Welcome to May It’s voting time! This month is really important if you want a say in what happens in your town and community. On May 7th who will you choose for Mayor of Bedford and for your local councillors and, of course, the government elections too? Even if you are not politically minded, make sure you cast your vote; if you don’t, then forever hold your peace…! May is Mental Health Awareness week and it is vital to try and remove the stigma around discussing mental health issues. We find out how MIND mentoring can help on page 5, and take a look at the centre pages to read about CHUMS charity, who are doing all they can to raise funds to support mental health in children. UpRising also support the voices of young people and mental health with their Minds Alrite campaign. They encourage youths from all backgrounds to realise their potential and develop into leaders for the next generation. Read more on page 16. Also inside… La Rondine, suppliers of fine Italian cakes in Bedford, celebrate 30 years in business this year! Plan a day trip to Matlock, relax and get back in control with some hypnotherapy, read our review on an incredible skin peel and try your hand at this month’s recipe from The Pavilion! Well done to Pam Gomez, our competition winner for April! Thanks to our sponsor, La Piazza, for another fabulous Hamper – enter this month on page 6.

Mental Health Awareness Week
11th – 17th May
Y
our mental health ‘emotional health’ or ‘well-being’ is just as important as good physical health. Mental health is everyone’s business. We all have times when we feel down or stressed or frightened and most of the time those feelings pass. But sometimes they develop into a more serious problem and that could happen to any one of us. Everyone is different. Your mental health doesn’t always stay the same and can change as circumstances do and at different stages of your life.
There’s a stigma attached to mental health problems which means people feel uncomfortable and therefore don’t talk about them much. This May is Mental Health Awareness Week and by sharing we can understand and seek help and support and help to reduce the stigma.
Mind BLMK Mentoring can help Deborah’s Story shares with us how mentoring from MIND helped her… “I was first diagnosed with depression and anxiety at the age of 12 and have subsequently been diagnosed with my main long term condition, Borderline Personality Disorder. I first self-referred to Mind BLMK’s Mentoring Service in March 2014. From my previous experiences I knew that things were getting on top of me. I knew I was better off accessing help as soon possible, before things became harder. At that time there were many things, big and small in my life which were beginning to affect my mental health. I knew if I did not seek support then my long term goals would have to go back on hold, as I slipped back towards a very dark place. When I met my Mentor, I was asked to think about a goal I would like to work towards over our time together. My main goal was to apply for social housing as I felt it was time for me to live independently so we broke this down into more manageable smaller goals and my mentor supported me along the way. Thanks to the support I received from my Mentor I now feel confident enough to set myself achievable goals and I also know what to do when I am struggling. I am now the Manager of a local charity shop which is helping me to gain confidence. I’m feeling stronger and ready to live independently. I feel able to fully accept that even with long term mental health conditions, I’m a survivor.” If you would like to find out more about Mind BLMK’s Mentoring Service visit www.mind-blmk.org.uk Call: 01525 722284 Email: mentoring@mind-blmk.org.uk Like us on Facebook Follow us on Twitter Scan the WHOLE page to view videos, connect instantly to websites, social media and find hidden offers Magazine Layout CC.indd 5

alk into La Rondine and you will be greeted by the divine scent of vanilla in the air and buttery pastry cooking. Delicious speciality cakes are all baked on site in the kitchen whilst the lobby is often a busy hub as customers finalise their orders. Sav, the owner, runs a true family business. He started the business over 30 years ago in 1984 after running the original café in the Bus station from a young age. His brother in law was a pastry chef so together they bought a cake shop in Stanley Street. Three years later, his brother-in-law returned to Italy and Sav bought the current shop on Queen Street, off Tavistock Street. La Rondine has always supplied to the local and Italian community but many of their customers are also from the Indian and Bangladeshi community as Sav makes egg free and vegetarian cakes and he is happy to customise any baking to suit your needs. Nigel Slater, food writer and broadcaster, recently spent a day there and was very impressed by the authentic, handmade cakes; in particular the famous flaky Sfogliatella, a Neapolitan favourite. Try one of these shell like cakes alongside a strong Italian expresso simply divine! La Rondine also baked a 50th Anniversary cake for global brand, Toni and Guy and made the cover of the Toni and Guy international

