The Fog Harvesting Machine 5th semester | Group work of 2 Done at the ‘Arkitektskolen Aarhus’ | Unit D
In the first phase we conducted the research on a weather phenomenon (fog), and in the second phase the study of lightweight structures took place. Combining two weather phenomena and a structure, we had to decide on a time scale and a placement for our Investigation to take place in. The first end product was a more archlike structure that was placed in a foggy place catching and magnifying the effects that fog and frost have on the structure. The transportable Pavilion has an homogenous outer look but a vivid inner life.
08/53
The inner membranes are placed in different positions to allow more or less light to come in and more or less condensation to form. After the first testing’s, the idea to transform the membrane pavilion into a moisture catching machine was provided. Following this thinking path, the Pavilion was transformed and redesigned to collect fog, and be transformed into a landscape changing structure that could be placed in dry places in order to collect water from the condensation that occurs at night. An oasis is so formed underneath.

The study of the Enclosed vs. the Open 6th semester | Group work of 2 Done at the ‘Arkitektskolen Aarhus’ | Unit D
Prora is an old Nazi vacation resort located in the island of Rügen. Prora, was conceived as a holiday machine to prepare the soldiers for war, as they got used to the strict vacational routine. The Prora complex is a long structure placed along the coast, dividing the ocean from the land. The Building is shaped in a comb like structure, with service wings and the rooms placed homogeneously facing the sea-side along a corridor. The complex was never finished due to the start of the War, and was later used as a military training base. Our work focuses on the seriality of the complex, designing a strategy that can be applied throughout the complex.
12/53
The spaces inside the building were created through contrast. We differentiated between open- public and closed- private uses. We focused on the logical placement of the enclosed spaces, categorising them and analysing the relation between each other, creating a hierarchy. Three deciding factors were of paramount importance: The distance between them, the view connection and the materiality. The In-between space contains a circulation system that allows you to stay inside the main horizontal part of the building. The Façade showcases the uses found in the In-between space, through different cladding types, that also guide your way through the interior.

Maxwerk Bachelor Thesis | Solo work Chair of Urban Architecture | Prof. Dietrich Fink
During this project out goal was to transform the still in use hydropower plant called “Maxwerk” into a restaurant or café. There were no restrictions in regard to whether or not the hydraulic plant should still remain in use. I order to gain space I decided to completely transform the interior of the building into a restaurant taking away the old machinery but maintaining the structure of the building, working with the already existing rooms and just adding to it as well as refining.
18/53
In order to gain outside space and create an interesting volumetric figure, I decided to transform the upper rooms intro terraces, allowing for a more complex shape to appear as well as hybrid outside-inside spaces to form. To the interior, a staircase was added which also contained the wet rooms. The ground floor was transformed into a restaurant while the first floor was transformed int oa café / event hall being this space much more flexible.

Friedenskirche | Reinvented 9 semester | Group work of two Chair for Spatial Arts and Lighting Design | Prof. Deubzer
Our goal in this project was to keep the existing building as it is but to better the deficits we encountered in the urban and the interior layer, without disrupting the existing structure. We found great potential in the interesting Roof construction and the significant connection to the outdoor space. However the whole complex lacked identity, it was not recognisable as a church. We started by creating a center point to the whole complex, which would be the baptismal font in the interior of the church.
22/53
We started by creating a center point to the whole complex, which would be the baptismal font in the interior of the church. This center point can be noticed on every layer of the design. The Building ensemble around the church is positioned in a way that makes the church stand out. Through the eye catching faรงade made out of copper the church appears to be important and present and creates it own address next to the Castle in Burghausen.

Dwelling in Hydro Patterns 10th semester | Group work of 3 Done at the “École Spèciale d’Architecture” | Prof. D’Arienzo
One of the most important aspects when dealing with the site was to keep the industrial character while putting in uses that are going to benefit the neighborhood. We found the surrounding area to be very fragmented. In three phases we proposed to regenerate the neighbourhood. Phase 1 : The regeneration of the boulevard, by unifying it through a continuous use of pavement patterns, to create a sense of direction and identity.
28/53
In Phase 2 : we connect the nodes, that we identified as important for the community. Such as a sports node, university node...And our water recycling node, which we further developed. We connected them by using the patterns, which follow the old railway network. In Phase 3 we regenerated and focused on the nodes. Surrounding the site we found only few public green spaces, that is why we decided to revive the existing green natural space and turn it into a form of public urban forest.

