At Bunzlau Castle, we always have our sights set on the future. As a second-generation family business, we believe it is important to make long-term choices. We know our history and we know precisely where we came from. With that as a foundation, we dare to look forward to the future and build upon it.
For us, this realisation means striving to be a good entrepreneur, people-oriented employer, and loyal business partner. We want to continue to offer the quality, beauty, and unity of Bunzlau Castle's early beginnings while taking responsibility for tomorrow's world. We therefore believe it is vital to know how our products are made and to know the makers. It was precisely for this reason that the decision was made back in the 1970s, against all the trends of the era, to keep all productions close to home within Europe. This is something that we are proud to continue today. We visit the workshops and factories regularly. It is wonderful to see how the craftsmanship is also passed down from generation to generation there and continues to exist.
As of last spring, we have a new textile label: Organic Home. This label aligns perfectly with our vision. You can read all about this wonderful textile line on page 46. The products are made of 100% organic cotton and produced in Europe. To carry the GOTS sustainability label, we went through an intensive certification process entirely focused on sustainable, fair, and people-oriented entrepreneurship. That we came through this so well, we think, is a crowning achievement.
In this magazine, we want to inspire you with unique stories and ambitions of a few Bunzlau Castle enthusiasts. Entrepreneurs
who are also working toward creating something beautiful and lasting. For the world and for the people around them. For now, but also for later. We are also proud to share our latest collections with you. We are confident that they will perfectly complement the Bunzlau Castle products in your existing collection. We hope that you have as much fun reading this magazine as we did making it!
Happy reading!

Bunzlau Castle
In the east of Rivierenland, near Nijmegen and on the edge of the picturesque village of Ressen, lies De Woerdt. A heavenly place, with a high-quality Country Store, inviting catering facility, and a unique camper field nestled amongst the many fruit trees. At the helm are Wessel van Olst and Esther Groenenberg. Together, they form the second generation dedicated to seeing this place flourish and sharing it.
It's the sharing aspect that truly drives them and is reflected in many of the things they do. Several new neighbourhoods are located in the surrounding area. Elementary school classes from Nijmegen and Bemmel regularly come to see how things work in the fruit company. Wessel and his father Nico enjoy giving the children tours. Full of passion, they tell all about the bees, for example, and how important they are for the pollination of the fruit trees.
Esther: "That education role is something we consciously take upon ourselves. We enjoy contributing to society. Nowadays, the link with farmers is fading. We don't want to keep this beautiful place all to ourselves, but rather enjoy letting others experience first-hand what it's like here. What it takes to grow fruit and how everything in nature works together. That's why we have a parking space for campers opposite our orchard, why we employ retired people who love farming, why we have a Country Store, why we recently opened a catering facility and why we offer a (work) location for
meaningful daytime activities. The place is always a buzzing focal point. When someone is eager to work here, we never look at what they can't do. We look for opportunities to tap into that person's unique potential."
Their commitment to the community is also evident in the positions Wessel and Esther hold in addition to the farming business. For example, Esther is a daily director at Waterschap Rivierenland. Wessel is president of the Landwinkel Coöperatie. They met each other at work, coincidentally after both studying at Van Hall Larenstein. The enterprising couple works jointly with parents (in-law) Nico and Greet van Olst, but in recent years have been stepping into the foreground. Since 2016, they and their three daughters have occupied the monumental farmhouse at the front of the orchards and the Country Store. Nico and Greet are gradually stepping back from the business and passing the torch onto the next generation.
Nico and Greet do still live on the grounds of De Woerdt. Esther: "That's valuable. Greet can easily jump in to help out in the store, or with the children if needed, and Nico is still indispensable in the day-to-day business operations. We are truly a family business. The children grow up very naturally among the family and activity of our business."
Yet things are changing. Esther: "The Country Store came about quite naturally under the leadership of my in-laws. Actually from a need from the surrounding area. The store carried products that were in demand. We see this differently. The products we offer align with our story and our vision of sustainability, quality, and local business.
So now you will find bread from the regional bakery in Nijmegen, made from the pastures behind the orchard, (organic) meat from farms in the area, our own fruit and jams, and of course,
Bunzlau Castle dinnerware. We know where our products come from, how they are made and we stand behind the quality."
The beautiful hospitality facility is brand new. Esther explains: "This business is another perfect fit for us. The building was designed based on our ideas. It connects outside to inside, is open, and welcoming. Here you can have coffee and lunch while enjoying the orchard in every season. Literally, a place for anyone who wants to enjoy our land with us." The menu features delicious, homemade, and local seasonal dishes. The building features ample greenery and sustainable materials.
The fruit cultivation business does not actually carry an organic label (Skal). Esther: "We are Global Gap and Planet Proof certified. We also farm with our farmer's common sense. We want to

