25 years of XERION
Themachine!jubilee
It is an important milestone this year for the CLAAS XERION, celebrating it’s 25 year jubilee. The picture on the left shows a prototype of the XERION and in 1993, it was revealed to the public for the first time. The XERION tractor, developed by CLAAS engineers, was created with power and performance combined. The cab could be placed in 3 different positions, allowing a range of uses: as a normal tractor (as seen in pictures), or with the cab rotated 180o so that it is facing the other way or with the cab at the very end of the vehicle, as it remains today.
|
With state-of-the-art tractor attributes, the CLAAS XERION was and is a mighty machine! The XERION is very versatile, available with tracks or wheels.
The CLAAS XERION is capable of many jobs, from clearing snow in extremely cold climates, to pulling heavy machinery or implements, to working in very wet and muddy environments. The XERION’s versatile and powerful capabilities make it an incredibly reliable machine that can be used all over the world!

At CLAAS, we think that the customer is the most important person. Customers not only keep the business going by buying our machines, they help us to understand their needs and improve how we do things. CLAAS is always evolving and that is because we like to work closely with our customers.
CLAAS Customer Experience Centre
Our “Customer Care” programme is very important to us and we have specialist people here at CLAAS that are dedicated to this initiative. One of the ways that has helped us to improve our Customer Care was the building of a “Customer Experience Centre”, or “CXC”.
The CXC offers the opportunity to drive and handle machines in a simulated working environment all year round. There are a variety of tractors and material handling products available for customers to test drive in different applications, such as on the clamps, driving on the all-weather track and using the latest steering solutions in the GPS display arena.

BACK ON THE FARMIN THE UK
The Journey of a CLAAS Part
the part needs to be replaced, the Service Engineer will call their dealership, who will then order it from CLAAS UK.
If the part is not in stock at the CLAAS UK warehouse, it will need to be delivered from the Parts Logistics Centre in Hamm, Germany. This warehouse is 136,500 metre squared and they heavily rely on robots to help with processing parts.
If a customer has broken down, they will call for their local CLAAS Service Engineer to come out and find out what’s wrong with their

You may have not given it much thought before, or perhaps you have once wondered, “what actually happens when a farmer breaks down and requires a new machine part?”. CLAAS has an excellent system in place but there is a lot that goes into this process, and it requires quite a few steps. Luckily, CLAAS have many years of experience and use great partners to help them sort and deliver important parts quickly and professionally!

This year’s early harvest may also cause problems for the following years crop. The temptation this year will be to cultivate and drill the next crop early but doing so will release what little moisture there is in the soil and the next crop won’t be able to establish correctly. The dry conditions can also make soil less resistant to compaction, meaning that it does not ‘bounce back’ very well when driven over, making it harder to work with. The residual heat in the ground, however, will allow for a slightly later drilling: plants will establish and sprout at the same sort of time as usual, meaning they will still be protected from frost later in the year.
• WhilstMoldthis
Many farmers have been working through the night to avoid harvesting in the heat of the day - beans for example can get too dry and fall onto the ground or crop heads cannot be cracked efficiently. Working through the night ensures a little extra protection as the moisture levels are more suitable.
• Reduced yield (quantity)
The UK has had an extraordinary year, with record breaking temperatures of up to 40oc in certain areas.
• Soil erosion
11 SUMMERclaas.co.uk2022 facebook.com/claas.unitedkingdom instagram.com/claas_uk youtube.com/claasunitedkingdom
early harvest has been quite a relief for many farmers as they have not had to battle with rainy weather, it is important to consider what has caused these conditions. The high temperatures have been linked to climate change, which can be a natural occurrence where the planet’s atmosphere heats up, but research has shown that human activities have caused an increase in the rate of rising temperatures. We need to start preparing for more summers like this in the future and try to do what we can to protect our planet.
The dry conditions have led to grazing fields dying off. This has farmers concerned about possible shortages and high costs of winter feed.
The heatwave to hit the UK in July this year took everybody by surprise. With soaring temperatures, it presented the farming world with many challenges. Farmers have had to work extra hard as the high temperatures have led to a very early harvest, the earliest the UK has seen for 60 years.

• Crop being damaged by machines
Harvesting crop when the conditions are too hot and dry in the day can cause:
However, harvesting the crop when there is too much moisture can also have various negative effects, such as:
• Reduced crop quality and yield (quantity)
When using harvesting machines in the field, it is important to use an airline. An airline hose is similar to the one your family would use when at the garage to inflate their car tyres. This will blow off all the dust on the machine and keep it nice and clean. The loose bits of crop or dust that are left on the machine can catch fire, so drivers must make sure to remove them when they start to build up. It is important to do this throughout the year and not just in harvest.

Safety in hot conditions:
If you are out in the field during harvest, make sure that you drink lots of water to avoid dehydration, wear sun screen and try to protect your skin from the direct sun by wearing caps, long sleeve loose fitted clothing and standing in the shade whenever you get the chance to.

Make up your whipped cream. You could try to use an electric whisk until the cream becomes firm.
Cut enough strawberries in half to completely cover the sponge base and set the rest aside to decorate the trifle. You will probably use more than one punnet.
Make up your jelly (according to packet instructions) and pour over the sponge and berries, then pop in the fridge to set.
STEP 5
Spread an even layer of cream on top of the custard. Alternatively add swirls of squirty cream around the edge of the bowl. You can have both creams or choose one or the other.

Pets can improve our self-confidence, happiness and studies have shown that they can even improve our health.
Reduce stress and anxiety
Release happy chemicals in the brain
Provide a sense of purpose
Make us more active
Pets not only teach us practical skills, they teach us how to be empathetic, how to be confident and how to love. Animals do not judge, they do not mind what you are wearing or whether you brushed your hair! The unconditional love we receive from pets is an instant mood boost. When we learn how to treat animals the right way, it can help us to communicate better with others and to also understand what our needs are.
Improve social interactions Reduce loneliness
Pets such as horses and other outdoor animals can be very hands-on, we may learn to ride them or we may learn how to raise them for milk or eggs, and so on. To do such things, we need to learn how to be safe around animals and respect their space.

Buy or make your own bird feeder. To make one, all you’ll need is 1 plastic bottle and some pencils or wooden spoons. Make holes in the bottle (ask an adult to do this) so the pencils or spoons can slide through to the other side. Make the holes big enough that some food can be pulled out by the birds mouth when they are perching.

The number of wildlife around the world is becoming smaller because of things like pollution. Humans also keep on disturbing their natural habitats, like in woodlands, on meadows and near rivers. Though quite small, wildlife plays a big part in nature and we should do our best to protect it.
