WHAT OUR

clients ARE SAYING

ABOUT US 

I have nothing but good to say about my experiences with Clearwater Properties. Our agent is energetic and hard working and if I ask a question she will do everything she can to provide the answer. I have purchased and sold two properties and looking to purchase a third with her as my Agent. I have worked with a number of Agents over the years and never enjoyed working with any as much as I have enjoyed working with this Agent from Clearwater Properties. She is the best.



Clearwater Properties went above and beyond for us! My agent helped us find the right home, represented our interests at all times (our purchase had multiple offers), helped us through a steep learning curve on the complicated financing we pursued. Her banking background was really appreciated in helping educate us! I also appreciated her advice/input on the local areas as we moved from out of state. If you are buying or selling, do yourself a favor and give Clearwater a call!



Our agent was very responsive to all of our questions and provided excellent details that required zero follow-up. This type of customer service is getting harder and harder to find.



Our Clearwater agent was great with assisting us throughout the entire buying process. As first time buyers it can seem like a daunting process, and she was quick to respond and thorough with all of our questions no matter how frequent or mundane. We would recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell in the area.



I listed with Clearwater and in less than a week I had two offers! Our agent obviously knows his stuff.... he is very business-like without being a stuffed shirt. He kept me in the loop on everything happening and always took the time to answer my questions and explain anything I didn’t understand. If I had more land to sell, you bet he would be the first person I would call. If you are smart he will be the first person YOU call.



The Broker we worked with at Clearwater Properties was absolutely the Best!! Great communication, and she worked so hard getting our property sold. She went above and beyond!





She worked with us through a complicated transaction and paid attention to all the details and kept things on tract. She always put our interests first and communicated with us regularly. I have purchased a variety of properties over the years and have never had better service from a Realtor. We felt fortunate to have her as our agent... you will too.

Clearwater Properties impressed us from the moment we walked into the office and they continue to do so. We informed our agent what we were looking for and she was always on top of every listing that came up that might fit our needs. The purchase went smooth and she went above and beyond her role as a real estate agent. We will recommend her to anyone we know and will make other transactions with her as well. Top notch!

CLASSIC  SKATE  TOURING

Nordic Skiing

It’s A Favorite Winter Pastime by: Jen Olson

Winters are longer and colder in Montana than in most of the lower forty-eight, so making the most of the brisk air is less of an option and more of a necessity. Thankfully, there are many options to recreate outdoors during the chilliest time of the year. Alpine skiing, ice skating, sledding, snowmobiling, and skijoring -- being pulled on skis by a horse or canine -- are just a few of the outdoor activities families participate in to enjoy the longer colder months of December, January and February. However, Nordic skiing -- or cross country, as many call it -- has maintained its popularity over the years, as athletes and casual adventurers pursue the groomed trails and untracked roads of this beautiful state.

What makes Nordic skiing so attractive is its ease on the body -- it is also an amazing physical activity -- and the pocket book, with forest roads, snowy glades and adorable hidden cabin destinations as some of its venues. Whether one skis classic or skate, trail systems across the state provide opportunities for casual and competitive skiing to keep the winters active and enchanting. Frost-covered trees and snow globe horizons make the sport one of the most beautiful and serene for winter days. The wide variety of Nordic trail systems in Montana provide an opportunity for outdoor adventure for any athletic ability. For the occasional cross-country skier, there are groomed classic trails with warming huts and hot cocoa at the end of the journey. For the more advanced skier, there are coveted skate tracks and races in which to participate. Many trail systems, such as those at Seeley Lake in the Seeley Swan Range provide races for those enthusiasts training for events or who are simply curious about the sport of Nordic skiing. Such events draw community members together in a fun and active environment to enjoy the splendor of snow, something locals look forward to all year round.

Nordic skiers from around the world come to West Yellowstone, MT, every year to get first tracks on the Rendezvous Ski Trails and to participate in fall training camps in order to prepare for a full season of classic and skate ski racing. A skier can take unwaxed skis into Freeheel and Wheel for an expert wax or learn how to do it hands-on by one of the friendly coaches during the Yellowstone Ski Festival, taking place annually during Thanksgiving week. Winter in West Yellowstone, MT, comes early. For example, one can expect a full blanket of snow around Halloween. The joke is that there are two seasons in West Yellowstone: winter and July. With nearly six months of snow per annum, the joke seems to be true. Fortunately for the cross-country skier, there are fifty kilometers of expertly-groomed Nordic trails moments away from the town’s center at The Rendezvous Ski Trails. Skiers come to what are heralded as some of the country’s best trails for the “first tracks” one can ski in preparation for winter races as a competitive skier. Annual races for youth ski teams, adults, adaptive athletes and children provide opportunity for the testing of one’s athletic performance, as the trails are not only challenging, but they are also at an altitude of 6,800 feet.