magazine! They also made an enormous cake for the 2006 World Cup (which Italy won!) and the cake was shown on News 24! But Sav is still a very down to earth family man and businessman who does an incredible amount of local fundraising and charity work– the list is long but includes Bedford Hospital, St John’s in Moggerhanger, the Autistic Society and he helped raise funds for the Great Denham School sensory garden. Marlins, a special needs water activity club is another charity that is very close to his heart and with which he is deeply involved. La Rondine also support the Prebend Day Centre for the homeless and for the last 30 years, Sav and his family have baked cakes for their Christmas day party. The welcoming atmosphere at La Rondine is on a par with being in an Italian family kitchen with everyone joining in, working hard but enjoying themselves too and of course, making delicious cakes! So for your perfect celebration cake, why not pay them a visit and see the delights on offer for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

oanne Waine, of Calmpower Clinical Hypnotherapy in Kempston, specialises in stress, skin disorders, phobias, fear, overeating, compulsions, emotions, insomnia, relationship issues and the everyday common anxieties of life. She assists clients to achieve their highest potential to live their lives in the best way possible, has been in practice for almost 20 years and is fully qualified in a number of disciplines. Community Life’s Rebecca Baber went along to experience Joanne’s therapy. “Joanne was friendly and professional on the phone and for my session I was really hoping for some focus and help for me to move forward in a positive way. I wasn’t sure what to expect but she was welcoming, non-judgemental, reassuring and made me feel safe and comfortable. We chatted in a private area and she asked questions about my past relationships and work and then, through discussion, she encouraged me to come up with a list of values that would help define what I wanted from future work and relationships – these included friendships, achievement, love, money, communication and recognition. Joanne also used hypnosis – she put my feet on a stool and put a blanket over me, I closed my eyes and she relaxed me by telling me how each part of my body was heavy and more and more relaxed. She then spoke to me about how important each of my values were. It lasted about 20 minutes and after the first session, I felt more positive, relieved and empowered than I had done in months. I also felt in control again, had clarity and was not nearly as stressed! I was pleasantly surprised to feel this way and went away to make some decisions concerning work that I had been avoiding. I turned down two job offers and then a few days after seeing Joanne, I was offered a new job that was perfect for me! At my second session I told her about the changes and she didn’t seem surprised. She talked me through a spring clean of my head and I was able to clear out some of the thoughts that were fogging up my decision making. She helped me see that some of the guilt I carried from the past was very negative and helped me to remove this guilt and negativity using helpful visualisation techniques. I felt a huge confidence in Joanne and had kept an open mind with the whole experience, which is key. It was a very positive experience for both body and mind. I felt fabulous afterwards and my life is going in the direction I want it to. I’m back on track thanks to Joanne and would highly recommend anyone feeling lost or stuck to at least call and have a chat with her.”

A combined approach to treating M.E.
M
ay is National M.E. Awareness Month and ME (or chronic fatigue syndrome) is one of the most poorly understood illnesses. If you suffer from severe fatigue, with symptoms such as pain, brain fog, sleep problems and irritable bowel, then you may be suffering from ME. This illness is severely debilitating but it is not incurable.
Sorrel Pindar
Recent research has yielded information about changes in the immune system and in the mitochondria, the role of the stress response and the mechanism by which wastes and toxins are eliminated from the brain. So the science of ME has come a long way. Treatment for ME has to be multi-pronged. This is because ME affects many of the body’s organ systems, including the brain and nervous system, the digestive system and liver, the immune system and the hormonal system, especially the adrenal glands which produce the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol. Because M.E. is a multi-
system illness, successful treatment has to include nutritional support and stress management, along with manual therapy to help restore normal function to the body’s lymphatic system, which is the body’s natural waste disposal system. ME patients tend to have over-activity in the sympathetic nervous system, which induces sluggishness and eventually back-flow in the lymphatics. Without treatment, the lymphatics are unable to clear wastes and toxins from the tissues, which leads to muscle and joint pain, and to brain fog and short term memory problems. The Perrin Technique™ is a specialised osteopathic treatment which helps to get the lymphatics moving, allowing the body to clear wastes and toxins which have been accumulating in the tissues because of a sluggish lymphatic system. At Bedford Integrative Health Centre we offer the Perrin Technique, nutritional therapy and counselling to support your recovery. Please scan this page using Layar App to discover a special treatment offer and to view the video about the Perrin Technique

oth conditions cause pain around the outside of the elbow and often occur after overuse of the muscles and tendons of the forearm, near the elbow joint.
You may notice pain on the outside of your upper forearm, just below the bend of your elbow, when lifting or bending your arm, gripping small objects, twisting your forearm or turning a door handle or opening a jar. You may also find it difficult to fully extend your forearm.

