Station Precinct update
June 2024
Maungawhau Station precinct development
The land around the Maungawhau Station is jointly owned by Auckland Council and Central Government. It will be developed to provide more homes, retail, entertainment, and commercial buildings.
We’ve worked with our mana whenua partners and the respective local boards to develop the outcomes being sought for the future development sites around the City Rail Link (CRL) Maungawhau Station:
• Environmental vitality and climate action
• Mana whenua partnership
• Homes
• Accessibility
• Economic & social well-being (‘Community well-being’)
• Value realisation
Eke Panuku is working with developers to help the station precinct area to become one of the best-quality, high density urban villages in the country. Ten development blocks are proposed – ranging from block A to J, as shown on the map to the right.
Due to the complexity of CRL construction, it is not possible to build adjacent to the station before it is completed so development will occur over a number of years after the station has opened.