Beyond racing and performing, the Rendezvous Ski Trails also offer community events to draw awareness to the sport of Nordic skiing, something of which more trail systems are participating in to attract new enthusiasts to the sport. Events such as the Taste of the Trails, which offers five kilometers of skiing fun for families and friends, feeds participants along the way for a small fee. The sun shines upon the trails enhancing the sparkle of late winter snow, and smiling faces of children and older skiers alike makes the day both memorable and enjoyable. One of the most charming aspects of crosscountry skiing in Montana is the small and cozy welcome cabin or warming hut awaiting a skier at the end or beginning of a journey. One pleasant spot is centered at the Chief Joseph Trail System, which sits at the western Montana border forty miles south of Hamilton. Skiers can sign up to be stewards of the cabin and ensure the duties of stoking the fire and keeping hot cocoa ready are taken care of for the frosty noses of skiers. In some parts of the state, skiers can rent forest service cabins for the night and ski into them with their kids and supplies in tow. sledding in montana An Interview with Kyle Huestis, Clearwater Properties Agent and owner of Freshies Built

We recently had a chance to sit down with Kyle Huestis, one of our agents based out of the Seeley Lake office, to discuss his passion for snowmobiling as he prepares for a busy season in the backcountry. Kyle is a successful agent with Clearwater and always manages to make time to get out for a powder adventure. Here’s what Kyle had to say about how he prefers to spend the winter months. CP: We love that despite how busy you are, you are able to get out and do what you love most and that you even share this passion with your clients! How did you get into snowmobiling? KH: I got into snowmobiling at a very young age with my family. I rode with my parents until I was old enough to handle my own sled at the age of 4, and haven’t missed a season yet. It was easy for me to stay in the sport growing up as a farmer. There was ample down time in the winter to focus on snowmobiling, and I had a shop to work on them to boot. Snowmobiling is a special way to see the mountains in ways that most can’t imagine. It allows a person to cover mountain ranges faster than any other way. You can’t ski, hike, bike or drive the mountains like you can on a snowmobile. The soft white blanket of snow covers obstacles and allows riders to adventure the snowy landscape like never before in record speed. The complete freedom to go any direction your ability will allow, you can go on your machine. My fascination with mountain top views and seeing what’s on the other side is just as strong as it was when I was young. That’s why I do it! Today I share this passion by offering an all-inclusive snowmobile experience in beautiful Seeley Lake, Montana lodging, backcountry guiding, riding clinics and snowmobile rentals. Whether you have never been on a snowmobile, or if you are a seasoned veteran looking to push your riding abilities, we have you covered at Freshies Built.

CP: What is the best way to prepare for a backcountry adventure? KH: Start with your gear! Definitely a helmet - a good full-face helmet is best. This gives protection to the rider and warmth on colder days. Next, a good set of winter boots - something with thick soles, very waterproof and preferably with ankle support. Gloves are key, and not just one pair! I pack 4 sets with me. No glove stays dry when you’re riding. They either get wet from digging, sweating or from snow coming over the bars. I pack a warm trail set to ride in, as it’s cold in the morning; then cycle through two thin pairs during the day and a nice extra-warm pair when it’s time to go to the truck. Next is a good set of winter pants, and a jacket. I prefer a one-piece snow suit, which leaves fewer areas for snow to get in, and areas to let body heat out. I’d also recommend a backpack for food, survival equipment, including multiple ways to start a fire, first aid kit, flashlight, probe and shovel. Safety equipment that is a must for every rider, is an avalanche tranceiver, commonly called a beacon, a shovel and a probe. The beacon is used to locate other beacons in order to recover a person buried in the snow. Having a beacon is one thing, but knowing how to use and operate one, in an emergency, is another. Riders should know how to use their equipment, and practice before going out, even if it’s in the parking lot prior to the ride. A good way to practice is to have a designated person in the group (which should change for each ride for learning purposes) put their beacon into search mode and check each member of the group prior to going on trail. This ensures all beacons are working properly - in both search and transmission modes. Batteries are a huge factor to consider. I recommend changing them out if they are below 90% battery life, as they will drain fast once pulled out in the cold. Beacons should be worn secured to your chest using the manufacturer-provided harness. The shovel and probe should also be worn on your person, ususally inside your backpack.