take good care of our land and nature and are always weighing up what is needed to do so. For example, we intentionally have chickens because they eat our leftovers. We sell the eggs in the store. The people at the daytime activities centre take care of them. We put thought into everything that we do.
Space for ideas
Plenty of activity at De Woerdt. Except on Sundays. Then Esther and Wessel enjoy their three girls, their lovely home, and the good life. Esther: "There's always plenty to do. But on Sunday, we come to rest. I make a big pot of soup, we play games or lounge about in our pyjamas. Relaxation to make room for new ideas."

Wessel van Olst, co-owner of De Woerdt (page 6), is also president of the Landwinkel Coöperatie. A collaboration of more than ninety Country Stores in the Netherlands.
The demand for local, fresh produce is growing. And that's not surprising: nearly forty percent of our global footprint is determined by what we eat every day. Production, storage, and transportation in the long chains impose a heavy burden on the use of natural resources and cause many food miles and greenhouse gas emissions. At a Country Store, the distance between the consumer and the producer is as small as possible. The origin of many products is known and the stores exchange products.
Wessel: "These days, there are so many Country Stores, almost everyone has one in their neighbourhood. In the Country Store, you can buy local produce and delicacies. Some of which even comes from the estate itself. Like at Landwinkel De Woerdt."
Shopping at a Country Store is an experience. The range of products is wide. You can also go there for nice gifts. Every Country Store is unique because the owner creates their own style. In some ways, the consumer is actually visiting the farmer's home. Some farmers offer (cooking) workshops and others have a tea shop or restaurant or build an annual corn maze.
A fun outing for young and old!
Do you love to go for long walks? Are you tiring of the beaten path? In the provinces of Utrecht and Gelderland, you can go for a walk along a 'Klompenpad' or Clog Route.
A Klompenpad runs straight through the countryside on historic paths such as old church paths, hunting routes, waterway paths, and Hessian roads. Sometimes you walk across a farmer's pasture or pass right by a farm's orchard. Nature is always close at hand on a Klompenpad.
While it's not always smooth sailing - a portion of the route is often unpaved - on a Klompenpad you can completely relax. In addition, you will learn about the culture and history of the region along the way.
De Woerdt (p.6) is the starting point of the Zeegse Klompenpad. This route takes you right through the pastures and past fruit trees through the idyllic town of Ressen. Along the way, you will visit Park Lingezegen and the nature reserve of the Bemmelse Zeeg. Highly recommended! Would you rather stay on the road? Cycling from De Woerdt is also possible: starting in this area's rich nature, you can follow a beautiful cycling path to the historic centre of Nijmegen.

