On behalf of Brightlife and the Institute of Translational Oncology Research (ITOR),

Welcome to the 2013 Brightlife/ITOR Showhome!

We see this gorgeous home as a symbol of support: Support that started with Brightlife, an organization created to help Tim and Jenny Bright during Tim’s battle with colon cancer, and support that continues now through ITOR, where cancer care, treatment and rehabilitation thrives for patients like Tim. Together, we know exactly what good your gifts to ITOR, part of the GHS Cancer Institute, will do for personalizing cancer care and transforming cancer treatment in the Upstate. As a physician and patient who have drawn close throughout Tim’s 3-year treatment, we’re excited to share with you some of the advancements being made in our own backyard. At ITOR, you’ll find a phase 1 Clinical Research Unit, biorepository services, and proteomics and genomics capabilities, all under one roof. We’re also developing a cooperative model in the evolving world of oncology drug development, with leading pharmaceutical companies, research universities, private industry and the government included in our more than 30 partners and collaborators. The institute is currently participating in dozens of trials and multiple studies for bladder, breast, colon, leukemia, lung, lymphoma, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate and renal cancer, just to name a few. This means that patients like Tim are given a new degree of hope when normal treatment options have failed – hope they would have to travel, or even relocate, to receive if not for the GHS Cancer Institute and ITOR. It’s a great comfort for all of us – staff, patients, and families – to have such a generous, compassionate community behind us, investing in our programs to fight cancer. Tim would especially like to thank his family and friends for both their personal support on his cancer journey and their support for ITOR.

For more information about ITOR, contact GHS Cancer Institute Medical Director Larry Gluck, M.D., ITOR Director Joseph Stephenson, M.D. or ITOR Associate Director Jeff Edenfield, M.D. at (864) 455-3600.

Thank you to Goodwin Foust for building this home to spread the word about ITOR, and thank you, our supporters, for making a difference for cancer patients and families!

Great room Walk into the great room and walk into a haven of cozy elegance (Jennifer Willis & Meredith Kinsey, Postcards from Paris). The painted exposed-brick walls simply sing French country manor, while the two Hickory White high-back sofas and iron Savoy House chandelier offer modern sophistication. Charming touches like the built-in Stylecraft bookcases and antique Louis Philippe chest guarantee that you’ll want to slip off your shoes and relax in style.

Don’t miss: The fireplace, constructed by local mason Kevin Oliver and the coffered ceiling built by craftsmen Todd Walton.

Dining Room Family dinners, neighborhood supper clubs and friendly wine tastings have never seen such a sweet place. Gina Carson and Brittany Bowser (Carolina Furniture and Interiors) provide a polished palate for your next gathering, with a weathered wood table, supple tufted-back chairs and glamorous Savoy Housechandelier. Looking for an architectural touch? Look up: The Wallworks Design and Finishing ceiling boasts a memorable diamond design.

Don’t miss: The lovely, well-lit built-in china cabinet featuring a marble countertop and backsplash.

Kitchen A mix of satin-finished Star Granite countertops and marble tile backsplash from Clayton bring a cool calm to the room, while the blue linen Lillian August dining chairs and antique Persian rug usher in chic comfort by the large bay window (Jennifer Willis & Meredith Kinsey, Postcards from Paris). Cooks and collectors alike will love the stainless steel Delta pot filler and the 48” dual-fuel range, as well as the Stylecraft glass-front display cabinets lining the kitchen.

Don’t miss: The large dark grey distressed island custom-finished by Alex Painting, topped with a white marble countertop, stuffed with storage space and designed with a special view into the great room. 4