CP: What is the best way to navigate through the terrain, especially if you are new to the area? KH: Trail maps are provided for almost any riding area. These will show the maintained and unmaintained trails in the area. However, for the popular freeriding technique, there are rarely any trails nearby. I use the onX maps app for most of my GPS, if I need it. It allows me to keep track of my pace throughout the day. It also helps me decide the best way to navigate new terrain by using the topographic layers for elevation changes. For someone starting out, stick to the trails until you feel comfortable going off trail. Always remember landmarks and things you ride by to help you to get out. And absolutely use GPS at least to track yourself so if all fails you can go back the way you came. Never go down something you don’t think you can get back up the same way. If you get separated from the group, stay in the last place you were with your group. They should know to go back to the last place they saw you as well. CP: I know it is relatively easy to get stuck. If that happens, what should you do? KH: If you get stuck, the most important thing is to use the least amount of energy to get unstuck. It’s not uncommon to get stuck 10 times or more in a day when backcountry riding. Maneuvering a 500-lbs+ machine in waist deep snow can seriously wear a person out, and thus cause more stuck situations. The key is to take your time, focus on staying dry, dig out snow around the front of the machine under the skis and belly to allow the nose to drop, lifting the stuck rear track out of the snow. Another great technique when applicable is to control-roll the sled to the downhill side and back on its track. CP: How about the sled - what is a better machine and why? KH: There are four major manufactures now: Arctic Cat, Polaris, Skidoo and Yamaha. Within those makers they have essentially two styles of sled: your mountain sled which will have longer (≥146”), deeper tracks, and will be built for off-trail type riding. And, trail sled, with shorter (≤146’’) lugs and more plush suspension for long trail rides. Each works great for their application and as far as what manufacturer you go with, I always say, “it doesn’t matter what you ride, just as long as you ride!” CP: What is the most dangerous situation you have ever been in? KH: The most dangerous situation I have been involved in snowmobiling, is an accident with a tree. I hit a tree going downhill, and was launched into another tree face first, breaking many bones in my face. I had to hike for 30 minutes before my group found me. The takeaway would

A group of sledders high on a ridge enjoying the views

be to always make sure someone in your group knows where you are, and vice versa. The buddy system is key in this sport. CP: What are some of the risks? KH: Some of the risks associated with snowmobiling would be frost bite and hypothermia. These can be avoided with proper gear including being prepared for spending a night out in the woods. Keeping dry and switching out wet gear like gloves or neck warmers can greatly decrease your chances of frost bite. Some other major risks include avalanches and injuries that can occur while riding a powersport vehicle. Avalanches can be avoided by reading the reports to know conditions, avoiding run outs and terrain traps. If you not interested in taking that risk, trail riding would be the best and, in most cases, safe and out of the way of avalanche danger. CP: How do you read the snow to ensure safety? KH: Before each day of riding, a rider should check the local avalanche center. Nearly all areas are covered, or closely covered by a daily snow report provided by these centers. These reports specify the conditions of where and how avalanches are likely to occur. Some days this may mean you are good to go for the whole area, while other days it means you may have to switch your planned route. They can also mean that some days it is best to stay home - because conditions are too dangerous. After reading the reports, you’ll have a better understanding of what is going on out in the mountains. However, conditions can still vary, even in the same area, and caution should be used exercised in all terrain that is within your path of travel. Cornices and chute runouts should be avoided if possible. Check with each member of the group to make sure they have the proper safety equipment and that they are educated on how to use each piece of equipment should there be an emergency. CP: What do you consider to be the most epic ride you’ve ever been on? KH: I can’t name a specific ride but ideally, you wake up in the morning, open the door to your lodge to find fresh snow on your truck, drive to the trailhead and find a foot of fresh snow in the parking lot. The sun starts to burn through the early morning clouds, and the sky clears. When you get up high, you discover the landscape has been completely covered in waist deep, light, fluffy goodness to start your adventure. These are the days most sledders dream of. CP: Sounds amazing! Where are some of your favorite places to go? KH: Some of my favorite places to ride would include areas surrounding West Yellowstone, Island Park, Idaho, Lolo Pass, and the Bridger Range - when we’re excluding Seeley