Kayte is married to actor Kelsey Grammer. Together they have three children ages 9, 7 and 4. Their lives take place in Los Angeles. They also have a vacation home in Palm Springs, California.
Bunzlau Castle products are also loved beyond our borders. A true enthusiast is Kayte Grammer from the United States. Kayte did the interior styling of her home in Los Angeles and her vacation home in Palm Springs herself. Her favourite Bunzlau Castle products make her feel at home in both properties. "I have eight teapots, being English, I drink tea all day and in every place."
"I consciously choose to spend a lot of time with the children. They grow up so fast. I am grateful for the opportunity to be there for them. I want to give them creativity and a stable and peaceful home. Every day, we have breakfast together. Then the children head upstairs, where they are home-schooled. This is when I go to the gym or take the dogs for a walk. I am also very involved in interior styling and architecture. I do a lot of research, and look for inspiration daily. It's my creative outlet."
"It all started with a single teapot. I was in a store in New York where they sold Bunzlau Castle and I immediately fell in love. I wasn't familiar with the brand and immediately started searching for more collections. I now have eight teapots, scattered throughout our two houses. I'm English, so I drink tea all day long from the Bunzlau Castle Farmers' mug. I love to cook and love that the dinnerware is so strong but also beautiful. It's a treat to take a dish out of the oven and put the beautiful, warm Bunzlau Castle dish on the table. It's perfect for everyday and festive use alike. Just the thought of a warm garlic roll served on one of my Bunzlau Castle Baquette Dishes is enough to work up my appetite. The brand has become part of my identity. I will buy my sister, our housekeeper and everyone dear to me a beautiful Bunzlau Castle gift at Christmas."
"As I was born in England, I still miss my homeland. Especially my family, of course. But also the food, the English restaurants, London, and my favourite beach. California is also fantastic though. We have everything here: the ocean, the mountains, and the desert. And the atmosphere is relaxed. You can feel free to walk down the street here in flip-flops and no makeup."
"Our daily life takes place in Los Angeles. My husband already owned this house and I loved it immediately. It has a French style, with a beautiful, spacious living room. Perfectly suited for parties. We do it justice and celebrate to the fullest here. I did the interior styling for both houses myself. I used to be somewhat reserved about combining colours and patterns. Back then, I used a lot of greys and whites. But the house in Palm Springs in particular was made for colour. So I'm much more exuberant with colour use now. I mix and match and dare to go wild. I love colourful wallpaper and the beautiful deep pink that you often see in Mexico. And I love flowers! If it is beautiful to the eye, then it is good and yet calm."
Favourite moments
"I am very blessed. The children bring a lot of life to the party. And I enjoy that. But it's great that I can retreat here at home as well. In the morning, for example, with a delicious chocolate croissant and a good cup of coffee. And at cocktail hour. Before cooking, I enjoy a - quintessentially English - gin tonic. The perfect poolside drink."

Kayte's love of Bunzlau Castle began with the sight of the teapot. She now has eight, in different sizes and designs.

