Currently, a member of the national MOD award-winning chapter, Upsilon Chi Zeta, located in Rockford, Il., Initiated on December 9, 2001, through the Zeta Zeta Chapter of Dolton, IL. A 2005 re charterer of the Eta Chi Zeta Chapter located in Joliet, IL.

Since 2005, Soror Kendricks Dorame has served on all four levels of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Locally, she has been a Chair of numerous committees and has held almost every executive board position, including a 3-term stint as Chapter Basileus. Currently, she is the Upsilon Chi Zeta Phylacter.

On the state level, Soror Kendricks-Dorame was elected as the Illinois Graduate Member at Large, the Illinois State Representative at Large, and is currently serving as the Chair of the Illinois Executive Board. During her tenure as Chair, the Board held the highly attended training/workshop, “Leap into Finer: Polishing Your Pearls Retreat.”

On the regional level, she has positively contributed as the Illinois State Representative at-Large and the Great Lakes Gazette Newsletter Editor. On the national level, Soror Kendricks Dorame was a member of the Zeta Centennial Commission’s Communications and Publications Teams. She was responsible for various international merchandising flyers and served as the Editor of the Centennial “Journey to the Centennial” Newsletter.

She is a mom of two young adults, Brenda (“the girl”) employed with Aldi and Michael (“the boy”) employed with Amazon.

MISSION STATEMENT

The women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. State of Illinois and its auxiliaries will address the societal concerns of the Illinois and Zeta communities by encouraging the highest standards of Scholarship, promoting Service and charitable projects, fostering the spirit of Sisterhood, and upholding the ideal of Finer Womanhood.

VISION STATEMENT

The State of Illinois envisions that every Zeta, Amica, and youth will be encouraged and prepared for leadership roles within and outside of the organization. By 2026, we will:

Complete a thorough SWOT Analysis and a new embellishment resource, the Zeta of Illinois Institute; we will expand our membership’s knowledge of state, regional, and national initiatives and programs.

Leverage technology to organize and improve internal processes and communications.

Share the story of our brand and founding tenets through works of service and kindness to our sisterhood and community.

Strategic Plan Executive Summary

Strategically, my plan for moving the State of Illinois forward will primarily focus on planning and executing initiatives adopted by the Grant administration. Additionally, I will lead the State through a focused change management program, achieving the following key results:

Positively position the state of Illinois and its members for the future by strengthening our people, our policies, and our partnerships

We will increase brand recognition for our sorority and its members by sharing professional achievements and creating distinctive programming aimed at creating positive change within our local community, combatting mental and physical health issues, and sounding off to social injustice.

Finally, we will expand the State's knowledge base on our history, programmatic objectives, and responsibilities as a member of our sisterhood. Additionally, we will embrace the history of our Doves and record it for historical reference.

Strategically, my plan for moving the State of Illinois forward will primarily focus on planning and executing all initiatives adopted by the Grant administration. Additionally, I will lead the state through a focused change management program, achieving the following key results:

Embracing the Future: Position the state of Illinois and its members for the future by strengthening our people, our policies, and our partnerships.

Closing the Gap: The State of Illinois will provide training and resources to empower each member to be knowledgeable about our history, by-laws, governance, leadership, and community development.

Consistent Communication: Create a dependable system for obtaining and disseminating information and expand our brand reach with intelligent marketing programs

Expand our Possibilities: Create a membership focused team to enhance our appeal to potential members by highlighting our key differentiators, including our Zeta Doves, Amicae and Youth Programs.

30 DAYS IN OFFICE First

During this critical time, it is essential to establish a culture of trust and accountability while creating plans to move our sisterhood forward. In the first 30 days, together, we will:

Complete the transition process with the current State Director.

Hold a strategy meeting with the newly appointed Great Lakes Regional Director and International Grand Basileus Grant.

Begin the appointment process to fill statewide offices, prioritizing Amicae, Life & Youth Directors.

Meet and establish foundational relationships with the Illinois Board of Directors

Oversee an in depth review of our financial status with the appropriate stakeholders.

Conduct a hybrid virtual and in-person roadshow, meeting with chapter First and Third Anti Basilei.

Establish a partnership with the Phi Beta Sigma State Director, Brother Tyrese Montgomery

Collect feedback, analyze results and create the framework for the state strategic plan.

Kick off project planning for the Zeta State of Illinois Founders' Celebration.

60 DAYS IN OFFICE

In the 30 - 60 day period, we will pivot from planning to acting. It is critical to capture the positive momentum and begin to capture strategic wins for the Grant Administration. Together, we will:

Finalize all state appointments and outline objectives, priorities, and key results. Host a follow up strategy review session with the Great Lakes Regional Director and International Grand Basileus Grant.

Conduct a statewide branding audit, ensuring consistency with national brand guidelines, and refresh the look and feel of our website to improve the user experience.

Establish regularly scheduled touch points to provide consistent and timely updates to the Illinois Board of Directors.

Conduct follow up meetings with Chapter First and Third Anti Basilei. Kick off project planning for the Zeta State of Illinois Finer Womanhood Celebration.

90 DAYS IN OFFICE

During the 60 90 day period, we will reflect on our start and refine our strategy, always focusing on igniting the passion of every Soror in the State of Illinois. Together, we will:

Convene the first quarterly financial meeting with the budget committee.

Host an update session with the Great Lakes Regional Director and International Grand Basileus Grant.

Continue the established meeting schedule with the Illinois Board of Directors. Conduct follow-up meetings with Chapter First and Third Anti Basilei.

Finalize and socialize the State of Illinois Strategic plan.