Lake, of course. These areas offer a variety of conditions with different terrain, elevations, and snow patterns. That’s what drew me to live in Seeley Lake - the amazing riding and pristine snowfall. The Mission and Swan Mountain Ranges, near Seeley Lake, are home to some of the world’s finest winter recreation. The combination of low elevation, warmer temps and high-water content create a unique snowpack much as you would find in areas like Revelstoke, British Columbia. These factors give the snow a firm yet forgiving consistency that allows both snowmobilers and skiers to play as they see fit on features with little risk to hitting items hidden below the surface.

Frozen waterfall - the natural beauty of the backcountry

The most popular trailhead for snowmobilers in this area is the Fawn Creek trailhead, located just 7 miles north of Seeley Lake, on the Northwest end of the lake. This trailhead gives access to areas like Elsina Lake and Marshall Lake, where true backcountry riding begins! Running all the way north to the Mission Mountain wilderness area, providing riders with a truly unique experience that all levels of riders can enjoy! The terrain gives way to vast rock shelves, steep chutes and open tree riding. With a 30-year average of over 100” base of snow, there is no shortage of pow. Definitely one of the best areas in the state. Kyle Huestis has been with Clearwater Properties for 3 years and has an excellent reputation within his community, volunteering in local organizations such as the Seeley Swan Search and Rescue. When he is not helping guide his clients to their real estate goals, he is guiding his clients through the wild and beautiful Montana backcountry during the winter. He owns and operates a premier, all-inclusive snowmobile company in Seeley Lake, MT. Freshies Built offers a snowmobile experience that is second to none with lodging, backcountry guide services, technical riding clinics, and snowmobile rentals. Let this Montana local show you around.

SATP ARTICLE

T

hirty-four yards. I had just ranged a huge ponderosa pine in front of me, a tree right in the bull elk’s chosen path. Stopping every few yards to bugle and look at the strange looking “cows” that had his interest, the bull was coming in as if on a string. One more cow call from down the hill and he stepped in front of the big pine and stopped. I settled the sight pin on his shoulder and squeezed the trigger on my bowstring release.

When I received a call from Karen Savage from Heaven’s Gate Outfitters in my home state of Idaho earlier that fall, letting me know about a rare last-minute opening on a September archery elk hunt, I was in. I spent some time shooting my bow to get both me and my equipment tuned up and was soon shooting tight groups out to 40 yards. I loaded my gear in the truck and headed over the mountains to western Idaho.

Highs and lows on a wilderness elk hunt in western Idaho.

Bulls at Heaven’s Gate Story and photos by James C. Reed

Arriving in Heaven’s Gate base camp, I was met by Andy Savage, owner of the outfit; three of the guides, and the three other hunters I would be sharing camp with. We sorted our gear and divided it into piles of even weight to be loaded on mules. I was happy to be assigned a mule named Rose, as I prefer mules over horses in the mountains. A pack string returning from the camp arrived as we were getting ready, carrying with it a beautiful 7x7 bull that a lucky hunter had taken. As soon as the mules were loaded and everyone was fitted to their stirrups, we headed for camp. It had been raining all night but fortunately it had cleared and was beautiful for our ride into camp. Very little in the hunting world is as romantic as a pack string in the Rocky Mountains. The ringing of horseshoes on rock and the hollow thudding sound of hooves crossing wooden bridges over clear mountain streams are the things a hunter’s dreams are made of. The scenery was breathtaking on the relaxing ride, and the weather held for the severalhour ride to camp. Upon reaching camp we were greeted by the camp cook, Erik. Camp consisted of wall tents on wooden platforms, each heated by wood-burning stoves. We settled in, mustered our gear, and prepared for the next day’s hunt. My camp mates were a California hunter, Chad, and a father and son duo, Matt and Tom. It was a good bunch and everyone hit it off instantly. I could hear rain on the tent during the night so I knew it would be a wet morning. We enjoyed a great breakfast, gathered our gear, and then mounted up and headed out into the darkness. Each team of one hunter and one guide headed in a