Lyanne and Albert run Alberto's Italian in Nijkerk and in Barneveld. They are also the proud owners of BAS, a grill restaurant in Barneveld. Together with their five children, they form a blended family. They are rooted in the Veluwe.
Alberto's Italian is housed in a former bank building across from the Barneveld train station. This is the second location of Albert Hotzky and Lyanne van den Berg's restaurant concept. Lyanne: "With Alberto's Italian, we are making the beginning of our dream come true. We have the ambition to grow further here in the region."
The only memento of the bank that used to be located here is the huge vault in the private dining area. You step through the thick bronze vault door into the intimate, private space, which has its own look and feel, but with the use of warm, gold tones and the dark, rough-hewn table, it complements the rest of the interior. Lyanne: "We designed this restaurant ourselves. Before, it was a drab 1980s office. But Albert could see through that. He had a design in his head and started looking, shifting and drawing how he could bring his vision to life here. It's a complicated building, so it was a lot of puzzling and measuring. Together with the construction company, we arrived at this surprising, charming whole."
The showpiece is the elongated and corresponding bronze-coloured wine bar at the entrance to the restaurant. At the bar, guests first sip a glass of fine wine or take an aperitif before sitting down for dinner at the table. The kitchen is visible behind glass. Lyanne: "That way, you see the activity, but you don't hear it." Alongside the restaurant is the surprisingly spacious yet intimate terrace with a lounge vibe on summer days.
Lyanne explains: "Inspiration for our restaurants is drawn from abroad. Athens in particular surprised us with the most wonderful dining options. Dining with us is an experience. Guests are immersed in a relaxed setting from start to finish. With fine wines to complement delicious food, knowledgeable service, and a warm, rich interior."
"Our motto is that we are 'Not just another Italian.' We give classic Italian dishes their own unique twist. Take our vitello tonato, which has a crispy base and is topped with a cream of ricotta. But of course, we also serve pizzas and pastas. On Bunzlau Castle dinnerware of course. Against the blue-tinted floral backdrops, the dishes truly pop. When I first saw Bunzlau Castle, I fell in love with it immediately! The design aligns with the atmosphere and quality we want to offer. Guests frequently ask where our dinnerware comes from.
We cook with the seasons, 90% of our ingredients are fresh and organic, and we source many ingredients from the region. When putting together the menu, we ask all colleagues to contribute their thoughts. In this way, what is experienced and tasted in the restaurant also ends up in the kitchen." Recognition for their quality comes from every direction. Such as the awarding of a Bib Gourmand.
Lyanne and Alberto find the involvement of colleagues in the restaurant very important. "We are employing a growing number of people and want to be a good employer for them. We ourselves are hardly 'on the floor' any more With a small MT, we deal with the management of our business. As a result, we offer employees security, independence and growth in their work. I love to organise and arrange. And I think a lot about our story, our DNA. I want this to be clear and implemented everywhere. Albert is the visionary. He is sometimes a few years ahead of us with his ideas."
That dream to grow is also the strongest in him. Albert was diagnosed with a brain tumour several years ago. He had to give up his first Restaurant in Zwolle because of this. There was a time when he thought he could never work again. But gradually during his period of illness, it began to bubble up: a drive to leave something beautiful behind. Miraculously, the energy came back and he was able to shape his emerging plans. He explains: "Others go to work, I don't. I live for all this."
Albert and Lyanne are unbridled in their ambitions: "Here in the Veluwe, we want to open more restaurants. We love this area, this is where our roots are. We want to surprise and spoil our guests. We are far from finished with that! We love what we do immensely."
On the following pages, you will find three of Alberto's recipes.

Risotto is a rice dish from northern Italy and has become a true classic. The great thing about risotto is that it can go along with the seasons, because you can vary the ingredients endlessly. Even with few ingredients, you can easily serve up a delicious meal. This time we are making a delicious creamy risotto with veal tenderloin, wild mushrooms, and garden peas for four people. Veal tenderloin has a particularly fine, soft yet full flavour that makes it a perfect match for risotto.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Place plastic wrap over the veal tenderloin and pound it, such as with a meat mallet or saucepan, to flatten it slightly. Remove the plastic wrap. Place a piece of sage on each veal tenderloin. Then wrap the Parma ham around the veal tenderloin. Heat olive oil in a pan and fry the veal tenderloin, about 2 minutes per side, until golden brown. Now place the veal tenderloin in an oven dish and put it in the oven for four minutes.
Dice the onion and finely chop the garlic. Drizzle olive oil in a pan and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent. Add the risotto to the pan and sauté briefly, but ensure that it doesn't brown. Deglaze the risotto with the white wine and let it evaporate while stirring. Add half of the vegetable stock and simmer gently. Continue to stir well so that the risotto does not stick. When the broth is absorbed, add the other half of the broth. Let this simmer again gently until the liquid is absorbed and the rice grain is almost cooked.
Meanwhile, in another pan, sauté the mushrooms and briefly add the garden peas. Spoon the vegetables and Parmesan cheese into the risotto. Season with salt and pepper to taste, if necessary. Turn off the heat and let stand, covered, for another 3 minutes. Ladle the risotto into plates and garnish with some Parmesan cheese.
Ingredients for 4 people
• 4 veal tenderloins (180 grams each)
• 4 slices of Parma ham
• 1 large sage leaf
• Cress (to garnish)
Risotto
• 400 grams risotto (Riso carnaroli)
• 1 white onion
• 1 clove of garlic
• 250 ml white wine (Bianco villa sarra or your favourite (dry) wine)
• 1 litre vegetable broth
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 100 grams of Parmesan cheese (+ a little for garnish)
• 150 grams of wild mushrooms
• 100 grams of garden peas
Bruschetta al pomodoro is a classic appetiser that is sure to please everyone. Perfectly crisp toast with the fresh, aromatic tomatoes are excellent as an appetiser or to pair with drinks. It is easy to make and can also be easily prepared in advance.
Quarter the tomatoes and remove the seeds and crown. Slice the tomatoes into small cubes. Clean the red onion and also dice it, the same size as the tomato. Next, slice the basil very finely. Be sure to slice, not chop, the basil. Combine the tomato, onion, and basil with the oil and add salt and pepper. Now let the mixture rest for 2 hours to allow the flavours to combine.
Now we are going to make the delicious crispy toast. Heat the oven tray to 150 degrees Celsius. Cut the bread into slices no more than 1 cm thick. Coat the bread slices with olive oil and place them on an oven tray covered with baking paper. Bake the toast for about half an hour until golden brown. Meanwhile, cut a clove of garlic in half. Immediately after the bread comes out of the oven, rub the slices with garlic. Let cool for a moment and serve with the delicious tomato tapenade.
Ingredients for 4 people
• 5 pomodoro tomatoes
• 1 red onion
• 2 to 3 tablespoons
Storage tip: The toast can be stored in a sealed container for 2 to 3 weeks. But usually, they don't last that long!
extra virgin olive oil Italy

