Early years
International
Early years education focuses on activity and interaction. Discovery Experiences, specifically designed to meet the needs of Kindy and Prep students, engage curiosity and sense of fun. For the Year Ones we head out on our Walkabout Tours, investigating animal diversity and habitats.
We have two Walkabout Tours specifically designed for international groups. One is for students who are still learning English, and focuses more on interactive animal experiences; the other incorporates more Australia Zoo history for followers of the Irwins.
Lower school
Special education
A range of Tribe Talks and Walkabout Tours are available for Years Three to Five, ranging in topics from introductions to diversity and classification, to the popular and pertinent topic of threatened species.
For groups with special needs we can conduct a Sensory Experience. Like the Discovery Experiences for very young students, the Sensory Experience is very hands-on, capitalising on students’ senses of touch and smell, to investigate some of our furry and scaly friends.
Middle school
Holiday program
Programs for Years Six to Nine include Tribe Talks that address curriculum elements, while encouraging a sense of citizenship within your students, to play their important part in wildlife protection.
Zoo Keeper for a Day is our holiday program for children aged 7-12. Conducted during every Queensland public school holiday period, it’s a busy day out for the kids (helping to take care of our animals), and a much deserved break for Mum and Dad.
Upper school Tribe Talks and Walkabout Tours for Years Ten to Eleven focus on senior school curriculum elements within biology. Additionally there are heaps of opportunities to contextualise studies in business and tourism at Australia Zoo.
