Business Grows Here Pickaway County is primarily an agricultural community. Many families still declare farming as their occupation and sole source of income. Our farmers are changing with the times in improvements, yields, planting methods and contributions to the food and fuel economy of our state. For more than 200 years, farmers have been the backbone of our community’s economy. Currently, Pickaway County ranks third in the state in corn production and seventh in soybean production. Circleville is also home to PPG, Georgia Pacific and tier-two plastic manufacturers for the automotive industry. Other significant employers in Pickaway County include Ohio Willow Wood, an industry leader in the manufacture of prosthetics, and American Wood Fibers, which supplies wood flour to industrial markets throughout the Midwest. Not every community can state that while they are an agricultural community and also home to Fortune 500 companies. DuPont, which manufactures high-technology applications for consumer electronics, owns a plant located in Circleville that currently employs about 500 people, with 46 jobs to be added by 2021 with their new Kapton production line expansion. More recent additions and expansions to our county include Trimold, LLC’s recentlycompleted 60,000-square foot plant expansion at their location on Pittsburgh Road, where they manufacture resin-based products for automobiles. This expansion will improve production efficiency, safety and production capacity. Sofidel Group, the sixth-largest manufacturer of tissue paper with operations in 13 countries, has been operating in Pickaway County for two years. Founded in Porcari, Italy nearly 50 years ago, this tissue manufacturer is still privately held by the families of the founders. This project represents its first 34

U.S. greenfield project. The 1.8 millionsquare foot plant is just south of Circleville and employs 300 people. Distributions and Logistics

The Rickenbacker Intermodal Terminal is owned and operated by Norfolk Southern Railroad (NS). This truck-to-train and train-to-truck facility opened in 2008 and

is estimated that will handle up to 400,000 lifts at full capacity. The Intermodal provides a direct link to international markets through the Port of Northfolk, Vir., via the Heartland Corridor. The Rickenbacker Global Logistics Park is located in Harrison and Madison townships in the northeast corner of Pickaway
