ers retur ...let the fun n... commence We are just a little bit over-excited because our pantomime favourites had such a fabulous time at the Queen’s Theatre last year that they are returning. Ian Hallard and Matthew Baldwin starred as the gruesome twosome, Flatula and Verucca, Cinderella’s ugly sisters and were hugely popular with critics, the audiences and the staff. This year Ian will be casting off his villainous persona to play pantoland’s most famous laundress, Widow Twankey while Matthew will once again be displaying his sinister side as the devious and power hungry magician Abanazar. Matthew says “We are delighted to have been asked back to the Queen’s Theatre as we both had a fabulous time here last Christmas and I am really looking forward to being very very wicked again this year.”

Please help us to Buy our Buildings You might be thinking "why is this important to me?" Here's why ...

1

2

In 2018, we were due to tender for the provision of the services we offer. There's no guarantee that we would have been successful.

3

If the tender had been won by a commercial theatre company, it is very unlikely that they would have offered the extensive education and outreach programme that we do. Our education programme offers over 20,000 places every year, positively impacting the lives of local communities by offering transferable skills, qualifications and memorable creative experiences.

4

We think it's important that access to our theatres is open to all and non-elitist . We work hard to keep our prices reasonable and affordable - our average ticket price last year was ÂŁ14.60, compared to the national average of ÂŁ23.77. How often would you be able to come to the theatre with that sort of pricing?

5

By owning our buildings as a charity we can more effectively seek new funding from a range of trusts, foundations and other sources. This will allow us to invest in the buildings which are tired and need overhauling.

6

As one of the Arts Council England's (ACE), National Portfolio Organisations (NPO) we receive an annual grant to support the work that we do. We are the only ACE NPO theatre venues on the north coast running from Bristol to Lands End.

Don't you agree that North Devon deserves access to the arts in the same way that other areas of the country love and that our local communities, the young, the old and everyone in between, has the chance to get involved?

Without the Theatres, North Devon would be a much poorer place to live and work. Please consider what you can do to help.

Thank you 6

North Devon Theatres’ Trust are delighted to welcome St Anne’s Arts & Community Centre to our portfolio of venues. St Anne's is set in a green, pedestrianised oasis in the very heart of Barnstaple; a Gothic building in miniature, charming and unassuming, in the middle of the Parish Church cemetery. In May 2016, North Devon Theatres' Trust formed a partnership with Barnstaple Town Council to bring a much larger and more diverse audience to the Centre. The deal with the Trust will see arts, cultural, educational and community events delivered a number of days each week, as an annexe to the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple.

Following the success of The X Factor and the release of his debut album Doing It My Way, the next step was the West End and, combining all his talents, he appeared in some of the biggest hit shows including: Grease, Dirty Dancing and Legally Blonde. Last year Ray returned to the studio to create an album of original songs for his eagerly awaited second album. This is your chance to hear his new music when he brings us his No Man’s Land tour.

Following sell out performances of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Elves and the Shoemaker, Stuff and Nonsense return with their latest production. Inspired by the Muppets, Danny Kaye and good old family movies, this romp through a classic, eccentric tale tells the story of an Emperor who loves clothes more than anything. But there is a problem…Despite a wardrobe the size of Paris he's run out of outfits and it's his birthday tomorrow! He hasn't got a stitch to wear! When two 'designers' come to town with a promise to create him an outfit that's ‘never been seen before’, our eccentric Emperor doesn't quite realise the spectacle he is about to make. Populated with puppets, music and song, this inventive and energetic production is told in true Stuff and Nonsense style; with unending energy, great storytelling and, as always, a show for all the family. Created using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England with additional support from The Point Eastleigh, Waterside Arts Centre Sale, Theatre Royal Plymouth and The Lyric Theatre Bridport.

Rounding Up

North Devon Theatres add a single processing fee of £1.00 per ticket for all bookings. We have a processing fee because ticket selling costs are variable, depending on the number of tickets sold; staffing costs vary depending upon how busy the Box Office is, the providers of our Box Office booking system make a charge to us for each ticket sold, each physical ticket and its printing carries a cost to our charity and we also pay direct debit and credit card commission charges. The processing fee is applied for all bookings whether on-line, by telephone or at the counter.

You may be asked if you would like to ‘round up’ when paying. This money will go directly to North Devon Theatres’ Trust, helping us to further our charitable aims to provide arts and culture events, education projects, activities and facilities for all members of the community and visitors to North Devon to enjoy.

Group bookings of 10 or more (including school groups) do not have to pay the processing fee.

One of the benefits of our membership scheme is that the processing fee is waived for member's discounted tickets - find out how you can join our membership scheme on page 5 For more information please speak to a member of the Box Office or Front of House teams.
