Mark Barber Cadre In collaboration with the Auckland Festival of Photography, these photographic portraits are about the people who unassumingly work on and below the ground for the CRL project. Through these images, Mark eloquently captures the humanity and humility within the robust environment of construction.

Beresford Square

The custom designed hoardings created by local artist - Component - were made to allow for light, improved visibility into the site and to make the area inviting. This was something noted of great importance for the local businesses. An added and unexpected bonus was the colourful film added to the clear Perspex casts a beautiful geometric pattern to the footpath on a sunny day.

artists, two of which are currently exhibiting on the wall - Ashleigh Taupaki and Jaimie Waititi. For her new work ‘Paradise’ displayed on Tautai’s outdoor exhibition space, Moana Wall, Ashleigh shares writing and drawing on a large scale to envision her Nana’s experience as a migrant from Samoa. For Jaimie’s work - ReMoanafication’ – he looks to identify methods that reposition narratives about traditions, philosophies, beliefs and practice. It looks at the concept of time and acknowledges how our indigenous people practice time of the past, present and future simultaneously.

Margarita Vovna This concept focuses on the importance of heritage (both social heritage and the built environment) and the tattoo industry. The nostalgic style and colour palette support the heritage theme and ties it into contemporary Karangahape through its alignment with tattoo culture. Karangahape is the tattoo centre of the city and by extension, the country.

“My goal with this design is to represent the ‘urban jungle’; the vibrant people, fashion, music and cultures that inhabit the teeming ecosystem we call K Road. A playful, light-hearted artwork, in what I guess would be my signature style.” UEE

5 Misery (Tanja McMillan) Goldfish This artwork is based on the idea of an aquarium containing goldfish. Goldfish were bred in ancient China and became a symbol of prosperity through their red, gold and yellow colour. The goldfish are a tribute to the site and its Chinese heritage through the Ng family, from the New Gum Sarn supermarket back to Norman Ng’s green grocery.

Moana Waiwai Moana Pati The second instalment of the Moana Wall is located on East Street, and the first combined exhibition of the wall with Tautai’s Gallery space. Curated by Nigel Borell, the exhibition features work by nine incredible UPP
