My design range in the past years variated from small scale to masterplan scale,and I managed to work alone and in group with results I can be proud of.I strongly believe that the diverse working environment at the international master of KU Leuven and at de Architekten Cie.enriched my design abilities and graphic eye. I enjoy the change and the freshness of starting from zero every project.I find my strengths and passion in concept and visual representation.I believe that a strong concept must
relate to the historical,spacial context and the users.I always aspire to achieve the balance of tradition and innovation.In Architecture I find fascinating that passion and inspiration grows with the project: there is no finish point in designing. I am excited to enrich my career in the architecture field entering a new office as every studio has a different point of view. “When we started We Work eight years ago, we knew the world didn’t need another office building, it needed spaces where people could collaborate on projects, connect and create together and potentially change the world.” Adam Neumann - founder We Work
to the public and accommodate public facilities. New multi-tenant office buildings have large floor areas and complementary customs, specifically designed to be used by large and smaller companies at the same time.This allows users to network better, collaborate and grow.
Nowadays, existing multi-tenant office buildings are being replaced by new office typologies where the separation between office space, workplaces and the public domain is beginning to fade.
OPEN is located at the Kronenburg Office Park in Amstelveen. Just 10 minutes by bike from the Zuidas, it is the perfect office location. It is distinguished by more green compared to the Zuidas, while it is still well accessible. OPEN is located in the center of the Kronenburg Office Park and has the qualities and identity to revitalize the area.
Future multi-tenant offices will become more part of the public space.Because of this public nature,they will be more open

Open and dynamic The western part is the most open and dynamic part of the building. The building opens inwards and outwards to the park, letting a lot of natural light in.
Efficient and flexible The eastern part is an efficient office building with a central core. Deep floor plan with large spans make the building flexible to use.

OPEN - a hybrid The result between both typologies is a hybrid and open building that benefits from the qualities of a disk typology as a central core. It is light, dynamic, flexible and efficient.

The publication explores through a careful research sensitive topics in the city of Calais. It offers an insight on the analysis and design process by showing how my train of thoughts developed through the artefacts produced.The drawings accompany the entire process and drove me to find a concept design. On the base of these strategy the research focuses on the changing identity of Calais: from Lace industry to ‘Ville fantôme’ and from strategic point for international conflict to strategic passage for asylum seekers. Vacant lace factories and bunkers are a clear icon of the history of the city: the study explores the potential offered by these elements and their importance, as they mutated simultaneously with Calais. A brown field, former ensemble of lace factories with a glorious standing facade, was chosen to host an industry of jobs: a centre for learning and co-working that responds strongly
to the unemployment in the city and the low numbers of young workers that migrate to cities that can offer advantages missing in Calais.The centre will provide a starting point for reactivating the entire area and the vacant factories in the district. An evocative compound formed by a XlX cent. fort and a XX cent bunker offered the perfect location for designing a suggestive memorial dedicated not only to the past but also to the present wars. A place of observation and contemplation: to sensitise people to the reality of the migration topic. The wall, linked to the approach of the municipality towards squatters is an important element in both proposals, as a permeable tool to cross the spaces in the building in one and as a proper hurdle as a reference to the migration borders in the other. The path of the design process was developed in parallel and the exploration of the two ensembles enriched one an other conducing to the final output.

The bar graph represents the use of space that i could see from the facade lines of a few selected streets in the city centre.Every line represents a building,the length equals the number of floors and the thickness of the line equals to the visual impact of the building. By isolating the residential I could noticed how the vacant lace factories are surrounded by a higher number of vacant shops and houses.this reflection pushed my interest.

It can be observed on the miniature city drawing how the industrial buildings are well included in the overall appearance and urban fabric. Because of the need of light the lace factories were provided with big windows and the interiors are only occupied by columns to suspend the weight of the machines. For these reasons the factories can easily provide space for new functions. The plot shown above represents the remaining of a big industrial site demolished after being squatted: this procedure left many wide sites in the city centre empty , as they are demolished prior a project for their future development. Meanwhile new developments occupy areas in the periphery. My design wants to be the first of the reconstruction of the site, giving guidelines for the future development.. The shape of the site takes from the Machart industry, placed in front of it, so the two buildings can face each other as the two Symbols of the economy in the city in the past and nowadays: lace factory and learning + co-working centre.

Calais is investing on the youth together with tourism, in favour of education and jobs.The design of a learning and co-working centre invests in the creative class and provides for young workers an inspiring working environment within Calais. By activating the economy the aim is that companies, when reached a certain level of growth, will move from the co-working hub to the vacant factories surrounding. And by offering new jobs in the area the urban environment will be repopulated. The proposed design is open to the outside, a permeable space in opposition to the closure phenomenon, common reaction to squatting in Calais. The closure towards the street has a very negative impact in the urban surround-

ing, but a new relationship between the plots and the street can reactivate the urban plinth.In order to involve a big part of the unemployed population in the re-habilitation project, the design includes areas, dedicated to different activities. Individuals and the companies are accompanied by a team of experts that guides in all the phases of the process in order to help them achieve a successful experiment..The area dedicated to co-working provides everything that a new company needs. On the natural dunes of Sangatte BlĂŠriot-Plage stands fort Lapin. The environment is suggestive and its history evocative. Part of the network of fortifications built around Calais in the XIX cent., it became in 1941 a shelter used by the nazis alongside theAtlantic wall structures.The peculiarity of the site is that a Bunker of the same size and shape stands next to it, evoking the mutual similarities and contrasts. In light of this symbolism my intention was to produce a sensitive design, in relation with the nature of the place,to make the experience in the place unique. The project aims at creating in Calais a suggestive memorial dedicated not only to the past but also to the present wars. A place of observation and contemplation: to sensitise people to the reality of the migration topic.