Tennis elbow is usually caused by overusing the muscles attached to your elbow and used to straighten your wrist and if the muscles and tendons are strained, tiny tears and inflammation can develop near the bony lump on the outside of your elbow, causing pain. It can start with a dull ache on the outside of the elbow and just pressing on the elbow can hurt. As the name suggests, tennis elbow is sometimes caused by playing tennis but it’s often caused by other activities that repeatedly stress the joint. Pain on the inner side of the elbow is often known as golfer’s elbow and causes more of a shooting sensation down the forearm when gripping objects. Both conditions are caused by overuse and both are forms of tendonitis. Conventional treatments include cortisteroid injections, analgesics, exercise, rest and even surgery but Chinese acupuncture and massage can help considerably to relieve the pain associated with these conditions. Deep massage helps to reduce pain, improve blood flow to the surrounding area and prevent the formation of scar tissue and adhesions in the connective tissue. Acupuncture will stimulate nerves located in muscles and other tissues which release endorphins. The positive effect in combating pain and symptoms can be quicker and also last longer than other treatments. Acupuncture was originally used to relieve pain and aims to keep the body’s yin and yang balanced, encouraging good energy flow through stimulating specific points in the body. First team meeting of the day– quick review of the tasks and out the door by 8.30 for the 9am meeting with the client to discuss an event that she wants fully hosting. 09.50hrs a client calls; she needs a mobile hairdresser with availability this weekend. Raising Awareness of Children’s Mental Health
CHUMS need you!

T
o coincide with Mental Health Awareness week in May, CHUMS Child Bereavement, Trauma & Emotional Wellbeing Service, your local community service - is putting on a week of fun and fundraising to help raise awareness of children’s mental health and asking our lovely supporters to get involved too. So have a bake sale at school, a dress down day at work, or take part in a sponsored run. No activity is too small, or too big! Lib Dem Minister of State for Care and Support – Norman Lamb - recently stated that children’s mental health has been chronically underfunded for decades, which contradicts the government’s promise to put mental and physical healthcare on an equal footing. 1 in 10 children and young people aged 5 -16 suffer from a diagnosable mental health problem – which is around 3 children in every class. Rates of mental health problems among children also increase as they approach adolescence. CHUMS focusses particularly on early intervention to support the mental health needs of local children and young people. Sadly more than half of all adults with mental health problems were diagnosed in childhood, but less than half were treated appropriately at the time. People often come to us saying that their lives would have been so different if a service like CHUMS had been available when they were growing up. They have often fought long battles on their own and have become extremely vulnerable. 24
The Office for National Statistics figure for Central Bedfordshire estimates that there are 3,540 school age children (5-16 years old) suffering from a diagnosable mental health disorder. This represents approximately 10% of children.
Big Fundraising Week CHUMS’ big fundraising week aims to raise awareness of the variety of services CHUMS provides to promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in children in our community. The money you help to raise will go towards helping us continue to provide support for children and young people affected by bereavement, trauma and a variety of emotional wellbeing difficulties across Luton & Bedfordshire. We are very much looking forward to hearing about all of your fantastic fundraising ideas, and want to say a big thank you in advance to everyone getting involved. Money raised during the week will be spent in our Trauma Service – providing specialist 1:1 support for children who have either been traumatically

