The power of wint er florals

Just as wedding styles have come a long way creatively in capturing a couple’s signature style, so has floral expression and design. Winter wedding popularity has given birth to a plethora of design options and Lindy LaMarco, lead designer at Carl House has a new playground in which to explore. Lindy’s winter floral canvas includes pinecones and evergreens with accents of stylized metal and crystal to add both sparkle and contrast. Winter floral trends also include the addition of textural natural elements such as berries, greenery and a strong lean towards loose, free-flowing and cascading bridal bouquets. Vibrant floral selections combined with subtle succulents are also a favorite. Even beloved pet ‘friends’ are becoming part of the festivities, with coordinating floral collars and accessories! Creativity abounds with these seasonal selections meant to accentuate and contribute to a couple’s extraordinary, memorable event! BB Webb is owner of Award Winning Carl House, an author, speaker and business coach. For more information on Carl House or BB Webb, visit www.carlhouse.com or www.arrivingwithbbwebb.com 20

Floral Advice

Think about including a smaller; toss bouquet in your floral order. Consider including unusual greenery plants. Asparagus fern and multi-colored colored coleus are attractive in summer bouquets. Holly and pine sprays are popular for December nuptials. Stalks of golden brown wheat are sentimental touch for harvest brides. Flowers and greenery in season are much more abundant and generally are less expensive. Some florists will rent silk altar arrangements and other pieces for a fraction of the cost of fresh flowers. Don’t forget to order flowers for your cake if you are wanting them. Ask your florist for guidance. His or her knowledge of the wedding protocol and ability to listen to your needs will ensure that you’ll get a good value for your money, and have the perfect floral accents to enhance your wedding day.

The enthusiastic and energetic team at Adorn Invitation truly adore working with all couples – the ability to allow couples individual personality to come to life on paper is always exciting. However so far, Adorns favorite client has been Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives star, Vanessa Williams. When Vanessa and her partner reached out do Adorn to create their Egyptian luxe styled wedding invitations – the team was absolutely thrilled! With a design process that took over 2 months – the final design was a stunning and lavish golden invitation that featured real 14k gold. Drawing on her Egyptian theme and inspiration from her lavish ‘Carmen Marc Volvo’ gown, Vanessa had a very basic idea of the details she wanted but the rest was pretty much left up to the design team to pitch ideas on colour themes, invitation designs and even down to the décor such as the flowers (peonies), golden table and seat cloths, golden laser cut cake holders. The ideas resonated with Vanessa and these designs

really trickled down into all elements of the entire wedding. The colour of Marsala (Pantones colour of the year) was chosen to combine it with highlights of gold and she really loved it. She also loved the attention to detail with including the lace feature on her dress onto the invitations. Vanessa stationery set included a wedding invitation card, RSVP cards, security information card, accommodation card, custom envelopes for invitations, reply cards and place cards. The envelope enclosure was laser cut from a bright gold, shimmery metallic paper from a curious metallic range. Adorn invitations also used a gold foiling technique for the stamp on the outside of the envelope. This contrasted beautifully against the rich Marsala base. At Adorn Invitations; they fell in love with Vanessa Williams’ custom invites (and with her blessing) they put her invitation design into production and made it affordable to everyday couples – without the 14 carat gold plated décor! lanc de Bleu Cuvée Mousseux continues to gain popularity in the Wedding Community. Its delightful combination of taste, visual appeal and soothing color is what makes Blanc de Bleu the quintessential bubbly for the wedding toast. Its crystal-clear virgin glass bottle shows off the bubbly’s gemstone blue hue. This shade of blue symbolizes loyalty and faith, exactly how couples feel toward each other when they exchange their vows. When you combine its clear blue color with its classy label, Blanc de Bleu looks as stunning as the newly married couple ready to toast a new beginning.

A Dry, Crisp Bubbly with a Hint of Blueberry As sparkling wine continues to grow in popularity, Blanc de Bleu is also winning fans for its taste. Made with grapes grown in Northern California vineyards, known for their cool and clear breezes, Blanc de Bleu bubbly tickles the palate with a subtle hint of organic blueberry. “The base wine of cuvee for Blanc de Bleu is the same fruit I use in our high-end, methode champenoise programs,” explains

Bob Stashak, champagne master for Blanc de Bleu. “We add just enough organic blueberry juice concentrate to make a subtle impact. People are more pleasantly surprised to find the wine dry and crisp, instead of being another overly sweet, flavored wine.” Blanc de Bleu’s beautiful blue color is different from what you will see in any other sparkling wine. The vision behind creating Blanc de Bleu was to give people a reason to celebrate. Elegant packaging for this dry, crisp sparkling wine inside a striking bottle has captured the fascination of couples everywhere. You should not be surprised when you see Blanc de Bleu at the next wedding or big celebration you attend.