Architectural and cultural Uncertainty 12th semester | Master Thesis | Solo work Chair for Spatial Arts and lighting design | Prof. Deubzer Chair for arch. history and curatorial studies | Prof. Lepik
My master thesis project is a theoretical, sociological study on conservation and urban regeneration. The goal in creating this project was to contribute to a more democratic, fair, open and humane Architecture. An Architecture that is able to respond flexibly to the shifting cultural processes and that avoids obsolete urban structures. Uncertain architecture is connected to the cultural loss that can be found in my home island Tenerife.
34/53
With more and more museums, libraries and cultural institutions closing as well as more and more buildings are being abandoned The project aims to create a participatory environment for the inhabitants to decide inside their community what they need and how they want to build it. In this case the role of the architect is restrained to the locator of the action points as well as the one who lays out the grid that enables the inhabitants to build their future.

I was in charge of preparing client presentations of the design tasks I was involved in, which involved preparing material test, rendering, models, and visuals. All in all this was not a conventional internship, you are encouraged to take decisions, express them and be an active part oft he team. For me the most valuable experience was getting to know the talented professionals that make RPBW the way it is.

Villa Familie Rittweger team collaboration | on-going Project Manuel Herz Architekten
I joined a team of 2 in the preliminary and approval planing phase of a luxury family housing project in Munich, next to the english Garden. During my time with the team I worked on the material concept and design of the Ground-floor, the children’s rooms as well as the corridor and staircases. I worked on the design of the Fassade, Fassade openings, materiality and sun shading system.
42/53
I worked closely with companies to find a system that would work in the curved glass façade in order to offer openable automatic outside sun shading. We worked on client presentations, renderings, models, plans and design elements discussing closely with the clients and the lead architect.

Ehrenfeld, Cologne on-going Project Manuel Herz Architekten
This project consists of a 20.000m2 housing and commercial use block in Ehrenfeld, south of the center of Cologne in Germany. During the preliminary design stage we have calculated and rearranged uses and areas according to a strict catalogue provided by our client the firm BPD. Ww came up with the concept of small scale family housing that creates a sort of carpet, topped up by 8 floor high “tower” and surrounded by a perimeter block building, which is meant to mimmic the surrounding urban structure and guard the family houses in the courtyard from outside acoustic inconveniences.
46/53
I have worked on arranging not only the over ground areas but also the parking spaces, sub-dived in two units. While working on the Underground level a plethora of regulations and safety actions had to be taken into account. I also worked on creating functional and innovative floor-plans for almost all parts of the project as well as façade and material studies through visualisations and models. As a specific task I have been in charge of communicating with the client as well as the technical planners and I have created client meeting presentations as well as organised the internal structure of the project.

ReInvent the Museum _ 10th semester | Work in a group of 5 Chair for arch. history and curatorial studies | Prof. Lepik
After the semester Project named “ReInvent the museum where we had to think about how the museum of the future would look like, we where asked to curate an exhibition showcasing the end results of the Semester in the Architecture Museum Augsburg. We planed and created a system to showcase the posters and models, as well as did research on the city and history of the museums in Augsburg. The Poster trees were fabricated out of steel and made so that they could be dismounted and used for other exhibitions.

Thomas and myself have been working on a series of sculptures made out of steel and cladded with high shine polished steel, matte steel and black painted wood. The Structure had to me measured and planed out, renderings had to me made in order to find sponsors. During the collaboration I was in charge of planing the structure and cladding, as well as the visual aspects The sculpture has to reflect the environment, so it was important to show it in different atmospheres.

Stamping Ground A school in Karsi Kunda | Group work Organised by the NKA Foundation | The Gambia
Stamping Ground was an earth architecture workshop taking place in the Kassi Kunda village in eastern Gambia between July 22nd 2018 and October 21st 2018. This workshop was an opportunity to learn about the practicalities of rammed earth, adobe brick, thatch construction, and climate appropriate design, while contributing to community development in The Gambia.
52/53
Through the workshop we immersed ourselves in the local lifestyle and explored local cultures, issues, technologies and potentials. Together with the local youth we adapted and developed the design utilising our new combined knowledge, and constructed a climate appropriate, locally influenced community asset, a vocational school.
