his past year, LaunchHouse celebrated its 11th anniversary. What started out as the brainstorm of two 20-somethings above Geraci’s Pizza has turned into a thriving coworking community with more than 180 members. Our success year in and year out would not be possible without support from people like you who believe in our mission of creating successful entrepreneurs. By the numbers, and with your support, LaunchHouse has achieved the following in its 11 years: • Assisted more than 10,500 entrepreneurs through its programs and events • Provided more than 4,000 hours of entrepreneurial support • Held more than 660 free community events • Provided co-working space for more than 250 companies • Educated and mentored Hiram College students as well as local area high school students with senior projects • Served as a resource to more than 25 area high schools and colleges • Invested in 65 companies that have raised more than $32 million in follow-on funding • Created more than 65 jobs through portfolio and member companies Part of what makes the LaunchHouse community so vibrant has been the contributions made by the people who shared their time and expertise with us through Lunch and Learns, One Million Cups of Coffee, and Happy Hours. To all of our speakers who volunteered their time, thank you. Tonight’s Bash would not have been possible without the help provided by Kevin S. Adelstein and his team at the Cleveland Jewish News. You have been terrific partners with us in hosting the Bash. Of course, I cannot forget John Gadd who opened up Red Space for us tonight. You’ve been a great friend to LaunchHouse over the years.

2020 is a year of focus for LaunchHouse. We are focused on doing all we can do to add real value for the entrepreneurs who call LaunchHouse home. In 2019 the space was expanded into an additional 2,500 square feet of office and open coworking space. We are excited to announce that we are kicking off 2020 with yet another space expansion to accommodate the growing community, and the additional 2,500 square feet suite will be opening soon! We are focused on providing valuable content to our members through quality events. Lunch & Learns, Happy Hours, and Workshops are planned for 2020 with the intent of providing the kind of content that really adds value for the participants and has the potential to improve their businesses. We started 2020 with the LaunchHouse Wellness Initiative. Through the initiative, we’re hosting a sixweek yoga series, and multiple Lunch & Learns and happy hours that are focused on teaching personal and workplace wellness practices. Thank you for your support, and for being here to celebrate with us tonight. Cheers to a wonderful 2020 and 11 years of LaunchHouse!

Sincerely,

Todd Goldstein Co-Founder and CEO of LaunchHouse

Who are our entrepreneurs?

aunchHouse has been home to entrepreneurs in Cleveland since 2008. Back then, there were very few resources and organizations that supported idea-stage entrepreneurs. Today, we are thrilled there are dozens of local organizations eager to mentor, fund, educate and support startups of all stages. If there is one thing we have learned over the past 10 years, it’s that it takes a community to help an entrepreneur succeed. Thank you for showing your support for Cleveland’s startup community. We invite you to meet each of our showcase companies this evening. Looking to get more involved with LaunchHouse and our entrepreneurs? Please contact us at info@launchhouse.com to learn more.

2020 BOOTSTRAP BASH EXHIBITORS HYR MEDICAL A “perfect storm” has hit healthcare staffing! By 2025, the United States will have a shortage of over 100,000 physicians and 1 million nurses. Freelance practitioners are used to relieve these shortages ($15B industry; projected to double in 5 years), but the current staffing supply chain is labor intensive, document-driven and painfully slow. As a result, medical practices face revenue “leakage” and higher costs. In addition, practitioner burnout and associated medical errors increase when hospitals and clinics are understaffed. Hyr Medical solves this important problem; we’ve built a web-based marketplace that eliminates the agency middle man and reduces overhead costs. We enable direct connections between practitioners and medical practices, automate portions of the credentialing process, and provide upfront transparency into rates and practice locations. The result: faster credentialing process, lower costs for medical practices, significantly higher rates for physicians, and a system that finally attracts and rewards quality, freelance practitioners.

there is one thing that LaunchHouse has proved ... having the support of a broader, interconnected, startup community is a critical part of any entrepreneur’s success.

