FASHION LOOK BOOK
2016 2017
This lookbook project would not have been possible without the time, effort and dedication of our students, professionals and volunteers. This second edition of the official lookbook features work from Fashion students and alumni created during their matriculation at Clark Atlanta University. The Fashion program is designed to prepare students for an array of positions in the fashion industry. We hope to continue to proudly showcase the gifts and talents of our students, as well as produce future lookbooks. To achieve this, the financial support and creative services of individuals, establishments and businesses that seek to provide a platform for recognizing budding design talent is greatly needed. If you are interested in supporting future lookbook projects through monetary donations, please contact Magnus Christon, Corporate Relations and Special Giving Manager at the Office of Insititutional Advancement and University Relations at mchriston@cau.edu or 404.880.8940. Alternatively, if you would like to provide support through in-kind sponsorship donations, please contact Ndirika Ekuma-Nkama, Senior Lecturer in Fashion and Creative Director for the CAU Fashion Lookbook at nekuma@cau.edu. Thank you for your time and support. Enjoy!

LETTER FROM THE CHAIR of the
Department of Art and Fashion Professor Christopher Hickey Dear Viewer, Welcome to the second edition of the CAU Fashion Lookbook featuring work from an array of gifted fashion students within the Department of Art and Fashion at the Clark Atlanta University. We have a great department that is built on innovative faculty and the diversity of rich talent and thought that comes from our students. The lookbook, I am glad to say is one of many ways our department is able to showcase the promising talent within our department. If your inclination is towards all things fashion, I invite you to witness the live fashion presentation of student work at the Annual Spring Fashion Show held in mid-April. The last year and a half has been an exciting time for our department. We relocated to Oglethorpe Hall, a newly renovated space furnished with cutting-edge equipment. In addition to the launch of the first official lookbook last year, CAU Fashion Week was introduced to facilitate a fashion-focused, career-driven series of events for students. During which, our retail store Fab Lab was officially opened. Our art students made waves at the annual Big Print event hosted by Atlanta Printmakers Studio. Lastly, one of our Art students received $25,000 as the winner of the Outwin Portrait Prize. As a result, her work was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D. C. I hope that our students will continue to find the facilities and environment at Oglethorpe Hall conducive for making meaningful connections; active learning ; and of course, creative expression. We appreciate your support, and hope you enjoy the latest fashion lookbook from Clark Atlanta University.
Sincerely,
Christopher Hickey, MFA Interim Chair, Department of Art and Fashion Professor of Art