Our Vision ‘Sharing the Journey- Creative support to enable positive and fulfilling lives’
Our Values bereaved or who have suffered a trauma such as sexual abuse or witnessing domestic violence. Help may need to be extensive in order to “process” the trauma in a safe way. Our second funding priority is the therapeutic Recreational Service which has been producing excellent outcomes for children who couldn’t previously engage with 1:1 talking therapies. CHUMS is passionate about making a lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
‘We are united in our belief that all children and young people deserve the best we can give’
More information will be available on our website as the week draws closer – www.chums.uk.com - but in the meantime CHUMS encourages you all to get thinking as to how you can help us make the week our most successful fundraising period yet. CHUMS is a community interest company, which means that profit is reinvested back into the service. All money raised will support local children and young people in our community. experience is easy to tolerate and smells amazing, it is very powerful and the aftercare must be strictly followed. Lifestyle, age and current skin condition and skincare regime all have an effect on how each person responds. My skin is fairly normal, I use a facial wash, cleanse, tone and moisturise daily with the occasional scrub and use a good night cream. Using Image skincare products previously can certainly help the results.
The Treatment
Fresher, brighter, healthy skin...
C
ommunity Life Editor, Teresa Brooks, was invited to experience the Vitamin C Signature Peel at the Skincare InsideOut clinic based in Riseley where they are passionate about healthy skincare.
What is a peel? Peels work at a deep cellular level to help regenerate new skin through the exfoliation process, leaving it instantly, tightened, brightened, nourished, calm and healthy. I tried the Vitamin C Peel, a revolutionary brightening and exfoliating peel which blends potent Vitamin C, camomile, green tea andfruit enzymes to boost dry and dehydrated skin It is suitable for most skin types including sensitive, pregnant and rosacea prone skin. Containing Polypeptides to assist collagen renewal and with an Aloe Vera carrier base, it is very gentle compared to many others so is a good ‘prep-peel’ for the skin, should you need stronger peels later on. This is a medical grade treatment and whilst the 26
• The peel is fined timed procedure and lasts approx. 20-30 minutes. • Firstly, a strong cleanse and degreaser to break down the dead skin cells; here I can feel a slight tingling. • The peel itself (which smells amazing) is massaged firmly in • The clinical exfoliating scrub is applied and massaged in on top; felt tingling; a little like sunburn. • More peel is added followed by the enzyme mask and finally, it is all washed off. • The Vitamin C anti-ageing serum is applied along with an eye gel. • The peel itself was stimulating during the treatment but enjoyable. The aftercare pack is included and these are the only products that should be used for the next 5 days.
The Results Immediately after the treatment, my skin was clear and glowing with no redness. After 3 days, I experienced some dryness around my cheeks and under my eyes but not much flaking. I found that I needed some extra moisture around my eyes. After around 10-14 days, my skin was rehydrated and fresh and after 3 weeks, I was delighted to have smooth, soft and visibly refreshed skin. Fine lines appeared lighter and my make-up went on really well. I am 100% happy with the results and I would highly recommend this treatment for anyone who wants to rejuvenate or refresh tired skin and reduce fine lines. A full consultation is required before every treatment to assess if the peel is suitable and appropriate for your skin and where full pre and post treatment guidelines are discussed. www.skincareinsideout.co.uk or call Susan on 07711 787767 Church Lane, Riseley, Bedfordshire MK44 1ER

en uniformed organisations from Bedfordshire took over part of Bedford Town Centre in April to showcase some of the great opportunities available for young people. Bedfordshire Youth United was launched in October 2104 by Helen Nellis, the Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire. The event was attended by The High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, The Countess of Erroll, who spent time talking with the young people and adult volunteers from the organisations. She said “It is great to see the wide range of opportunities there are for young people in our County. Being involved will help them learn and develop valuable skills that will help them in their careers and in life generally.”
The organisations involved in Bedfordshire Youth United are Air Cadets, Army Cadets, Boys Brigade, Fire & Rescue Cadets, Girl Guiding, Girls Brigade, Police Cadets, Scout Association, Sea Cadets and St John Ambulance.

ork on two new properties have started recently, bringing the total number of grants approved for the Bedford Borough Council led THI scheme to nine. No.99 was most recently occupied by Mario’s Fish Bar, and No. 101 was most recently occupied by Jinx clothing. The partnership between the owners of the two properties helps to reduce costs and save valuable time achieving a unified shop front design. This twin project will reinstate part of the historic stone colonnade that used to be grand features of this terrace of properties. It is understood that they were built by George Handscombe Miller in the early 1860’s. Historic records show they housed William Warning, a grocer and Mrs Maria Merrie’s toy warehouse in the 1890’s; electrical and radio engineers, coal merchants and boot and shoemakers in the early 1900’s; followed by Singer sewing machines and K Shoe Shop in the 1970’s. The works will be carried out by contractor The English Listed Building Company and the contract administered by Bedford based MK40 architects. The grant funded work contributes to THI efforts to lift the visual appeal of High Street and support Bedford businesses.

