History of the School Established in 1998, The Bloombreed Montessori School has grown from a burgeoning Nursery and Primary School into a vibrant co-educational, boarding secondary school. Our successful evolution has placed us in a distinct position to offer your children a smooth and stable transition in education as well as assuage every parent’s search for quality education. Since its inception in 2006, the Bloombreed High School, located on Boskel Road, off Aba Express way Port Harcourt, has been committed to the provision of quality education that excels by both national and international standards. Our focus is on the overall development of the child, which we achieve by providing superior infrastructure and a caring environment that are based on sound Christian foundations. We are constantly challenging ourselves and evolving to ensure that we apply the most innovative and modern methods of teaching to allow your child to reach his/her full potential. Our priorities lie in not just the academic excellence of our scholars. Academic Team Bloombreed High School takes pride in our carefully selected team of highly qualified teaching staff who channel their expertise towards the development of the child. Each member of our staff has studied in leading national and international academic institutions and is well equipped to handle the academic and developmental needs of our students. We go the extra mile to select individuals who are not only committed to education but are dedicated to the holistic development of our students. Our founder, Mrs. Funke Sunmonu, is a well accomplished educator who has been extensively trained in the renowned Montessori teaching technique. This renowned method of education utilizes natural interests and activities in the transformation of students from passive to active learners. Her wealth of experience has equipped her with the tools necessary to provide the supervision and support that continues to push us to reach new levels of success.

Curriculum The school employs a communicative and interactive mode of learning. The education is child-centred, value-based, activity oriented, and of a superior quality to help prepare students to achieve academic excellence and successfully meet the professional and personal challenges they will encounter.

Academic Programme In accordance with the Nigerian National Policy on Education, the school runs a six-year programme. This is divided into two sections:• The Junior Secondary School (JSS) – This spans the first three years of secondary education. • The Senior Secondary School (SSS) – The next three years of secondary education.

Junior Secondary School (Jss 1 – 3) The first three years are spent in the Junior Secondary School where they are prepared for the Junior Secondary Certificate Examinations (JSCE) of both the Federal Government (NECO) and the State Government.

Languages At Bloombreed High School, we recognize the value of language as an important medium for the exchange of fruitful concepts and ideas. Thus, we aim at fostering an appreciation of the importance of language as a tool for understanding and interacting with the dynamic world we live in. To this end, we expose our students to a rich and varied wealth of modern languages. The Department of Languages comprises English, French, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and other indigenous languages. We also offer English Literature and Creative Writing as part of our language course. All of our students take at least one language course and benefit from the modern and effective methods of teaching which we employ.

Science And Mathematics As our world becomes more technologically advanced, the role of Science and Mathematics must be emphasized. The curriculum at Bloombreed High School provides our students with an interactive approach to learning within a stimulating and structured environment. Our students are given the tools to consolidate, build and develop critical technical skills which can be applied to a range of contexts within and beyond the classroom. We emphasize application and thus, provide the opportunity for the students to develop their skills in practical settings. We can confidently assure you that we provide our students with a worthwhile educational experience that will transform them into confident citizens of today and tomorrowâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s world. Science and Mathematics are compulsory subjects at all levels of the school, incorporating both Nigerian and British National Curricula.

Arts The Arts department aims at providing a lively and varied Arts Education which helps in the growth of the creative potential of every student. The use of critical and analytical methods allows our students to truly appreciate the arts. Students are offered a rich variety of media and techniques which encourage the development of their aesthetic sensibilities, abilities to identify, research and evaluate creative problems and to reach imaginative and original conclusions.

Vocational And Technical Studies This department is home to Technical Drawing, Home Economics, Music and Drama. With the mission of preparing our students for life, we emphasize the practical acquisition of skills. Our broad field of study develops our studentsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; innate talents and skills which can then be used towards improving their communities.

Human And Social Studies The Human and Social Studies department encompasses five subjectsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; Economics, Geography, History, Government and Business Studies. The department aims to develop compassionate and fair-minded people who will make a positive contribution to their communities as well as the society at large. The curriculum of this department is creatively designed to transform students into educated individuals with a national and emphatic sense of responsibility.

ICT As the world evolves into a global village, Bloombreed has firmly positioned herself as the body capable of offering students the skills needed to become active players in this world. Our professionally designed program contains the latest development in Information Technology and is constantly evolving to keep up with the fast paced trends. Extra Curricular The Bloombreed High School offers our students the opportunity to become involved in any of our 20 student groups. Our extra curricular activities are a crucial component in our vision of developing the all-round personalities of students. Excursions/School Educational Trips In our quest to build individuals who are capable of meeting the challenges the world has to offer, we emphasize the connection between theory and practicality in our curriculum. To this end, we expose our students to a variety of cultures and societies within Africa. Our students have visited a range of places including Lome, Togo, Accra, Ghana, Dental Clinics, Carpentry and Mechanic workshops, Media Houses, Farms and Charities.
