Seasons evoca un recorrido visual a través de las estaciones del año. Desde los primeros brotes y las tonalidades que florecen la primavera, pasando por la luz y el calor del verano, hasta la fría oscuridad que desnuda los árboles en otoño e invierno.

El apetito por la experimentación ha llevado a Edward Olive a alcanzar nuevas dimensiones en el registro artístico de los espacios urbanos, dotando a un simple destello de la naturaleza en una obra de arte.

Ampliamente conocido como un fotógrafo de bodas no convencional, Edward dedica cada vez más tiempo a capturar tomas espontáneas en el backstage de su trabajo.

Luego de experimentar adaptando lentes análogos a sus cámaras digitales, en el otoño de 2006 adquirió su primera cámara de rollo, una Lomo LCA rusa de los ochenta. A partir de entonces nunca volvió atrás, dedicándose a fotografiar casi exclusivamente con cámaras analógicas, cargadas, en lo posible, con películas expiradas.

Para la serie *Seasons* Edward utilizó principalmente una Hasselblad 500 cm de medio formato con lestes Carl Zeiss t*. También utilizó una Mamiya m645 y, en algunos casos, una Pentacon con lentas Carl Zeiss Jena. Una de las imágenes fue tomada con una Hasselblad Xpan de 35mm. Todas las imágenes fueron captadas con luz natural, sin flashes ni equipos de iluminación.

Seasons evokes a photographic journey through the times of the year. From the first outbreaks and shades that bloom spring passing by the light and heat of the summer trough the cold darkness that strips the trees in fall and winter.

The appetite for experimentation has led Edward Olive to achieve new dimensions in the artistic description of urban spaces, transforming a simple glimpse of nature in a work of art.

Widely known as an unconventional wedding photographer, Edward increasingly assign more time to capture alternative shots in the backstage of their work.

After experimenting adapting analog lenses to their digital cameras, in autumn 2006 he bought his first film camera, a 1980’s Russian point-and-shoot (a cult Lomo LCA), using some very expired color film they were throwing out of the local photography store. Delighted with the dreamlike qualities and vintage colors, he hasn’t looked back. He continues to shoot almost exclusively analog cameras, still preferring the oldest expired film to load them.

The Seasons series was shot mainly on medium format film -color, black and white, negative & slide- using the Hasselblad 500cm and Carl Zeiss t* lenses 80mm f2.8 and 50mm f4 and some Mamiya m645 1000s 80mm f1.9 and a couple of Pentacon six shots with Carl Zeiss Jena lenses 50mm f4 and 80mm f2.8. One of the pictures was taken with a 35mm Hasselblad xpan.

Shot exclusively using available light, without the use flashes or studio lighting.

Fuí afortunado para atrapar el momento justo del día con esta luz.

Usualmente dejo a la hasselblad elegir, ya que sabe de estas cosas mucho mejor que yo.

BLACKNESS the focus and colours i leave to hasselblad. it has a unique taste in colours, even when fed in date film as here.

I think it is nice when you can almost see something you can sort of recognize.

El enfoque y el color se lo dejo a la hasselblad. Tiene un gusto único en colores, incluso cuando la alimentas con película vencida.

Es agradable cuando casi logras ver algo reconocible.
