Dear friend, As I’m sure you know by now, we’ve opened the doors to our beautiful and spacious new CHABAD JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER on the corner of Main and 4th Street in the heart of Aspen! A project 8 years in the making, this exquisite facility has been described by many as “The most impressive educational and outreach center of its kind in the Western United States!” If you haven’t already done so, I invite you to stop by and take a tour of the magnificent premises. Moreover, I encourage you to become acquainted with the exciting new menu of programs, services, events and activities that will be offered to the community at large during the JCC Aspen’s upcoming inaugural winter season. Whether it’s adult education, youth programs, Shabbat festivities, holiday celebrations, cultural activities, social events, recreational pastimes or spiritual enrichment programs (or any combination of these) that might be of interest to you and/or your family members, I am confident that you will find our new home to be a very warm, welcoming, cheerful and spirited – not to mention aesthetically appealing – environment in which to explore and celebrate your heritage while feeling part of a dynamic and thriving community. Please review the enclosed comprehensive “Winter Guide” for more information. Among the many attractive features of Chabad is that one is not required to be a “member” to participate in any of our programs at any level. Indeed, we welcome folks of all ages and from all walks of life – regardless of background or affiliation – with open arms and an open heart, as we seek to make our center your friendly “home away from home.” The opening of the new 19000 square-foot Chabad Jewish Community Center this past summer was a truly momentous event in the annals of the greater Aspen and Roaring Fork Valley Jewish Communities. My invitation to you and yours to come study with us, celebrate with us, worship with us or grow with us is thus not merely an invitation to bring new meaning into your lives, but indeed to be a part of history! Looking forward to greeting you at the JCC in the near future, we remain, Sincerely, Rabbi Mendel & Lieba Mintz Directors

Doron served in the IDF for over 35 years without fear or hesitation until he faced the most difficult challenge of his life... the birth of his autistic son Eran. Gen. Doron Almog will cover his heroic career which spans from the Yom Kippur war (where his brother fell in the battle in the Golan), through being one of the commanders of the Entebe Operation, dozens of unknown military operations on enemy land and all the way to the establishment of the rehabilitation village for people with special needs. It is a story about love for Israel, unconditional love of a father to his son and Tikun Olam.

Programs and Events
Doron Almog was born in Israel in 1951. During a distinguished 35-year career in the IDF, he fought in four wars and participated in a number of special operations, including the Tripoli Command raid in pursuit of the terrorists behind the massacre of Israeli Olympians in Munich in 1972, the rescue operation at Entebbe airport in 1976, and the airlift of Ethiopian Jews in 1983-85. General Almog rose rapidly through the ranks of the IDF, first as a paratroop platoon and brigade commander, until his promotion to Major General and Corps Commander in 1998. From 2000 through 2003, he served as Commander-in-Chief of the IDF’s Southern Command. During that time, the Southern Command faced more than 12,000 terrorist incidents without allowing a single suicide bomber to breech its defenses. After the birth of his son Eran, General Almog devoted much of his time and focus to assisting children, teens and adults with special needs. He is the founder and Chairman of Aleh Negev, a 25-acre Rehabilitative Village in the Negev for developmentally disabled children and young adults.

For eight years now, the Chabad Jewish Community Center, in conjunction with UJA Aspen Valley, has been hosting groups of disabled Israeli combat veterans for a full week of therapeutic and recreational activities in our beautiful city. This year’s group of proud veterans will be visiting Aspen for the week of February 24th to March 3rd, 2015. There are simply no words to capture the impact this mutual outpouring of love and gratitude has had – both on our honored guests and on our community. In addition to six glorious days on the slopes with Challenge Aspen’s customized gear and guidance for the disabled, these heroes get to enjoy comfortable lodging, delicious kosher meals as well as a full program of entertainment and inspiration in our cozy facilities. While there are many devoted volunteers who put long hours into coordinating the logistics of this noble project, their efforts would be nowhere without the generosity of caring and compassionate people in our community pitching in to cover the costs... People like you. Please visit jccaspen.com/ski where you can find various levels of support you can sign on for – from sponsoring a soldier for one-half day to the entire week. Please join us for a unique Shabbat dinner with our war heroes on Friday night, February 27th. I assure you, it will be a moving experience you will not soon forget. Considering the tremendous sacrifices these brave veterans made in defense of Israel, surely we can see that bringing them this joy and relief is not just a virtue, but a privilege!

It has been called the secret of the Jewish survival - a mystical connection to the Garden of Eden. There, a woman enveloped by its living waters and immersed in its sanctity, is transformed to a state of spiritual purity, reaffirming the cycle of life. For thousands of years Jewish marriages have been strengthened through the holiness of the special Mitzvah of Mikvah. By immersing in a Mikvah – a ritual bath constructed according to the intricate laws detailed in the Torah, a woman taps into the spiritual powers of this ongoing tradition, connecting with Jewish women around the world and throughout history. The Mikvah experience is a woman’s mystical journey to a place where she alone embraces her spirituality and relationship with G-d. The Mikvah’s waters are an embryonic liquid that cleanses refreshes and hydrates the essence of her feminine spirituality that ultimately brings about much peace and blessing to her whole family. Our brand-new state-of-the-art Mikvah / Spa facility is available to all, regardless of level of observance. For more information about our community Mikvah or if you would like to take a private tour of the Mikvah facility please call 970-544-3770 or Email: Mikvah@jccaspen.com Web: jccaspen.com/mikvah