The element of XXl century war that I selected is an intangible one. I chose to offer an experience through architecture that links in a subtle way to the migration to Calais. The topography of the dunes is modified by the emerging of a light tower, a golden landmark that pushes the curiosity of people to get closer and walk over the bunker to reach it. A new passage is created that gives the access to an area at first hidden by the bunker, through which the tower can be reached.The passage is composed by accessible but uncomfortable openings in the wall, in order to make the person passing feel a sense of uncertainty by passing this border. The zone behind the wall does not let immediate access to the stairs, it is a a buffer-zone that has to be crossed in order to arrive to the tower, in a way like Calais in the passage to
England.This area is open air but shaded by big self standing buttresses that reflect the inside of the fort like an extension of them in a different key.Their color and shape gives a sense of oppression as they close up on top of the space . Finally stairs lead up to the tower: inside, a view opens up to both sides: a direct one on the urban landscape and an indirect one through the periscope tower towards the sea. As an element of disillusion the tower shows only through a mirror system the view towards Dover, there is no possibility of climbing up the tower to have the direct view,to verify if the image seen in the periscope is a projection of a real view. On the other hand the urban landscape view is clear and directly brings back to the reality of the place.

‘Archipelago of illusions’ aims to differentiate from pop-up cities and get closer to a way of design adaptable to the city it’s applied to. The crisis of the contemporary city is made by generic landscapes and lack of meanings. The project comes as a critique to the masterplan of the new city of Malaysia Medini: built without context and basing its division on the very critiqued zoning concept. We started the analysis and the design from the morphology of the territory: the levels of the terrain are used as layers in which we implemented a green belt and determined a natural transition between the flats of the city and the hill terrain. Running along the hillside the green belt filtrates water, that is collected in nearby depression sites to prevent flooding. We integrated elastic deformation into the grid which is a transition between the geometric form and the organic form of the city’s topography.
Starting from the intention of decongesting the city centre we decided to propose an alternative to zoning and to create 8 islands .The micro-cities that together compose the Archipelago Are indipendent thanks to mixed use of the areas. Each island has a central hub defined by an architectural artefact,a landmark that dominates its area of influence.We used illusion as a tool to give our own interpretation of absolute architecture. We introduce the illusion element to our absolute architectures to push the curiosity of people to look at things in a different way. It came as a critique to the deformed vision that the world shows us every day, without letting us explore the reality of things. Archipelago of illusions unites in a masterplan meaningful design with a practical strategy. It is a conscious model to be used by conscious architects for future developments.

The inspiration for the design of this illusion comes from the Ames room revisited in the big scale.the two buildings framed by a square show a perfectly symmetrical perspective, A water collector placed in front of the two buildings is part of the illusion game: it modifies the base line of the buildings making them look at the same distance. When moving away from the vantage point the illusion is revealed: the two buildings have different dimensions.

Dampoort station in Gent historically acted as a gateway to the city center. Even today it is the first stop for visitors arriving from Antwerp, and the Netherlands. the area has undergone diverse reformations to its urban fabric structure in attempt to deal with traffic, social inclusion and the brownfields left behind by the industrial sector. A future vision plans for the wasteland to become a multifunctional healthy part of the city,defined by different layers of urban complexity. 6 groups of 6 people were challenged to work together to create a village: a cluster of different entities, completely dependent on each other but self sustaining as a whole. The project of the new train station for Dampoort is part of the village and focuses on the mobility topic. It provides the exchange point for all modes of transportation and provides
all comforts to much the commuters to leave the vehicles outside of this line. The station will be a smart building that contributes to its surroundings through culture as well as efficiency. It is designed to make the building future proof. This project is a response to the issues facing Dampoort today, envisioned for 2030. However, it is to be considered a prototype for dealing with city gates in that it is flexible to adapt to a number of different scenarios.By introducing green and blue fibers to the city, harvesting solar and kinetic energy, collecting rainwater, and providing equal opportunity for inhabitants, this vision alleviates the environment from the existing urban burden that doesn’t contribute by giving back to nature

The design studio focused on the importance of economy in the city:The renewal of the European city achieved an attractive living and working environment, but the industry was driven out of the city. The city is turning into a place of consumption, without production. The aim of the project was to reactivate the area between the old industrial constructions and Brusselsesteenweg, creating together with other students a general masterplan, but each following the design of one building. My project reinterprets the old Industry shapes to which it has to confront, designing 3 longitudinal buildings that start from the same hight of the neighbour structure and elevating till 28 meters on the street side. In between the volumes 2 open areas are created: a big
public square for collective use of residents and workers, and a collective garden, fragmented in 4 and only accessible by residents of the last stripe of buildings. In order to allow a safe access for the pedestrians to the inner courtyard and for the residents to the second and third stripe I decided to separate circulation space: the production area takes the shape of a bridge, allowing pedestrians to pass underneath through big openings towards the public square on the ground floor. The Bridge shape also is useful to divide the production process in a line of phases, separating the entrance of the first material from the exit of the final product. The material gets transported to the double height first floor on big platforms, worked and brought down on the other side for distribution.
