I would like to extend my gratitude to the many community organizations, volunteers and sponsors for their hard work and dedication in making Clearview Township a great place to live and enjoy! I encourage everyone to use this guide to discover activities and events that interest you and your family. From the award-winning Small Halls Festival, to the 42nd annual Sunnidale Winterama and the many amazing community events throughout the fall and winter, there sure is a lot to experience in Clearview! The Clearview Community Theatre is looking for new members for its 2017-2018 season. We are committed to bringing all age groups in the community together to create a friendly, open and supportive environment for the creation of high quality, local theatrical productions, with special emphasis on the development of young people’s theatre. Singers are invited to participate in the troupes, with no auditions necessary. Ukulele members must have their own ukulele.

There are thousands of snowmobilers in Ontario and one of Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club’s many trails crisscrossing the township. Don’t forget that trail users are required to display a valid snowmobile permit that entitles you to enter and travel any open OFSC Prescribed Trail at any time during the winter as often as you wish. Where do my permit dollars go? Permits generate the revenues OFSC needs to maintain snowmobile trails and buy groomers. They’re the only source of funding for trail operations. To ensure that your money goes to the OFSC district you ride most, it is important to buy your permit from a club in that district. Where can I purchase my permit? Permits are available at J&R Cycle, JT Snowmobile Repair, as well as numerous outlets in Stayner and New Lowell and surrounding areas.

Snowshoeing

Just because its winter does not mean you cannot explore the great trails in Clearview. There is snowshoeing available at many local spots. Devil’s Glen Provincial Park This non-operating park, located on Road 124 just west of Singhampton features the highest peaks along the Escarpment, 460 meters above sea level. Snowshoe out to the lookout platform and admire the steep bedrock gorge and sweeping views of the entire valley. Clearview EcoPark Located at 300 Mowat St. Stayner, the Clearview EcoPark is a an accessible park filled with native plant and wildlife species. Be sure to stop by year round to witness the diversity that exists within the ecosystem. Great for snowshoeing, one can spend time exploring the park and watch for the vast variety of wildlife in the area. Nottawasaga Bluffs Here you will find a series of snowshoe trails. Located just east of Singhampton follow the signs on Hwy 124 to the beautiful conservation area. Daily parking fee of $6.50. Pretty River Provincial Park This park has provincially significant geological features related to glacial and post-glacial processes along one of the highest point of the Niagara Escarpment. Features include meltwater channels, moraine and talus slopes. Although the park area is without facilities, and camping is not permitted, visitors may enjoy hiking, nature appreciation, fishing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on designated OFSC trails. The Bruce Trail passes through the park. Pretty River Valley is part of the Niagara Escarpment Parks system and the Niagara Biosphere Reserve. Visitors are asked to respect the natural features, which are

Beer around the bay Beer Around the Bay is a new Simcoe County marketing initiative that showcases five local breweries in partnership with Clearview Township, the Town of Collingwood and the Town of Wasaga Beach. With the growing number of breweries in the area including Creemore Springs, Collingwood, Northwinds, Side Launch and Wasaga Beach Brewing Co. It is no shock that there is a growing interest in their production. Get Involved in our Community – Volunteer !

Why Volunteer ? Volunteering within your community is not only a great way to give back but is highly rewarding. Volunteers are an extremely important part of our society. Many of our community events are organized and run by volunteers. Get Your Diploma! Remember students, you need a MINIMUM of 40 hours of community service to graduate high school.

Builds your Resume! Volunteering is also a great way to network and can help you land a job. Many volunteer opportunities can lead to paid positions.

Mental Health! Studies have shown that volunteering leads to lower depression rates, higher life satisfaction and increased social skills. Gets you Scholarships! When applying for post-secondary schools, having volunteer experience is a great way to stand out and help get you scholarships to pay for school! Have fun! Volunteering can be fun! Find positions you are interested in and get a bunch of friends involved. Opportunities to meet great people and learn new skills all while helping your community. Your time spent volunteering can be a fun and rewarding time.

There are many community groups in Clearview Township seeking volunteers. Whether you are looking to help out at your favourite community event, tend to beautiful gardens in our downtown areas or support a local service group, there is always something you can do! Check out the Community Contacts for a listing of organizations that provide programs and services in Clearview. They are always looking for more volunteers. If you are already active in our community, THANK YOU! Become a Tourism Ambassador!

The Clearview Tourism Office, located at 220 Huron St. strives to be open during the tourist season (May to Sept). Clearview Township relies on dedicated volunteers to provide tourism and local information to visitors. Training provided! If you are able to commit to volunteering for one or more Saturdays or Sundays between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from May 20 to October 1, 2017, please contact Amanda Murray, Tourism Coordinator at amurray@ clearview.ca Clearview Community Policing Committee:

We are a group of volunteers consisting of local citizens, Clearview Councillors and staff and representatives of the Huronia West OPP. Our main concerns include traffic management, community safety and drug/alcohol awareness. We meet once a month and welcome student volunteers as a way of obtaining their community hours for their OSSD.
