Munich Airport wins European Routes Award Munich Airport was announced as the winner of this year’s European Routes Award at a celebration in Budapest with more than 1,000 guests in attendance. This prestigious award is presented annually in recognition of outstanding marketing performance by international airports. In the “Europe’s Largest Airports” category comprised of airports with more than 20 million passengers handled annually, Munich Airport placed ahead of Rome and Vienna to achieve the number one ranking. Munich was also declared the overall winner of the European Routes Award.

For Dr. Michael Kerkloh, president and CEO of Munich Airport, the award is an affirmation of the airport’s efforts to continually improve available travel options in quality and quantity. “By bringing this significant prize home to Munich, we have highlighted our success in expanding and enhancing the quality of the routes and services we offer in the increasingly fierce competition among Europe’s major airports,” he noted.