Weddings Every Day, Everywhere “Every day, everywhere, someone is getting married. We want Blanc de Bleu to be the sparkling beverage of choice at all weddings,” says Fred Franzia, CEO of Bronco Wine Company, the worldwide producer and supplier of Blanc de Bleu. Blanc de Bleu is available in 750ml and 187ml bottles. Facebook.com/blancdebleu

Your Guide to an

unforgettable

Honeymoon Getaway By Betsy Harter

The pressure to pick the perfect honeymoon destination can feel overwhelming for any couple. The endless options for amazing getaways only adds to the confusion. To help narrow down your choices, here are our clients’ five most requested honeymoon destinations.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica offers the perfect mix of romance and adventure for the active couple. From ziplining through the Sarapiqui rain forest, to kayaking in Tortuguero National Park, to traversing sky bridges in the Arenal Volcano region, Costa Rica is an explorer’s paradise. After a long day outdoors, immerse yourself in natural hot springs or enjoy a healing massage. Many tours include transport among areas so that honeymooners can enjoy the vibrant city life in San Jose, the peaceful beaches at the Manuel Antonio Marine Reserve, and the high-adventure central regions. With dozens of beaches on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, honeymooners can experience black volcanic sands at Playa Hermosa or the sparkling white sands of the north Pacific coast.

Hawaii

Whether your goal is to relax on a secluded beach, pamper yourself at a lush resort, or spend all day hiking, you can find it in Hawaii. When it comes to romance, the “magic isle” of Maui can’t be beat. Rich with aloha, the spirit of love that permeates Hawaiian culture, Maui draws honeymooners with its intimate sunrises, peaceful waterfalls and serene beaches. If you seek adventure, the “Big Island” of Hawaii and its countless craters and volcanoes may be just your style. Similarly, Hawaii’s greenest island, Kauai, is teeming with natural wonder, including parks, caves, and waterfalls. Lanai offers the best of all worlds…you can spend your day soaking in nature, then return to your four-star luxury resort for some indulgence. On the other hand, Oahu offers an unbeatable mix of history, shopping, scenery, and culture. You can spend one day hitting the city sights—touring the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor—and another day out in nature surfing the North Shore and snorkeling at Honauma Bay. 34

e

Italy

You don’t have to visit the tropics to experience romance. In fact, few destinations are as breathtaking as Italy. Meandering gondola rides, spectacular sunsets, rolling countryside, and savory cuisine are just some of the reasons that Italy is one of the most popular areas for honeymooners. Foodies tend to gravitate toward Tuscany, while history buffs enjoy Rome and Florence. Wherever you go in Italy, however, you can be certain of one thing: a piece of your heart will stay there per sempre.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Punta Cana’s unspoiled beaches will leave you speechless. Elegant resorts are situated along 40 miles of bright white sand on this island’s eastern coast. Although lush and tropical like most Caribbean islands, Punta Cana’s Spanish influence gives everything from its architecture to its culture a European flair. If your goal is to do more than just unwind, a host of activities comes along with plenty of relaxation. From deep sea fishing, to whale watching, to some of the world’s most pristine golf courses, a honeymoon in Punta Cana is sure to be unforgettable.

Riviera Maya, Mexico Photo by Tradd Harter

Warm breezes, ancient ruins, tropical beaches, and lush resorts make Rivera Maya, Mexico, perfect for honeymooners who want the beauty and location of Cancun, but who don’t want the college-aged parties that come with it. This beach is rich with history and activities. It is just a short trip to different Mayan ruins, as well as beautiful cenotes that will leave you breathless. These swimming holes are naturally formed by limestone bedrock and are filled with transparent fresh water that has been filtered by the earth.

Our spectacular world is overflowing with natural wonders that are perfect for a romantic getaway after your wedding. Let one of our honeymoon specialists help you plan an unforgettable first vacation together.

The Cabin

The smell of a fresh lit campfire becomes nostalgic of cabin adventures, homemade meals over the fire, hiking and even kayaking. We reached out for something with a hip twist of inspiration, from camping in a cabin to classic traditional elements of a wedding. We took a traditional open fire breakfast with eggs, pancakes, sausage and a delicious succotash and served it on aged iron skillets and then garnished with fresh fruits. This delicious creation was fresh from a local Athens favorite: The Branded Butcher. Drinks were mixed by Ryan Smith of The Bourbon Bar (get recipe on CWM Website). While the cake and invitation tables are vintage 1970’s wooden stump tables from Vic’s Vintage, they’re still able to shine in their natural environment. Now take our lovely campers Eva and Trey; mix in everything we have mentioned with the wild outdoors and you’ll see all the love that was found at the cabin.
