Division Banquet

The Division Banquet was a huge success, well attended and wellplanned! A variety of awards were given out, we heard a speaker from the March of Dimes, and there was some great entertainment. After the serious business of the evening was done, we enjoyed a pasta dinner and then had a wonderful time dancing!

Club Re National Pancake Day | Annaleigh Nguyen On March 7, 2017, Montgomery High School’s Key Club went to the IHOP near our school and helped out with the big dinner rush. In order to participate and help, our Kiwanis Advisor contacted the restaurant’s manager to make sure it was okay to have us there. The restaurant was more than thrilled to have some help! We rolled utensils into napkins and then brought them to customers as they sat down at their tables. It was a ton of fun and even our Kiwanis Club came to eat some free pancakes and donate to the Children’s Miracle Network as well as to see us work.

M Honoring Rick | Atziry Rodriguez Our Cloverdale Key Club Board decided to donate $500 to help our Kiwanis club place a Rick Cummins Memorial Bench on our CHS campus. We wanted to help our Kiwanis with the cost, so they wouldn’t have to pay so much, because they do so much for us; so it was a nobrainer to help them out. The bench they are planning to put on campus is costing about $1500! We also wanted to honor Rick, who was such a great man, with such a caring heart. We miss him, and we want his memory to keep living on. We are very happy that we can help make this happen.

March Update |Lauren Lau

Since we did our officer elections last month, this month we had our first Board meeting with the officer-elects. The current officers told the newly elect officers some of their duties and what to expect at the upcoming Officer Training Conference. We discussed upcoming events and we are planning our home club banquet for the new officers, retiring officers, and new members. We are going to hold some bake sales in front of Safeway to raise money for our lub and to help members pay for DCON. The members created posters in the library for the bake sale. We started the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraiser by placing boxes in lassrooms and small stores.

Spotlight on Service This month's Spotlight on Service is March of Dimes! Prematurity is the #1 killer of babies in the United States. March of Dimes works to change that and help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. From polio to prematurity, the March of Dimes has focused on researching the problems that threaten children, and on finding ways to prevent those problems. Their main mission is to fight premature births while having a community impact.

e: March for Babies! FUNDRAISING FOR MARCH FOR DIMES Danayeat Abraha | Montgomery Since April is here your home club should finalize your plans to fundraise and raise awareness for the cause! A great way is to have you club volunteer at the March for Babies event, which is being held on April 22md in Santa Rosa at Howarth Park (630 Summerfield Rd, This event helps raise money for the March of Dimes. A great way to help before April 22nd is to spread awareness to your community. Hand out flyers or have a rally at your school where you can help raise the amount of money that you donate on that day! Last year I remember going at the crack of dawn to help set up. Some Key Clubbers helped set up the course and organize T-shirts, while others helped make the balloon arch for the start and finish line. Our hands we so frozen from the cold that it took us all so long to make it, but I remember the event being a success and an amazing experience! I encourage you all to attend this year. They will need help, starting at 6 a.m. and going until about noon. In addition, if your club donates to the cause, you can actually walk in the march!