Matlock Bath in a day!
Countryside-near-Matlock-Bath
J
ust a two hour drive from Bedford takes you away from the hub of it all and into the breathtaking countryside of Derbyshire.
Matlock is nestled alongside the Derwent River in the beautiful Peak District National Park in a steep and beautiful gorge that only the most foolhardy climbers try to scale. It was in 1698 that three medicinal springs were discovered here and soon afterwards the first ‘bath’ was devised and constructed. It was made of wood and lined with lead and it was this that gave Matlock ‘Bath’ its name. It developed as a spa town in the nineteenth century and along with the fresh air, fabulous scenery and prosperous visitors it became very fashionable. The rows of Victorian terraced houses built with lime stone file neatly up the hill and overlook stunning views across to Riber Castle, Black Rock and Alport Heights. Browse the delightful antique shops in Matlock, enjoy the beautiful gardens then walk 15 minutes along the river to the popular tourist resort of Matlock Bath. It now has a very modern ‘café culture’, but you can still get great fish and chips and afternoon tea. Often on a Sunday you will be amazed by the hundreds of motorbikes lined up along the ‘front’ 30
in Matlock Bath as the spectacular road that winds along the Derwent is very popular with bikers.
Where to visit Cable cars will whisk you up to the Heights of Abraham which is a purpose built, hill top attraction on top of Masson Hill, overlooking Matlock Bath and here you will find a café and restaurant; children’s play area, a viewing tower and a rocks and gems shop. Underground tours of Masson and Rutland caverns are included in your return cable car fee and should not be missed. Don’t forget your cameras as the views across the Derwent Valley are magnificent. Matlock Bath is also the home to Gullivers Kingdom theme park, set up on the hill side, designed for families with children aged between 2 and 13. It includes a log flume and at an altitude of 629 feet (overlooking a valley some 300 feet below) and there’s not another log flume in Europe with views like this one! Parking is free and there is a travellator and a chairlift, which is buggy friendly, to transport you from the bottom to the top of the theme park.

Tips y Diane Cla
POLYANTHUS, PRIMROSES AND GOOD VALUE PLANTS
M
y ‘good value’ plants are the ones which are easy to grow, improve the look of the garden all year or which come up every year without much attention. It always cheers me up to see these emerging in Springtime.
Polyanthus (which flower at the top of a stalk) and Primroses (which flower at ground level) can bloom for 7 months of the year, from autumn to May/ June. They do well in the ground and are widely used in tubs and bedding schemes in town centres and gardens (please scan this page using Layar App to see the pictures on the slide show). Their wide range of wonderful colours, extreme hardiness, and reasonable prices, make them popular. From May the space in tubs will be needed for summer bedding. Polys need shade in summer so plant them under shrubs or put them in large pots in shade. Water and feed them and they will flower again in autumn and spring. When planting summer bedding, wait until mid-May as frost can kill plants. Evergreen Euonymus are also very good value. Slow growing and compact, their leaf colours are in combinations of green, white and yellow, some tinged with pink in winter. They withstand frost and drought and look especially good in spring, with leaves in brighter colours, which complement the yellows, blues and purples of spring plants perfectly. Their smart appearance all year round makes them ideal for front gardens and positions near doors and windows. Tulips are also easily grown but they sometimes stop flowering. The answer is to water them well and feed with Fish, Blood and Bone. Simple varieties, with ‘egg shaped’ blooms, flower better after the first year than
doubles or Parrot types. Buy in autumn and plant them in pots near the house, then move to gaps in the garden after flowering. Early, mid and late flowering tulips give colour from March to May. Damp shade does not suit many plants but Dicentras and Astilbes thrive there. ‘Bleeding Heart’ (Dicentra spectabilis) has ferny, bronze leaves which emerge in April. These can reach 18 inches or more and have red, heart shaped flowers hanging from their arched stems. There is also a white flowered form (alba) which has lime green foliage and pure white ‘hearts’. Both are very pretty and stay in flower for about 6 weeks, then disappear completely (like daffodils) but, if placed close behind Astilbes which flower a few weeks later, the gap will not be noticed. Astilbes bloom with feathery flowers of white, pink or red and are very hardy and long flowering. Enjoy growing these ‘good value’ and gorgeous looking plants.

“
“If I knew then what I know now…” H ow many times in our lives do we look back and wonder how things might have been if we’d done them differently? Financial planning is just one area in which many people wish they’d had the benefit of hindsight. But in reality, there are some basic rules that can help most people wanting to achieve financial security. Three of these are to spend less than you earn, protect against disasters and invest wisely. It’s very difficult to argue against these. However, although seemingly obvious and straightforward, they’re not always that easy to achieve. Spend less than you earn At various stages in life we experience unavoidable strains on our income. But, if we’re serious about planning for our future, we need to put something away today. How will we have money to spend in our later years if we don’t start saving while we’re actually earning? Protect against disasters Protection means ensuring that the right money is available at the right time; when it’s needed most. We all hope to live long and healthy lives, but sometimes people fall ill, suffer critical illnesses or even die too soon. Pre-emptive planning can help ensure that individuals and their families are not financially compromised should the worst happen.
Spend less than you earn The final rule is to invest wisely. An effective investment strategy means keeping ‘rainy day’ emergency money separate from the funds you commit to longer-term financial objectives. Keeping them separate lets you avoid the potential problem of having to dip into your long-term fund at ‘the wrong time’; that is, when markets are suffering their inevitable short-term fluctuations. This approach will leave you free to invest your longer-term fund in assets more capable of providing the rising income and capital growth needed for a more secure financial future. For many, ‘financial planning’ or ‘wealth management’ sound like very daunting concepts, but getting professional advice and remembering these three simple rules can help you start to ‘see the woods for the trees’. None of us have “enough time” in our lives, but occasionally some time invested today can make such a difference in the future.

