the economic development potential of Grand Park.
