Questions for an EA

The old method of testing in the lodge was by Question and Answer—few do this today but it was also a method used to confer the degrees. Here a set of questions with answers on P. 27:

 Name the 4 cardinal virtues.  What are the working tools of an EA?  Where were you first prepared  What are the great lights?  What does the VSL teach?  What is the position of the square & compasses?  What does the first part of the EA sign signify?  What are the chief supports of a freemason?  Name these  What are the grand principles of a freemason?  Why does the EA wear a plain white apron?  Why is the carpet B & W?  How is a lodge situated?  What must all regular freemasons believe in?  When tis the SW’s column upwards?  What jewel does he wear?  Why is the new apprentice called an EA?  Where does the JW sit?
