The place we live, the place we dream, the place we love indeed. HSBC Prosperity Hall. In this humble building, hundreds of students have lived the name of their name “prosperity” to the most. Known by the name Prosperians, we residence celebrate Prosperity from the inside, our connection with people, and the knowledge we grasped. This magazine will now lead you all the way through our way to Prosperity.
With various events Full of diversity, life in Hall 2 is never too interesting.
In this magazine, we have recapped the activities and summarised our colorful life of Hall 2.
We have the Special Hall Night Talk, IT Talk, Tram nights, Prosperian Night, and other activities.
The Prosperity Hall comes as
a family.
Feel our strong passion of being in unity from hearing residence shout for their home athletes at the school PEK events. Desert Night, Halloween Night, and International Meetup, which strengthen the internal connection between individuals, making Hall 2 a place like home. These are just a few to mention. 2020 October 13th
On Oct 13 our annual Prosperians Night was held. It was a night where Prosperians gather to welcome the upcoming 19/20 year. Unlike any other event, Prosperians Night has its own unique tradition that is wearing fancy costume to the event. This year the winning costume comes from floor 1&2, which they dressed up as Harry Potter! The night was opened with solo piano & singing performance. The champion of last year’s PEK singing contest from our hall got to entertain us with her amazing voice.
After the performances, we had games for our Residence Tutors where they had to drink drinks made of many nasty stuff like chili oil and had to guess the right mixtures. Throughout the event, there was also lucky draw with unbelievable prizes such as 100 dollars coupons, laundry detergents, and refrigerator! To increase our pride in being prosperians, we got to stand and sing our beloved hall anthem together. Lastly, event was ended with taking group photo with all of the Prosperians.

2020 Prosperity Hall
There were many prosperians that came to support our football team. Every prosperian who have came to support enjoyed the match with much excitement. The boys warmed up sharply and super excited to do their best for the competition. One of the matches was the match between Hall 2 and Hall 4. Even though we lost the game with Hall 4, all prosperians were so proud of our players who tried their best. The memories, friendship, and experience will definitely last for a long time.

The historic moment that our hall broke the university record This year, the athletic meet was held on the 13th of October 2019. We were blessed to have good weather that day. Many Hall 2 residents, including Dr. Ray’s family, were spotted cheering for our team at the event.

We had selected our athletic team carefully several weeks ago, and they had spent a great deal of time on their training. Their goal was not only to win the championship of men in 4 times 400 meters relay but also to break the record. The competitions were very thrilling and stiff, especially for the 4x400 meters men relay.
Our athletic team ran on the third track, and they took the lead after the second participant was about to pass the baton. After overtaking the other runners, our athletic team kept widening the leading advantage and won a landslide victory at last. The final record was 3 minutes and 19 seconds, which was faster than the previous one by 23 seconds.
A runner from our athletic teamJayant, claims that he is glad that their hard work finally paid off after the intense practice. There were about 5 or 6 members who could run the 4x400 meters relay, and they finally decided to go with the fastest runners and broke the record.
Jayant thinks that it was not a matter of luck, but rather a planned victory. He is extremely proud of his teammates for achieving it. He also points out the role of the manager as quite important for the athletes in helping to focus on their race. He hopes to have more practice sessions next time so that the athletic team members can shorten the time of passing the baton. Hall 2 Magazine

Dessert night is a signature event of Hall 2 aimed at fostering relations between residents from different nations and cultural backgrounds. Due to this emphasis, the frequency of the event is also high with it being held every week, the responsibility of preparing a traditional sweet dish jumping from one room to the next across all floors of Hall 2.

The people form the Prosperity Hall are proud of their programming culture. Besides their well-known IT Team and IT workshops, this year, hall master Dr Ray Cheung brought these upcoming IT rookies the armor they need – a talk from a veteran.

2020 Prosperity Hall
Leo Wong, a friend of Dr Ray’s, was the one that brought a brand-new vision to these passionate students. Working as a software engineer in Apple, a global leading tech company, this senior coder is the perfect mentor for students that want to more about what it is like to work in a global tech giant. Needless to say, Leo prepared a marvelous 40-minute talk about his career to enlighten us fellow students, as we were expecting. Leo gave us an abstract of his competition career, from his motivation to his success. Grown to be a college student, Leo, as someone three steps ahead of the others, did not look back and rest. Instead, he started the new chapter of his career, researching. To the where he began to share the peak of his success, his life of being a software engineer, Leo dragged the focus of the whole Mul-B all the way to his veteran life. “Think hard and work hard” was probably a great quote to conclude his sharing. Without a doubt, the night will be remembered by all of us, as for the words of wisdom from this veteran engineer.
