Cosmic Classroom: Planet Safari 1 hour | 175 student max Cosmic Classroom combines the power of the planetarium with the thrill of a live science demonstration.
Planet Safari Get ready for a vacation among the stars in this brand-new planetarium show that allows students to zoom around the galaxy exploring what makes each planet unique and discovering why each stop may not make the best vacation destination. Finish up your journey with a live science demonstration that brings you up close and personal with what travelers would experience if they dared to land on the surface of another planet in the Milky Way. STEAM Workshops: Inventor’s Lab 1 hour | 40 students per session Inventing is the name of the game in STEAM workshops. Students will work in small groups to follow the design process from brainstorming to prototyping to design analysis. Let us tailor this program to enhance concepts you are currently teachings. Science Alive Demonstrations 30 minutes | Groups larger than 175 students Bringing more than 175 students? Ask about our Science Alive Demonstrations See science in action in this exciting live science demonstration! Everyone gets in on the fun of learning science concepts in an engaging way and select volunteers will get the chance to assist with cool science experiments. Aligns with select Next Generation Science Standards
My Town Guided Discovery 1 hour | 2nd grade only | 40 students per session Learn what it takes to be a doctor, veterinarian, store clerk and more as you explore My Town to complete certain jobs and earn a paycheck reward! Aligns with select WV College and Career Readiness Standards for Social Studies relating to Civics and Economics
Guided Art Demonstration and Discussion 30 minutes | 60 students per session Delve into the art of printmaking by watching some basic printing techniques and discussing finished prints in the Images of Social Justice from the Segura Arts Studio exhibit. Aligns with select Elementary / Middle School 21st Century Visual Art Standards
School Programming Fall 2017 Live Theater – Addams Family November 1st starting at 9:00am 2 hours 30 minutes | Recommended for Middle and High School

Field trips to live theater enhance literary knowledge, tolerance, and empathy among students. Bring your group to see Addams Family performed by the Charleston Light Opera Guild. The show is based upon The Addams Family characters created by Charles Addams in his single-panel gag cartoons, which depict a ghoulish American family with an affinity for all things macabre.
School Programming Coming in Spring 2018 The Clay Center will be welcoming three brand new exhibits to the Avampato Discovery Museum! Opening in late 2017, students of all ages are introduced to interactive exhibits featuring water, health and music! As part of these exciting additions, new Guided Discovery programming will be available this spring!