Entrepreneurs NUTRITIONAL ROOTS Justin Root landed his dream job out of college. He was tasked with convincing journalists to love New Orleans’ best restaurants and bars. In other words, he was paid to eat and drink around the clock. He loved the long hours and weekend work. His health, on the other hand, did not. At his first physical, he weighed 260 pounds. His doctor tried to prescribe medication for high blood pressure. Justin didn’t want a lifetime of medication, so his doctor told him to lose weight. Turns out, that’s much easier said than done. He dove into research, but all the conflicting information was overwhelming. Is this Atkins dude serious? Eating only burgers, bacon and cheese is the best way to lose weight? (Spoiler alert: It’s not.) Justin hoped living around healthy people would reveal their skinny secrets. He moved to San Diego to help a new company market a line of nutrition bars. On a business trip to Heinen’s, he was introduced to Dr. Todd J. Pesek, Heinen’s chief medical officer. Dr. Pesek gifted him his book, “Eat Yourself Super.” Growing up meat was at the center of every plate. Justin wasn’t jazzed about eating all plants, but he was running out of options. He read the book on his flight home – and everything changed. Dr. Pesek’s wellness strategy helped him lose

more than 50 pounds, normalize his blood pressure and feel better in his ‘30s than he did in his ‘20s. In 2014, Justin left a fastgrowing technology startup to help Dr. Pesek launch a plant-based wellness company: Nutritional Roots. Nutritional Roots completes your diet with clinically Justin Root proven supplements made from innovative, easy-toabsorb ingredients. Our products combine Dr. Pesek’s lifelong passion for herbal medicine with his clinical success treating thousands of patients in Cleveland. After years focused on refining our products, we are elevating the industry’s standard of quality and affordability with the rollout of our new solutions. Justin knows firsthand the power of plant-based eating and supplementation. He’s proud of the growth and evolution of Nutritional Roots, and he can’t wait to share these incredible new products – available at your local Heinen’s, Amazon or NutritionalRoots.com :) – with as many people as possible in 2020! He’s very grateful to be here tonight.

Entrepreneurs FIRST DAY PAPERWORK Jay Apple and Wayne Rothman co-founded TenantMagic, LLC in 2013 and they are now launching First Day Paperwork. TenantMagic was developed to automate paper-based processes in the real estate rental industry. First Day Paper Work automates the completion of forms each new hire typically fills out on paper forms. (W-4, I-9 I-4, Background check authorization, EEO-1, Personal information form and direct deposit authorization.) The employer simply emails a link to the new hire who can then complete the forms in a few minutes from home. The new hire can access the forms with a password-protected pdf. The employer receives the pdf plus the data in a csv file.

The Society for Human Resource Management is now recommending that the new W-4 form (calculating withholding) be done off site because of the added complexity the IRS inserted to “make it simple.” They didn’t make it simple, but we did. First Day Paperwork Jay Apple is employee onboarding simplified. The application is complete and being tested.

TOASTI Warm and Toasti, not cold and chilly. Toasti’s whole-body heated mat delivery penetrates infrared heat to your deep tissues. This active heat comforts, restores, and relaxes to your core. When your whole-body is cold and stressed, a little heat pad isnt’ enough. You need the head-totoe comfort of a whole-body mat for maximum warmth and relief. For yoga and stretching, cold floors and muscles are no longer an excuse to get going! Stretch deeper, prevent injuries, and recovery stronger. For TV and video games, get snuggly on the couch, recliner, or floor. Stressed at work, drape a ToastiMat over your chair. Sleep deeper warm in bed. Keep cozy while cold weather camping. Working on a car or snowmobile, how about a warm, padded mat instead of a cold, concrete floor? And, pets love snuggling on ToastiMat’s, too! Jeff started Toasti in 2018 when he struggled to keep his yoga practice going in his cold drafty house. Cranking the thermostat was too expensive and he couldn’t find a heated mat, so he built one. Then he used it to stay warm fixing his car, sleeping, camping, and relieving muscle pain. When his friends and family also wanted one,

10

Bootstrap Bash 2020

he turned it into a business with a successful Kickstarter in 2018 and delivered in January 2019. Now, Toasti is developing new niche heating products. Look for new product launches in 2020!