Remove the basil leaves from the sprigs and finely chop the stems. Place the basil, half of the Grana padano, pine nuts, garlic, and lemon juice in a food processor until finely combined. Slowly add the oil to this and season with salt.
Then slice the bread with a serrated knife and spread the pesto in between. Sprinkle grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top. Then drizzle a little olive oil over it. Put the bread in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 8 minutes.
Ingredients for 4 people
• 75 grams of basil
• 60 grams of Grana padano
• 80 grams (grated) mozzarella

Cappuccino, ristretto, lungo, senseo, nespresso, latte... We have a sea of coffee choices. And we are also becoming our own at-home baristas. Each type of coffee has its own cup size. But how exactly does that work? Which cup does justice to your favourite brew?
Black coffee - Straight mug:
This is the most widely consumed type of coffee. Filter coffee or ground coffee beans with water. The capacity of such a cup of coffee is about 180-240 ml. A cup of coffee from a Senseo machine is about 200 ml.
For this coffee, the 250 ml straight mug or 300 ml Mug with ear is the best choice. Do you like a generous serving of coffee and could use all that caffeine? Then you can choose a Tulip mug 500 ml or Farmers' mug 500 ml.
Cappuccino - Cup and saucer:
The capacity of a cappuccino cup is also between 180-240 ml. It consists of an espresso with a milk foam layer. This drink is a favourite with the ladies. It is only drunk in the morning in Italy, we Dutch drink it all day long. A favourite cup for this is a 240 ml Cup and saucer.
Latte Macchiato - Premium Tumbler:
With a latte macchiato, the foam is on top of the coffee. You do this by pouring an espresso into a cup of warm milk foam. By pouring slowly, the milk layer is not yet mixed with the coffee. A latte macchiato is about 150 ml. It is nice to pour this in a tall glass or in a Premium tumbler 200 ml.
Espresso - Espresso cup:
Waking up with an espresso. The capacity of an espresso cup does not have to be much. The amount of coffee is often no more than 60 ml: it is only 1 sip of coffee. An espresso is made from dark roasted coffee beans. You drink it black and it is quite strong. Use the 90 ml Farmers' mug for this purpose.
Our mugs and ceramic tableware are:
• Dishwasher safe
• Suitable for microwave
• Suitable for the oven
• Suitable for the freezer
Ristretto - Tulip mug:
This highly concentrated coffee is the little brother of an espresso but has half the water. Because of this, a mini cup is more than sufficient. Consider a 90 ml Farmers' mug or the 70 ml Tulip mug.
Espresso Macchiato - Cup and saucer:
The ingredients for this coffee are: a 30-40 ml espresso topped with 20 ml of cold milk, which you then froth. An espresso macchiato goes nicely in Cup and saucer 130 ml.
Flat White - Farmers' Mug:
One shot of espresso and 120 ml of steamed milk make up a Flat White. The top foam layer of the milk is not used in this coffee. A 240 ml Farmers' mug lends itself well to this drink.
Americano - Mug with ear:
This is actually a diluted espresso. You take 1 espresso and mix it with about 90 ml of hot water. The story goes that American soldiers in World War II found the (Italian) espressos too strong and therefore added water. Take a generous mug or cup, such as the Mug with ear 300 ml.
Coffee with milk - Cup and saucer: The Dutch coffee with milk is made with 1 espresso, 240 ml to 300 ml of steamed milk and a few cm of milk foam. Plenty of milk! For this generous amount of coffee, use the large Cup and saucer 375 ml. The cup is wonderfully large, and you can fold your hands around it while you sip your coffee.

