Erskine grads engage the world in significant and meaningful ways. Take Dr. April Clayton, an Erskine alum whose love for science ignited her quest to develop vaccines for infectious diseases. Discovering her passion for scientific research at the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, April decided to major in chemistry and biology in preparation for a Ph.D. in the biological sciences, a decision that led her to Erskine. “I looked at several big schools,” she says, “but I’m glad I chose Erskine. No other school can offer the rigorous academic program, the personalized research opportunities or the family-like learning environment that you’ll find at Erskine.” While a student at Erskine, April conducted on-campus research and worked in labs at Clemson University and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She went on to earn a Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University and now works as a post-doctoral fellow in the viral diseases lab at the National Institutes of Health, where she’s fighting against West Nile virus and dengue fever. April is known for research that has the potential to save millions of lives. How will you be known?

Many Erskine alumni pursue graduate studies in the sciences, law, and humanities at top programs across the nation, including Clemson, Emory, MUSC, USC, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, and Harvard. The graduate school and medical school acceptance rate from several Erskine programs is near 100% due to extensive faculty mentoring, student access to research opportunities as undergraduates, and deep preparation for graduate coursework.

Most qualified students are able to enjoy the exceptional value of an Erskine education by combining federal and state assistance, generous merit-based scholarships, and wise financial planning. In fact, more than 95% of students receive assistance through some blend of these sources. Last year alone, we were privileged to provide more than $10 million in scholarships.
Our fifteen intercollegiate teams compete in NCAA Division II as part of Conference Carolinas. To support these programs, we maintain fields, gyms, courts, and athletic facilities that also promote a healthy, active lifestyle for all students. Our diverse intramural and recreational programs provide competitive and fun athletic options for everyone.
