“ AT ST ANNE’S I HAVE RECEIVED LIFE-CHANGING OPPORTUNITIES AND BEEN MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN I WOULD HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE ELSE”. HEAD GIRL

AIMING HIGH Welcome to the sixth form at St. Anne’s, which provides the opportunity for academic success in a warm and friendly environment where Christian values matter. With a wide range of courses, high teaching standards and exceptional pastoral care, we attract girls not only from the local area but also from overseas. They study alongside a small number of boys who follow courses through the collegiate system. We expect our sixth formers to adopt a mature and independent approach to their studies, aiming for the highest levels of achievement. With the help of our dedicated staff, they develop the skills that will prove invaluable at university and in the workplace: confidence, ambition and perseverance. As a result, many gain places at the university of their choice – including Oxford and Cambridge – or progress into their desired employment.

ACHIEVING SUCCESS Through a broad choice of courses at AS, A2 and BTEC levels, our post-16 curriculum is designed to excite and challenge students. As well as the traditional academic subjects, we offer vocational courses that allow them to develop their interests. We use our Business and Enterprise specialism to add further richness and creativity to the curriculum, developing transferable skills that will benefit students in higher education and the world of work. There are many opportunities for extra-curricular activities – including drama, music, sport and Christian fellowship – and many sixth formers enjoy the annual ski trip. We encourage our young people to take positions of responsibility within the school and most take part in community work including YAVE (Youth Action Volunteering Enfield); the Community Sports Leadership Award; Age UK’s Trans-IT scheme, which develops the IT skills of senior citizens; academic mentoring of year 11 pupils; and charity fundraising.

“ TEACHERS KNOW THEIR STUDENTS WELL, AND THEY TAKE CARE TO CHECK THEIR UNDERSTANDING AND PROGRESS DURING LESSONS”. OFSTED

MOVING ON All students follow the Preparation for Further Education and Life Skills course, which provides advice on time management for successful study, higher and further education courses, the university application process, interview techniques and employment opportunities. Guest speakers from universities, colleges and private enterprises inspire them to achieve and the school actively encourages participation in open days and taster courses. All year 12 students participate in a mock job application and interview process with a business professional, receiving feedback on their performance. Our sixth form staff also give students practical and personalised advice to help them shape their future.

“ STUDENTS ARE VERY WELL PREPARED FOR THEIR FUTURE ECONOMIC WELL-BEING AND RECEIVE THOROUGH, IMPARTIAL AND UP-TO-DATE ADVICE ABOUT FUTURE OPTIONS”. OFSTED