Hi! I'm Fleur. Married to my great love Emile. Together with our sons, James and Morris, we form a young family. Photography & styling is both my passion and my work. I enjoy what life has to offer: my family, tasty breakfasts, fine coffee moments with Bunzlau Castle cups and beautiful sunsets.

Bunzlau Castle pottery is strong, but not unbreakable. Have you dropped one of your favourite dishes? With the Japanese Kintsugi technique, you give the bowl, vase or plate a second life.
In disbelief, I looked down... There lay my adorable Bunzlau Castle Buttercup plate in pieces on the floor. Despite the fact that the pottery is virtually unbreakable, there were now 2 very large shards. My first reaction was: in the trash with it, but I couldn't throw the shards away and kept them.
In search of a clever and sustainable solution, I stumbled upon the Japanese art form Kintsugi on Pinterest. The art of restoring porcelain or ceramics using gold glue. The meaning of the word Kintsugi is "golden connection". In Japanese beauty theory, the marks of breakage and repair contribute to the beauty of an object. Imperfections are allowed to be seen! Scars make an object special, making it a unique work of art. After some additional research, I found out what it would take to give my plate a new lease at life. That turned out to be pretty easy. You never know when disaster will strike and you may find yourself holding shards of your favourite Bunzlau Castle pottery! Just in case: instructions for this elegant solution.
This gold glueing technique is a process that you need to take time for. You glue it together piece by piece. With each piece, wait for it to dry and use new glue.
• Epoxy glue (bison kombi/fast)
• Mica powder/gold powder (non-toxic gold powder also used for cosmetics)
• Gloves
• (Wooden) stirrers or ice cream sticks
• Brush
• Piece of cardboard or disposable tray
It is not recommended to serve food directly from your gold-glued Bunzlau Castle. What it can be used for:
• Turn a cup into a fun plant pot.
• Hang the plate on the wall.
• Show off the dish somewhere with shells or pebbles.
• Use the plate as a serving dish for dry food items such as cookies and chocolates.

