Short Description Art and Form Project focuses on the design development followed during the act of creation and the specific steps and techniques that stand behind the design and manufacturing of a product. The challenge of this project was to create a jersey top by having as main source of inspiration an artwork displayed in the local museum ( such as a painting, sculpture, decoration piece, furniture) . The main goal was to introduce students in the specific stages of the design process starting with the inspirational theme visualized through sketches and fashion illustrations, moodboards, process techniques and ending with the finished product which would summarize all the representative elements and stages from the design process correlated to the main source of inspiration.

Reflection In my opinion, Art and Form Project helped me perceive in a more effective way the steps that should be followed during a design process for a professional approach when developing a product or an entire fashion collection. For this project, I had to manage to transpose a piece of art into a piece of garment by taking into account its shape, silhouette, lines, colors, texture, shadows and also by choosing the most representative aesthetic elements . During the design activity, I made use of special idea generation and documentation tools, such as the collage technique, sketches, photo session, making of inspirational boards but also promotional materials reflecting the identity of the fashion product (eg. hand tag containing logo, picture of inspirational artwork and finished product). As main source of inspiration I chose an abstract decorative artwork with accentuated organic, bulky shapes and skin tones that I tried to transpose into my top through a nude colored jersey, designed to be fitted to the body in order to give the impression of skin. I have also included fringes in order to reflect some elements of the art work which were meant to dynamise the entire construction and give an abstract touch to the top. The main focus of the top was a rounded collar on which I applied by hand beads, transparent fabrics, which were giving a colorful, abstract mixture of elements. In addition, in order to reflect more the complexity of the artwork, I tried to play with different layers of fabrics, fact that can be observed both, on front and on the back of the top. Apart from being introduced to different stages from the design development and idea generation, I was participating in pattern courses where I got an insight into the basic patter making of a T-shirt, but I also experienced different sewing techniques aimed for jersey fabrics that helped me put my fashion idea into practice. In conclusion, Art and Form project focused on the idea generating process, from the inspirational theme to the finished sewn garment. This gave me an useful insight into the design steps and tools which I should follow for an organized activity into fashion design, but also I learned the basic sewing techniques for creating a top, by mixing the inspiration with my own creativity and imagination related to the given task.
