Melt Bar & Grilled will open a location in Public Square in downtown Cleveland on Sept. 12. Cafe 200 Public Square will be located in the 200 Public Square building in the space formerly occupied by Zack Bruell’s Kafeteria. “Great things are happening downtown, and we’re thrilled to open in the heart of Public Square in one of the most iconic buildings in Cleveland” said Matt Fish, owner of Melt Bar & Grilled, in a statement. “This space has truly been reborn and we’re

Winking Lizard site plans OK’d for Mayfield Hts.

Members of the Mayfield Heights planning commission approved final site plans for a Winking Lizard restaurant May 2. Winking Lizard, a restaurant/ sports bar, will be built at 1355 SOM Center Road. The site is a parking lot near Atlas Cinemas at Eastgate Shopping Center. Andy Hoffman, vice president of Cosmo-Eastgate Ltd. explained at the meeting that the main entrance to the restaurant will now face west instead of east. The change came after a civil engineer discovered a 5,000-volt

underground electric conduit 30 inches under the building. Hoffman explained that removing it would take at least four months, so instead the main entrance was flipped and the patio will now be located on the north side of the building. A fire lane, a fire department connection, a hydrant and an additional access for the east side parking lot also were added to the site plans, Hoffman said. The restaurant is slated to open before the end of the year.

The Pub closes at Beachwood Place

The Pub at Beachwood Place has closed. The restaurant, located at 26300 Cedar Road, officially shut down Aug. 31. “This was not an easy decision, but closing our Beachwood location allows us to focus on other more profitable restaurants and is therefore in the best interest of our company,” said David Bell, director of operations for Tavern Restaurant Group, in a statement. “We are very grateful to the Beachwood community for their patronage and to our team members for their efforts, but this particular location has been unable to meet sales quotas for a long time.” The Pub is a British-inspired tavern offering a selection of draft beers, cocktails, and updated British and American dishes. It opened at Beachwood Place in January 2014. “We never like to see a retailer close, but with high demand

by retailers for space in highperforming malls, this gives us an opportunity to continue providing stellar retail, dining and entertainment,” Neisha Vitello, senior general manger of Beachwood Place and La Place, told the Cleveland Jewish News. “We see any vacancy as an opportunity to stay true to our mission of providing an out-

the final product. A written recipe must accompany any submission. The entry deadline is Sept. 18. Ten semifinalists will be selected from all submissions and posted online for a virtual community vote Sept. 20-29. Three finalists will receive free travel and accommodations to Kosherfest.

The winner will receive a $500 American Express gift card; a $100 gift card for Grow and Behold Foods; a feature article in Joy of Kosher magazine and joyofkosher.com; a one-year subscription to Joy of Kosher; and a Joy of Kosher cookbook.
