CLG Guidelines

Responsible CG

The CLG has been set up through a statutory process with a particular function. Meeting attendees are community representatives and may share information with the public.

Members will be advised if any information is confidential and should not be shared. Please note that the CLG is not a public forum.

The CLG is an information forum about the City Rail Link project only. All other enquires can be directed to AT customer service.

It is preferred if the same members attend the meeting each month to ensure background knowledge so that the group does not have to back track to bring people up to speed.

Planning Process

When feedback is needed, CLG members will be sent documentation in advance via email to review and prepare questions and/or feedback before a scheduled meeting.

During the meeting, prepared questions will be answered by the specialist in that area.

Members are advised to submit any long lists of questions via email to CRLProject@aucklandtransport.govt.nz before the

Up and coming construction

DI

Construction will not begin until after consultation on DWPs. The initial construction phases are: •

October 2015 – A shafts will go into the ground at the corner of Victoria and Albert Street (noisy & visible – short term) to prepare the relocation of the stormwater pipe (not noisy or visible).

Once that part is completed, the next shaft will go on the corner of Albert and Swanson Street, and then Wellesley and Albert.

May 2016 – Precinct Properties start Downtown Shopping Centre (DSC) site, constructing the CRL tunnels below.

End of 2016 – Lower Queen Street construction. Noisy and visible construction. Galway and Tyler Streets remain open

Once contractor is on board there will be more clarification – See actions.

Construction Compliance

4.1

The conditions set are legally binding. If compliance is not met by the contractors, parties involved may be prosecuted.

4.2

Compliance and Environmental Managers of the contractors have been involved as a part of the tendering application. All parties (Council, AT and the contractor) will ensure compliance.

4.3

Extra precautions will be in place such as: • 24 hour phone number inquries/complaints • CRL project email and Facebook is available for easy contact • Once construction begins, a member of the CRL team will walk the site daily to ensure safety for general public

Albert Street Design

5.1

There have been various consultations on what Aucklanders want in their inner city streets such as the CCI ‘What do Aucklanders want’ campaign. The results were taken into account when designing the streets. No more public consultation is planned. Feedback will be sought from key stakeholders.

5.2

The urban design team is looking at provisions for loading zones on Albert Street. The current designs show no parking lanes, narrower roads and pedestrian pathways wider.

5.3

A detailed design will be drafted in June. Concerns about parking facilities have been noted

5.4

A design show case will be held from 11th – 15th April for the public to view the designs. All welcome

Transport in Auckland

The CRL is not the only problem solver for public transport issues in Auckland. Combined with the possibility of light rail, the CRL will reduce the need for and congestion of buses. Buses have and always will be a critical mode of transport in Auckland.
