Examples of Pages

Example

You need to have someone reliable taking pictures of activities and then display them onto the pages in ways that are visually attractive.

Remember to always follow graphic standards. You can download templates like these pages from off the International website.

Then, of course, you can add information about what your club is doing to celebrate the week. The International website url is: www.keyclub.org.

As can be seen, there is a lot of leeway for creativity in how you put together your pages. As long as you use “Graphics Standards”, and include the suggested information, you can be as creative as you desire. You need to figure out what kind of “blend” of information and pictures works for you and your club. Also, whether or not you print out the document or put It on-line in a magazine format will impact how much color you use, an how much information you put on each page.

Being a Club Webmaster

Creating a website for “free” is possible. Unfortunately, the site provider is then allowed to put popups and advertisements on your site. If you want your site to be exclusively dedicated to your club’s business, then you will need to pay an annual fee. This fee is usually only about $30, though. So, it’s affordable for most clubs.

Tips for the club webmaster:  Create the site during the summer time  Traditionally it takes 50-100 hours to create the site, depending upon how in-depth you want it to be.  Suggested tabs across the top should include: o Home o About Us o Members o Multimedia o Contact Us  You need a good photographer o Pictures should be uploaded within 48 hours of any event  This means continued updating on the site  A responsible person, willing to spend regular time on the site, should be put in charge  If you don’t have a webmaster, then a Vice President should take charge of this responsibility.  The “Home” page should be constantly updated and provide links to information found in other sections, depending upon what is immediately important for the members to know.  Some pages, like the “Contact Us” can be created in the summer, and probably never changed for the rest of the year.  What you include in the “About Us” section is really up to you.

Take some workshop time to go on-line and view the Cloverdale website, as it follows the suggested website guidelines: www.cloverdalekeyclub.com Did you know that there is a Cali-Nev-Ha website contest? To enter it, you need to submit your website address to the district, usually in early October. The LTG & Region Advisor will remind all clubs about the submission deadline, when the time draws near. Don’t forget‌.the rules for graphics standards apply for websites, too!

What about a Facebook site for your club?

Facebook can be a useful club communication tool, as long as your members are willing to “join or like your site. Someone will need to invite all members to join & then be in charge of sending out messages. Facebook works even better if an officer/leader makes INDIVIDUAL contacts when needed.