Method:
1. Make sure you know how to puzzle together the pottery to be glued. Lay it out in the right order before you start and take a picture if necessary. 2. Take a disposable tray or piece of cardboard and squeeze a generous teaspoon of epoxy glue in equal parts onto it. Add a pinch of mica powder and mix well until evenly mixed. The amount of glue depends on the size of the shard. 3. Using a stirrer, apply the gold glue evenly to 1 side of the break. 4. Wait a few minutes for the glue to dry slightly. You can use the stirrer to touch the glue on your cardboard and check that it feels slightly sticky. Press the glued shard firmly into place. Hold these pieces together for a few minutes. You can see that a bit of glue is coming out from between the seam, that's the idea! 5. For extra sparkle, apply some more gold powder to the still sticky gold glue with a brush. The glue should not be overly liquid any more. 6. Repeat the above process per shard 7. Allow the gold glue to cure for 2 hours. Using a soft cloth, rub off any remaining gold powder. After 48 hours, the adhesive is fully cured.
Bunzlau Castle's mission statement is featured at the beginning of the magazine. How do Bunzlau Castle fans and partners interpret these words? Daphne
Engelke, owner of De Viltbloemist (The Felt Florist), chose a few and used them to tell about her life.
Daphne Engelke is mother of Pelle (17) and married to Marc. For years, she worked in various positions in healthcare. Until she changed course in 2018. For the benefit of her son, who has ASD, she then chose to spend more time at home. This also gave her the opportunity to turn her hobby into her work. With her company, The Felt Florist, she designs and creates flowers and bouquets from wool felt: 'Viltbloeiers', as she calls them, Felt Blossoms. A highlight? "For King's Day 2021, I made the bouquets for Queen Maxima and the three princesses."
"Making and designing Felt Blossoms is sincerely my greatest passion. I make them when I'm feeling good, and when I'm gloomy they cheer me up. On vacation I miss them, despite all the fun things we do. I get my inspiration from nature. I love to take long walks and then come back with a head full of ideas for new creations. I also find a lot of great things in flower shops. I dissect some of the flowers, then make a pattern for each petal. It's very special that I can make my money doing something I love most. Since 2021, I have my own studio space in Eindhoven. Here, I welcome clients and other entrepreneurs. I love to work with them to design a bouquet that totally suits them and their interior. In addition to designing and creating, I conduct workshops in my studio so that others can also experience the joy of creating felt flowers."
Made fairly
"My felt bouquets last for years. They retain their colour and shape because I work with one hundred percent wool felt. An incredibly durable material. I get my raw materials from close by, from the Netherlands or at least from within Europe. So that the distance is as short as possible and the burden on the environment is as minimal as possible. I have great difficulty with our culture of always wanting 'more'.
My company stands for a sincere choice, for a bouquet of flowers that you want to spend your money on and that you will still love in ten years. I wish everyone the joy of making conscious choices.
With me, you don't get a bulk product, but something that we collaborate on together, think about and that I give a lot of love and attention to. Personally, I buy a lot of second-hand items, sit on the same couch for years, and drink out of cups I've had for a long time but still like."
Sustainable relationships
"When my son went to high school, it was better for me to be home more often, so I quit my job. I was already making felt blossoms at that time, but started to professionalise my business so I could make a little more money with it. I am very grateful that I succeeded. Because I am self-employed, I can manage my own time. I can be there for my husband and son and the people around me at the times when it is needed. I work when I want to and can, and - only on occasion - when I have to. The relationships with my clients and other entrepreneurs with whom I work are also important to me. I want to give them a bouquet that they will love for a very long time. And to achieve that, I try to get to know them a little bit. In my collaborations with companies, I find it important that they have a similar vision of quality and sustainability. Bunzlau Castle, I think, is a leading example in this aspect."
Warm and cosy home
"I like to make people's lives a little bit easier. And I believe that's what I'm doing with my felt blossoms. Clients approach me for a variety of reasons. For example, they have a strong preference for certain seasonal flowers, are allergic to flowers but would like them in their home, or they are looking for a wedding bouquet that will last longer than that one day. I often ask people to bring a favourite vase. Such a beautiful vase becomes even more beautiful with the right bouquet in it. And vice versa. Thus, with two favourites, you create a decorative item that is permanent. I feel rich. Every day I get up happy because I think I have the most fun job there is."
Would you like to make your own felt creations?
Her new book "Felt Flowers, make the most beautiful flowers from wool felt" (Dutch) is full of DIYs, patterns, and plenty of colourful and inspiring images to get started yourself.

Your unique Bunzlau Castle collection says something about who you are, what you love. There is no one with the same composition, which is what makes your collection so special.
In "My Bunzlau Castle," four collectors talk about their passion for the dinnerware.
Why are you a fan of Bunzlau Castle products?
I love the beautiful colour blue, the huge selection of designs, and the good quality.
What is your favourite product and why?
My favourite product is the teapot, although I find "favourite product" hard to pinpoint. I am, in fact a fan
of the entire collection, each item is unique because of the colours and decor, but also because it is handcrafted. When I painted our kitchen blue, I was looking for blue coffee cups. I was instantly wowed by Bunzlau Castle and couldn't have imagined at the time that my entire dinnerware would slowly be replaced by this fabulous blue statement in my kitchen!