different direction. Heaven’s Gate’s stock are all good mountain animals and even in the steep, wet terrain they gave us no problems. My guide, Caleb, and I paralleled the river for a bit, then crossed and headed up a ridge across from camp. There were a couple of spots where the trail traversed a steep rock face well above the river where old Rose had to step up about two feet onto a flat boulder. As she stepped up, she had to lurch up onto the rock, which was inconveniently sloped down toward the steep fall to the river below. I was in pucker mode each time we stepped up onto the wet rock, but she never missed a step, much to my relief. The trees and brush were soaked from the rain and with every brush of wet branches and the rain hitting my face, I was thankful for my good rain gear. After reaching a high bench we unsaddled and tied the horses. We sat under a tree until it was light enough to see, then began working our way across the bench. Slowly making our way along a well-used elk trail, we would call for a bit, then move slowly to another spot and try again. We hadn’t gone far when we heard our first response in the form of a half-bugle, half-growl coming from ahead of us in a thick cove. Caleb told me there was a wallow up there, so we worked our way toward it. At the wallow there looked to be no fresh activity, so we slowly moved ahead. I looked down the hill and quickly reached out to grab Caleb. Below us, about 130 yards, I spotted a white butt and what I thought was an antler. We grabbed our binos, and sure enough, it was a not just a bull but a great bull. We huddled behind an upturned root ball and looked over the situation. The elk was a big 6x6 with long beams, long tines, and great whale-tail tops.

He was accompanied by a few cows feeding around him in nearly every direction. We tried a few cow calls but he acted as if he didn’t even hear us. He then bedded down, and with no possible path for approach, we settled in to see what his next move would be. The bull finally rose and worked his way into some deadfall. Once in the deadfall he began vigorously raking and terrorizing everything in his reach. Thus distracted, he didn’t notice his cows had fed up over the ridge. Caleb and I thought this might be a chance to make a move on him, but he soon noticed his absence of female companionship and headed up over the hill in search of his lost harem. Caleb and I followed him up over the hill but were busted by a lagging cow, and the herd thundered off down into the canyon. Caleb threw out a couple of cow calls and a bugle immediately came from the drainage below. Amazed at this response, we again called and were answered instantly by a screaming bugle. I nocked an arrow and Caleb dove behind a tree behind me. I could see antlers coming through the thick brush. The bull was coming in directly toward us but would definitely cross our wind. His antlers appeared and I could tell it was not the large 6x6 but instead a nice 5x6. He was now broadside to me and I came to full draw as he crossed our wind without hesitation. Caleb cow-called and briefly stopped the bull. I settled my 20-yard pin on his chest, but as tempting as it was, I just couldn’t make myself loose an arrow, knowing there were bigger bulls around. The bull never did spook, just hurried on his mission up over the ridge.

Matt with his fine bull elk.

After a quick lunch we had enough of a break from the rain to take a nice midday nap. When we awoke we began working our way back to the horses. The rest of the afternoon was fairly uneventful other than jumping one small bull on the trail. As we neared the horses I spotted another bull not far away. A quick look through the bino revealed he was a decent 6x6, but he spotted us as well and moved over the ridge and out of sight. We mounted up and headed back to camp for one of Erik’s fantastic meals. Chad and his guide Nick Gaddis came in with the good news that Chad had arrowed a 5x5 bull out of a bachelor herd. I heard rain on the tent again in the night but it stopped by morning. Caleb and I headed out to the same ridge and just as we neared the spot where we would tie the horses, a bugle rang out from the ridge above us. Caleb cow-called and the bull screamed in response, closer than before. I quickly dismounted and handed Caleb my reins. Grabbing my bow from the scabbard, I headed up the hill a hundred yards or so and Caleb got behind a large tree with the horses on either side. I could see the bull angling down the ridge, so I ranged a few landmarks as yardage markers. The bull kept stopping to look at the odd-looking “cows” that had sparked his interest. Each time Caleb would call, the bull would continue moving toward the horses, a path that would draw him right past my position. I had ranged a huge ponderosa pine at thirty-four yards and the bull was now about to pass right in front of this tree. There was another big fallen pine on the ground and the bull

