The prevailing winds are northerly in the Aegean, and blow consistently from mid-morning to dusk in the summer months. They are generally weaker in the autumn and spring months, when the heat moderates over the continent, giving an extended season that is the envy of sailors from northern European climates.
Its position at the tip of the Izmir peninsula provides convenient access to the Aegean Sea, with its estimated 300 islands large and small, as well as to the wider cruising grounds of the Mediterranean. It is also a recognised port of entry to Turkish waters.
Çes¸me lies at a convenient one-hour distance from Izmir, Turkey’s cosmopolitan third largest city. THE Çes ¸me PENINSULA, ASHORE AND AFLOAT The town of Çes¸me is rich in history, as can be seen in the Museum, which is housed within the beautiful 16th century castle, just a short stroll from the centre. By way of contrast, modern Çes¸me abounds with lively nightlife in the holiday season after a day spent windsurfing, diving or kitesurfing off one of the beautiful local beaches. The warm breezes and sun-drenched days make the area a fantastic yachting location, and bustling Çes¸me Marina is the ideal evening venue to socialise or relax, enjoying the wide selection of local and international cuisine and refreshments, all within yards of your yacht. The area is famous for its healing hot springs and spas and endless sandy beaches, and boasts some of the Mediterranean’s most popular destinations for watersports enthusiasts. Chios is a starkly beautiful island largely unspoilt by mass tourism, despite having some of the best beaches in the Aegean and some of the most fascinating medieval villages in the whole of Greece. Chios is well known for the great variety and quality of its seasonal fruits.
Lesvos is the third biggest island in Greece, with a coastline of 370 km. The capital city Mytilini spreads from the large harbour up into the hills behind, and is crowned by an enormous castle, surrounded by a pine forest that reaches down to the shore and the beach.
Samos island lies in the heart of the central Aegean. Its main port, Vathi, resembles an amphitheatre built around a large bay, and offers services and marine infrastructure catering for the needs of vessels of all sizes.
Oinousses is a small group of islands, known from ancient times for their famous wines, and renowned in modern times as the birthplace of prominent ship-owners, earning Oinousses the title of richest island in the world. Crystal clear waters characterise these islands.
Lesvos is also considered the homeland of ouzo, due to the numerous brands produced on the island.
The cradle of western civilisation, the Aegean Sea cruising region has an area of 214,000 km2. With literally thousands of islands to explore, from uninhabited rocky outcrops to major centres such as Rhodes and Kos, the Aegean Sea is where one might happily spend a lifetime of blissful cruising.
Çes¸me is perfectly situated as a stopover port for the many yachts that make the annual journey from Instanbul in the north to Marmaris and the beaches of the south. The port of Pythagoreio is considered to be the oldest man-made port in the Mediterranean Sea, and today is one of the most tourist-developed areas of the island. Its blue flag beach was once the favourite bathing haunt of Anthony and Cleopatra.

All of this is provided to the unrivalled standards of excellence for which Camper & Nicholsons and IC Holding are renowned. We welcome you with 24 hour berthing assistance and concierge service, with full yacht provisioning on-site. Our marina staff are on hand to assist with local customs and immigration offices if required, and will prepare the formailites prior to your arrival if notified in advance. Our superyacht berths can accommodate vessels up to 60m LOA, with power supply up to 400A, fresh water, grey and black water pump-out and fuel berth. Çes¸me Marina is the perfect base for chartering your yacht, for local cruises in the Aegean and Ionian Seas, or further afield to the western Mediterranean islands and the French and Italian Rivieras.

TECHNICAL SERVICES As well as 400 fully serviced berths afloat, Çes¸me Marina also has an extensive and professionally serviced boatyard, ready to take on anything from minor repairs to a major re-fit. The 80 ton travel lift is complemented with a 20 ton boat mover, to give the greatest flexibility when arranging a haul-out or re-launch. The purpose-built hard-standing area has capacity for up to 100 yachts, whether for a quick round trip and wash-off, or for a full winter storage package. Our technical partners, Barog Marine, can undertake all types of yacht repair and maintenance, including mechanical and electrical engineering, painting and varnishing, fibreglass repairs and traditional carpentry. They also manage the on-site chandlery and run a machine shop for welding and metal fabrication. These facilities are available to visitors as well as berth-holders, subject to availability, and we may provide special seasonal and annual discounts which combine a marina berth with space in the boatyard.
