I
ncreasingly, state and local policymakers are taking immigration matters into their own hands. The resulting laws and policies have far-reaching effects – both positive and negative – on migrants and their families, businesses, and communities. Since 2007, CLINIC’s State and Local Immigration Project has supported advocacy across the country to promote the dignity and protect the rights of immigrant communities. Expert attorneys provide legal analysis, training, technical assistance, and support to advocates working to oppose anti-immigrant measures introduced at the state and local levels and promote pro-immigrant initiatives. “I used the resources CLINIC provided to prepare my testimony. The analysis was excellent, detailed and included references for further research. I also appreciated the timeliness of CLINIC’s response; during our fast-paced legislative session, getting prompt responses to my questions was invaluable.” Executive Director, Catholic Conference of Kentucky
Strategies and messages for challenging anti-immigrant legislation and promoting pro-immigrant integration measures.
“Looking back, the impact of your work has moved mountains… Your guidance and education was invaluable. At the [state legislative] committee hearings, CLINIC’s talking points were the only talking points distributed to members. Your voice educated and empowered all of us.” Director, Office of Parish Based Ministries, Catholic Charities, Inc., Diocese of Jackson, Mississippi
