Basque Park Update •

Last month we held a dawn karakia with representatives from Mana Whenua. This was to bless the park and the workers before construction began.

Site set up works have begun for the Basque Park pipe diversion works.

Only 3 trees rather than 5 initially planned were removed as part of our works. These are 3 will be replaced like for like along the hill. 4 other trees have been relocated into temporary spots until construction is complete.

Last month we asked residents to fill out a survey to find out how they currently use the park and what they would like to see during construction. •There was a strong preference for installing art and hosting community events during our time in the park.

•Coming up we will be installing artwork on the hoardings, additional lighting and seating.

•Directional drilling for the pipe diversion to begin December 2021. With all works expected to be complete by August 2022.