TAURUS: April 21 - May 21 The cards show lots of rushing around for Taureans this month, with little sleep but with an exciting aspect to life which makes this easier to cope with. Happiness for younger people and with younger people who are able to fulfill more of what they want makes this month a good one for Taurean parents. A small break towards the beginning of the month allows the Taurean mind to settle problems more quickly than normal.
GEMINI: May 22 - June 21 Gemini Subjects can expect work issues to be a little demanding as the month starts, but new ways forward show as possible towards the end of the month. Part of the reason for this would seem to be a lack of straightforward communication, so the advice would be to tell it as it is, rather than expecting people to work out what they should know by actions. Very few can read minds!
CANCER: June 22 - July 22 A feeling of being loved up and looking forward to commitment shows around some of those who have waited for one particular person to show how they really feel this month. The warmer weather and the sunshine brings out the best in partners and loved ones this month, however there is a warning with money to take things easy this May and look well before leaping into something expensive and long term.
LEO: July 23 - August 23 New experiences show as fulfilling and exciting for Leos this month. After grappling for months with one small problem after another, this May shows as a time when Leos can let down their guard and really begin to enjoy the start of the warm weather and the outdoors, rather than feeling shut in and waiting for the next issue to show itself. Some kind of study, or class shows up as a further new path to follow.
VIRGO: August 24 - September 22 Working at something new to overcome a feeling of gloom and despondency which had settled subconsciously with Virgos shows as a strong probability this month. While some of the ways forward are show as a little stressful, overall when the third week of the month comes in the general feeling is of success and being more valued for both who you are and your contribution to other people’s lives. 36

LIBRA: September 23 - October 23 A month where other countries beckon constantly, despite the feeling of difficulty with taking time abroad. This may be to do with new people entering the Libran lifestyle, and bringing different thoughts and values to the surface. It also may be that long awaited trek across the other side of the world becoming more of a reality than a dream.
SCORPIO: October 24 - November 22 A fair haired woman shows as making a difference to many Scorpios this month, she is a good communicator and would show ways forward to those willing to explore new workplaces, or new groups for contact and friendship. There are also a great deal of creative cards shown for this star sign for May, warnings or heralding signs of pregnancy or new lifestyles.
SAGITTARIUS: November 23 - December 21 Sagittarians are warned to beware of jealous or controlling feelings which could be overwhelming this month. This shows as beginning through a feeling of losing out to others and having little choice on how to deal with it. The cards advise that it would be better to sit back and let the situation settle down, rather than rushing headlong into difficulties because the situation was not understood correctly. Take a deep breath and count to 100 before reacting.
CAPRICORN: December 22 - January 20 Capricorns are shown as capable as working well under stress, as a general part of their lives, but this month shows that they stress through lack of adrenalin, rather than too much, for a change. Therefore this would be the month to make new plans for the future, or to take on a new challenge, to keep the flow within the normal levels.
AQUARIUS: January 21 - February 18 Money looks better this month for those born under the sign of Aquarius. But although more comes in it looks like more goes out, so the advice is to keep a little common sense when something is seemingly necessary for happiness. The cards advise to remember the last buy which went into a cupboard never to be seen again, and to save any extras for a special time later in the year.
PISCES: February 19 - March 20 Successful ventures show for those with work problems, this May, so this would be the time to look for new work and build up self-confidence and hopes for the future. Strong influences show from something which is a past type of work, or a past employment coming back into the lives of Pisceans this year, the seed of which looks to be planted this month.
ARIES: March 21 - April 20 A time to enjoy the good times and the good things in life, this summer shows as showing happier ongoing times for Aries subjects after some really difficult times earlier in the year. This month seems to show the way forward, both in relationships with loved ones and work. Enjoy it.