Why are you a fan of Bunzlau Castle products?
Bunzlau Castle is a delightful dinner service. It all matches and it looks so welcoming on the table!
What is your favourite product and why?
I have been a fan of Bunzlau Castle since I started dating my current

husband. My mother-in-law already had many of them. Farmers' mugs are a favourite. When my mother-inlaw passed away, I inherited her Bunzlau Castle mini tea set. I'm immensely proud of that, and proud to show it off in my cabinet. That's when I started collecting. And our collection continues to grow.
"I got the tea set from my mother-in-law."
"I was looking for blue coffee cups to go with my kitchen."

Why are you a fan of Bunzlau Castle products?
I discovered Bunzlau Castle when I was 12 years old at Theehuis Dennenoord in Vasse. There they serve all their products on Bunzlau Castle dinnerware. I made my first purchase at age 20 and now my cabinet is completely full. I'm still living at home so everything is neatly stored in the cabinet, as I really don't want to start using it until I live with my boyfriend. I now use a tea mug. I couldn't hold back anymore. I also have an Instagram page: kastjevolgeluk, because after all it is my little box of happiness. It's
fun to share my purchases, inspire people but most of all to see how other people use Bunzlau Castle products.
What is your favourite product and why?
My teapot from the Marrakesh collection. Because my 'Bunzlau Castle virus' all started at the tea house, I think this is a very fitting symbol. Of course, it also makes a great showpiece on the table. For years, I wavered in which design I would choose the teapot, until I came across the Marrakesh collection.
Why are you a fan of Bunzlau Castle products?
I grew up with Bunzlau Castle. My parents had it in the house and after moving into my own home I started my own collection. It brightens up your home and the quality is great.
What is your favourite product and why?
The espresso cup. I can really enjoy a cup of freshly ground espresso. The cup feels nice in the hand and if you preheat it, your coffee stays hot for a long time.

Our textiles are made from certified organic cotton. The overall development line takes place in Europe. By doing so, we want to take care of our local ecosystem and minimise water waste. Our manufacturers guarantee a safe working environment.

We believe that when you know a product is honestly made, you can enjoy it even more. At Bunzlau Castle, therefore, sustainability is one of the most important core values. An important part of sustainability is the choice of materials our products. But we think it is just as important to make good choices regarding production, people, and transport. By making sustainable choices in this area as well, we can really make a difference. For now and later.
We think it is important that the quality of our products is high, so that the product will have a long lifespan. The choice of materials plays an important role in this. We make realistic choices in this regard. For us, it is important that the products are suitable for daily use as well as for special occasions, without compromising on quality. Because a product that can last for years is also sustainable.
Bunzlau Castle dinnerware is made with raw materials from the area surrounding the factory. As many as seven different types of clay are used. The paint used to decorate the ceramics is made from natural materials. The different collections combine well with each other, and are therefore less susceptible to trends. This way, you can save the dinnerware for life.
For our kitchen, table, and home textiles, we find the choice of material incredibly important. Again, we deliberately choose to produce in Europe. The cotton is 100% organic, free of harmful substances and chemicals.
To give you as a consumer more certainty and clarity, many of our products have official OCS and/or GOTS certifications. This means that an independent party has inspected the entire chain. From the plantation to the wholesale.
The production is done with great care. Every detail has been thought through, and this is reflected in the products. All scraps created during production are reused. Pieces of fabric from kitchen and dish towels we use again to make oven mitts and potholders.
The factories have a biological waste-water treatment plant and the spinning plants run entirely on solar energy. The warehouse in Nijkerk is also gasless and runs on solar energy.
Before the product reaches your hands, many people have worked on it with love. We visit our factories regularly, so we have experienced the good working conditions first-hand. Child labour is strictly prohibited. Wages and working conditions throughout the chain are good and safe, again this has been verified by independent parties. That gives a great feeling.
As all of our products are produced in Europe, they don't have to travel as far to the Netherlands. With our warehouse centrally located in the Netherlands, we can deliver quickly. We ship our packages with DHL. They offset their CO2 emissions and guarantee climate-neutral delivery.
Thus, throughout the process, we consider the impact on people and the environment. From production and procurement to your doorstep.