stopped just before my shooting lane with just his head sticking out. He was a nice 6x6, not as big as the bull of the day before, but definitely a shooter. I drew my bow and held it at full draw, awaiting the bull’s next move. You could tell he was unsure about the strange-looking cows, but one more call from Caleb and he stepped right into my shooting lane in front of the big pine. I settled my 30-yard pin on his shoulder, made sure I was using my anchor points, and released the arrow. The arrow struck the bull with a resounding smack. He dropped his head and took off at a dead run. He was running with both front legs pinned, so it appeared to be a great hit. But something concerned me as the bull ran down and over the small ridge. Caleb tied the horses, then came up to my position. He was grinning from ear to ear and quietly exclaimed, “Great shot! You hit him good!” I cautioned him not to get too excited because as the bull was running over the hill I could see no blood on him. I went over to where he had been standing when I shot. No blood, no hair, no arrow. It was easy to see his tracks in the muddy soil so I began following them. We went probably seventy yards and still not a drop of blood. I really began to doubt my shot when we came to where he had jumped a fallen tree and there was some blood. Not much, but blood. We continued on his trail, now finding regular spots of blood, but still not much. We surmised the arrow was still in the wound, possibly plugging the wound and

slowing the blood loss. Then, ahead of me, Caleb reached down and picked up the back half of the arrow. It was covered in bubbly lung blood, and had come out the far side of the bull. With renewed excitement we now hoped for more blood, but it wasn’t to be—it was still just spots here and there. The blood trail led us over the small ridge to a north-facing slope directly across from camp. We hadn’t gone more than a couple of hundred yards, but it was slow going. Here we could see where the bull abruptly dove off the trail, straight down, hitting a trail below. Here he stopped and blew quite a bit of blood out both sides. We now knew for sure it was a lung hit, but with the small amount of blood, we figured the shot must have been high in the lungs. The bull was going through really thick brush and blood was rubbing off on the leaves of bushes on both sides. Then, nothing. No more blood, no more tracks. We searched for hours until dark forced us to stop, then gloomily rode back to camp. We went to bed but sleep was nearly impossible as I kept replaying the shot over and over in my head. Then I heard the rain on the tent. My heart sank as the light rain turned into a downpour that lasted for hours. I knew any blood sign that might have existed would now be gone. Up before daylight, we grabbed breakfast and headed up to continue our search. Chad and Nick had got Chad’s bull packed back to camp so they graciously volunteered to come help us

Ready to leave the wilderness camp—the ride home was bittersweet.

search. It was a cold, wet ride up in the rain. We went over to where we last found blood, and Nick amazingly found some on the bottom of a leaf, but that was the extent of the sign we found. We began searching in grids. The hillside was steep and brushy like an alder hillside in Alaska. You would literally have to step on the bull to find him. It was slick, wet, and frustrating as we worked across the mountainside. The brush was so high we could barely catch a glimpse of each other’s hats occasionally. We reached the next ridge and searched it too, but there was no sign of the bull. Soaking wet from the rain and wet brush, we were all pretty miserable. We searched until dark again, then made our way back to camp. The next day Matt and Andrew decided to hunt the same area, so Caleb and I decided to sit and glass the hillside where we had lost the bull. We thought maybe the birds would be on the carcass and give up the bull’s location. And there was always the chance that just maybe the other two hunters would stumble across him. Caleb and I spent most of the day behind binoculars and spotting scopes, but to no avail. Matt did arrow a nice 6x6 bull, though, so I was happy for his success. The next day we loaded up with our guides and headed out to base camp. Of course, the weather on the ride out was clear and beautiful, which was both welcome and frustrating at the same time. The ride out was marked by my mixed emotions—I was grateful for experiencing a great hunt, but felt heart-wrenching sadness at losing the bull. In many years of hunting, I had never lost an animal before, and while it is said if you hunt long enough it will happen, it doesn’t make it any easier. I have replayed the shot over a million times in my head and to this day I cannot say I would do anything different. I don’t know what happened, but in the end the week had been full of great hunting, awesome comradery, and great cooking in my favorite setting in the world, a wall tent camp in the Rocky Mountains. We had experienced the bulls at Heaven’s Gate.

The land of wide-open spaces and rough-and-tumble lifestyle is calling you. Like Clearwater Properties’ other featured locations, Wyoming is yet another example of an outdoor recreation lover’s utopia. Besides the obvious tourist attraction that is Yellowstone National Park, visitors from around the world come to experience Wyoming’s rich history. Famous outlaws like Butch Cassidy hid out in its small towns between train robberies, and much of the untouched landscape remains reminiscent of the Wild West. Unrivaled hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing are around every corner. Today, Wyoming has the smallest population of all the states, with just over 550,000 residents, making them socialdistancing champions.
