CGA News 14 December 2016
WELCOME TO OUR NEW HEADTEACHER Dear Parents, I am very proud to have been appointed as the academy’s new permanent headteacher. Having worked here in a number of leadership roles over the last seven years, I am fully committed to ensuring continuing success for your daughters and the academy. I recognise the huge value in working in partnership with you as parents and will be using this ‘CGA News’ update to keep you informed about important dates, academy events and student and staff achievements. We have printed this first edition of the ‘CGA News’ for you but will be emailing this out from now on. If we don’t already have your email address, please email this to Kate Plunkett in Student Reception at: kplunkett@clapton.hackney.sch.uk Thank you all for your continuing support of the academy. I wish you a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas break and look forward to seeing you all at parents evenings and other events in the spring term.

STUDENT VOICE
We spent 5 days at the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters as ball crew. When we got there on day one it was really daunting as we found out we were on for the first match, but we overcame our nerves and performed really well. Watching the players was really inspirational, their athleticism was truly admirable.
On day 3 we met GB’s Lucy Shuker who was really lovely and had a picture taken with us. We were later on court with her in a very tense match where she was very inspiring not giving up until she was defeated by an amazing Dutch player, Jiske Griffioen, World No.1. On day 4 we were on court for the men’s semi finals and we were live on the BBC’s red button. The match was sold out with a large raucous audience which made it extra thrilling! Day 5 (sadly our last day) was by far our best performance and we were extremely proud of ourselves. We met World No.1 Gordon Reid after his match and even got a team photo with him! We got the chance to appear in three ceremonies and were congratulated by a very supportive crowd. - Esta MacInnes & Maddy Diggins
