All estuaries along the Coffs Coast are home to a vast range of species that can targeted by fly fishers. Where to go ?

There are numerous estuaries along the coast providing a variety of fly fishing options. What Fly should I use ?

Sinking Flies for Flathead, small weighted flies for Whiting and Bream, surface flies for Mangrove Jack and Bass. Best time to fish?

Different seasons for different species but fishing early morning and late arvo is a big advantage.

What’s there ?

All species that reside in the estuaries can be targeted on fly including Whiting, Bream, Flathead, Trevally and Mangrove Jack. What fish should I target ?

Begin targeting Flathead over the sand flats with sinking flies. There’s plenty of challenging species for fly anglers to target in the estuaries. What dream fish might I catch?

On fly, every fish small and large is exciting and rewarding. Imagine catching a big Mangrove Jack on fly!

Beach Fishing What you need to know

Fly fishing from the beaches is a challenge so wait for light winds and minor swell. Steep beaches with deep water and little or no breaking waves, beaches like Sapphire, Korora or similar. At wide beaches, fish the shallow gutters at low tide.

What’s there ?

Every fish along the beaches will take a fly but it’s getting a fly to them that will determine what species you’ll be targeting.

What fish should I target ?

Dart and Tailor are the target species from the steep beaches. Flathead will hold in very shallow gutters of wide beaches during low tide.

Small lightly weighted flies for Dart, whitebait patterns for Tailor, Sinking Minnow and Crabs patterns for Flathead.
