Cable hauling and terminating

• We have a total of 562km of cable to install.

• Currently at 525km installed.

• Emphasis now on terminating and testing of every cable.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) installed, connected and ready to liven

We have completed the installation of all four UPS.

These four UPS supply power to all emergency systems across the station.

Back-up is available for a minimum of 2 hours from the batteries alone.

Equipment installation and terminating

• Termination of distribution boards and communications cabinets are well underway.

• All 66 boards downstream of the MSBs are installed.

• The progressive livening will allow critical system poweron to be achieved.

• The main communications rooms are progressing well.

• Platform terrazzo flooring is completed on MC30 and nearing completion on MC20.

• Fire hydrant joinery units and signage droppers are underway on the platforms.

• Smoke baffle glazing has been installed at the four entry points to the platforms.

• Curved adit ceilings are scheduled to start in the next two weeks.

• Porcelain wall cladding is progressing in the Mercury Lane (MLA) and Beresford (BSQ) escalator shafts.

• Wall cladding (shadowbox) is underway on the BSQ B2 concourse.

• Ceiling installation is progressing throughout the station.

• MLA V02 lift, and BSQ V03 lift glazing is completed, with bracket installation progressing on the last lift in BSQ V01.

• Mercury Lane building's fourth element and sky element façade cladding is completed.

• Retail frameless façade glazing on MLA is installed, with final window seals in progress.

• The external wall cladding for the TVS shaft is progressing on MLA.

• BSQ and MLA main entrance stacker doors have been installed.

• BSQ service block public exeloo toilet has been installed with service connections underway.

• Designation condition 61.2.

• How disruption to businesses, residents can be avoided, remedied, mitigated.

• Specific issues:

o Disruption to traffic and access.

o Loss of customers.

o Loss of amenity.

o Impacts to community facilities.

Karanga-a-Hape Station Social Impact and Business Disruption Delivery Work Plan

Condition 61.8

• The Requiring Authority shall prepare an annual report on the identification, monitoring, evaluation and management of the effects outlined in the Social Impact and Business Disruption DWP together with a summary of matters raised by the community, and how these have been responded to. The report shall be presented to the Community Liaison Groups.

• Bi-monthly washing of hoardings and ground floor windows.

• Reminding site staff to ensure noise protection is installed at all times during noisy works.

• Continued promotion of businesses in the area including in the monthly newsletter.

• Evaluated the Small Business Support Programme to ensure it is well-suited and accessible for as many small businesses as possible.

• Continued improvements to site wayfinding including bespoke signage for businesses.

• Significant sponsorship of street wide activations in partnership with the KBA during the year such as Matariki.

• Continued supporting local using local businesses by Link Alliance as much as possible.

Excessive noise and vibration causing disruption

• Stopped noisy works upon receipt of complaint or found out how long it would be going on for.

• Reduced working times such as not working beyond 8:30pm to lessen impact.

• Removing or reducing use of certain types of machinery from the site to lessen impact.

• Reminding the construction team of the permissible working hours.

Access and Parking

Parking spots and loading zones for businesses being used by contractors and machinery

• Contacted stakeholder and apologised for inconvenience caused.

• Briefed contractors and traffic controllers on where construction vehicles can and cannot be parked.

Complaints – Link Alliance Response

Business Disruption

• Noise from an event at the pocket park was disturbing a local business.

• The Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor went to the business to discuss the issue further.

• The First Thursday Events team was contacted to ask them to minimise noise levels without compromising the event.

Questions

• Are there any additional key issues and concerns?

• Is there any mitigation has worked well?

• What can the Link Alliance do to further mitigate the disruptive impacts being experienced due to construction activities?

electrical work

• Undertaking work to replace and upgrade electricity equipment to improve the local power supply now and in the future, in coordination with CRL and AT. This includes the extension of a 22kV cable.

• This is currently taking place on East Street and then will move to Canada Street and parts of Karangahape Road in phases between now and April 2025 (timings on next slide).

• Things to expect are temporary traffic management, cyclist detours, civil work and some planned power outages.

• We’ll ensure a break over Christmas for retail operation.

• We’re also carrying out related work in Beresford Square and Poynton Terrace later in the year, in coordination with CRL.
