IV.

Casa Grande- They have been working with Christmas Cheer. They have been buying toys and supplies for the needy. Cloverdale- They made Finals Survival Kits to raise money for the Eliminate Project, and they are doing Coats for Kids. Plus theydid a lot of activities in December with their Kiwanis. Healdsburg-They are planning with their Kiwanis to hold a Valentine’s Bake Sale. Humboldt- They have been working at an old folk’s home. They have been visiting their Kiwanis clubs. They sent toys to needy kids. They are planning a hot dog fundraiser. Lower Lake-Absent Maria Carrillo- They sent candy cane grams at Christmas time. They raised $325 to go to the Eliminate Project! McKinleyville- Absent Montgomery- They have been going to the Food Bank. They are putting together a Valentine’s fundraiser. Piner- They had a bake sale for UNICEF. They have been helping the disabled; and they have been focusing on raising money for District Convention. Santa Rosa- They worked at the Boys and Girl’s club. They are working on a Special Olympics activity with their school. Sonoma Valley- They did a Kris Kringle gift exchange. Windsor- They worked with Kiwanis on a gift give away; they did gift wrapping and pie a Key Club member, and they used that money to make homeless care packages.

Unfinished Business • Club officer elections- Piner and Sonoma Valley have already held their elections. Harlin spent some time explaining the CNH officer Service Agreement forms. You need to complete 50+ hours, attend 6+ DCM’s. You need to attend either the Region Training Conference or the Officers Training Conference, or both!@ It is highly recommended to go to. There is a Service Agreement Form specific for each position. The newly elected club secretaries will be asked to record, (in an on-line form), their club’s contact information for all newly elected officers. The new Lt. Governor-elect will be contacting current club presidents, soon, to start the recording process. • District Convention- Send your estimated DCON attendance to The Region Advisor, Sue Cummins by February 3rd. It is $20 less if you arrive later on Friday. We showed a DCON video to promote it. It is highly recommended to show a video at your own club. DCON is April 8th-10th, in Sacramento. There are tons of opportunities for information and you learn how to lead while in any position. There is a “mobile app” for it this year. For more information view the online PowerPoints. There are two of them, and they can be found on the Region 15 website at the bottom of the Home Page, at www.keyclubregion15.weebly. com. There will be a day in the division where we go through everything you need to know. It is $340 if you bring your own club chaperone. Each club must arrange their own transportation. To ride the train as a division would be $75 more per person. We took a vote and no one wanted to add the extra money. Your Kiwanis club should be supporting you (suggested $115 per student

attendee). Connect with your Kiwanis clubs and tell them why you want to go to DCON. You need to pay the $209 by February 10th. But you still need to pay $131 to Sue by April 3rd. GO TO OUR WEBSITE AND THE DCON SECTION TO LEARN EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THE EVENT AND OUR PLANNED ACTIVITIES. Key Leader- You can register online now. All forms, details and a link to the registration site are under “Member Resources” on our Region 15 website. Contact Sue about getting a $35 scholarship. The dates of this year’s Key Leader are April 22-24. The total is $225 and $175 for a facilitator. Depending on your Kiwanis club they may pay for all of it. Division Judging Update- Maggie gave a report. She is awaiting an email back from the people she contacted on Thursday. She wants to meet up with everyone at a location- and everyone must bring a Laptop. If you are one of the assigned club representatives for this project, PLEASE RESPOND to her e-mail. Fundraising for Eliminate- Santa Rosa, Montgomery and Maria Carrillo will be turning in money, still. Cloverdale and Piner turned in money by December 31st, in time to receive a patch for their club banner. Mora and Daniela, from Montgomery, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the Eliminate Project. The PowerPoint will shortly be on the website under “Member Resources”. There is already an “Eliminate” section there, with lots of information about the cause, and directions on how to turn in money fundraised. Montgomery shared some vases and mugs that they are selling for Valentine’s Day to raise money for the Eliminate cause.

New Business • Conclave- We passed out literature for our one candidate. Fatima Aguilar was the only person to run- so she was voted into the LTG position. Here are some highlights of her speech. She mentioned her unique schedule with three afternoons a week being “free” to work on Key Club, as needed. She joined Key Club her sophomore year and became incredibly involved. She wanted something challenging, which is why she wished to be LTG. She wanted to push herself. She loves helping people. She started to understand herself better because of Key Club. She wants to help more people become educated about Key Club. She wants a stronger feeling of friendship between Kiwanis and Key Club. She wants a strong “Ohana”, or family feeling for our region. She wants more attendees to DCMs. She is very flexible with her schedule so she will visit more clubs. She wants us all to know each other really well. She wants a bigger Division Leadership Team with EVERY club represented. She wants to start more Key Clubs to expand our Division. Ukiah and Elsie Allen are possibilities. She has been involved in many other clubs so she has a huge amount of leadership experience. i. We held a vote of confidence. It was a unanimous decision in her favor. • Redwood Empire Food Bank Day- Saturday January 23rd. 3990 Brickway Blvd., Santa Rosa. 9 a.m. to noon. We hope to see a lot of our clubs represented. • March of Dimes- Prematurity is the number one killer of babies in the U.S. It has been on a steady decline in recent year, attributable to the efforts of the March of Dimes. We can have bake sales and pie a Key Clubber and many, many

more types of fundraisers to help them! You can even write letters to businesses and such. The PowerPoint that Angela, from Windsor, created will shortly be on the Region 15 website, where you see all her suggestions for ways to support the March of Dimes cause. This year’s March for Babies will be on April 23rd. The actual March starts at 9 a.m., but they often ask our Key Clubbers to be there to help them with set-up, starting at 6 a.m. We need any members who are not going to Key Leader that weekend to help with this event, as the March of Dimes relies upon us to help them run the Santa Rosa day! It is heartwarming to be there because you see babies who have been saved by this organization. AAA Recommendations for February- Sophie gave a presentation that is also posted on the website. Look under, “Member Resources” and find the bar that says, “Raising Your AAR Scores”. Some of the recommendations include: attending DCMs- we’re planning on holding a joint DCM with Division 8 in Napa at the end of February; completing officer elections by no later than February 3rd- make sure they sign officer Service Agreement forms; the new club Secretary must submit contact information to the new Lt. Governor for all the newly elected officers; register on time for DCON- send off your information on the 7th to get it in on time; hold a Board meeting to help the new Board transition into their positions and make plans for DCON; attend Kiwanis meetings to show you care; hold a fundraiser for DCON- tons of ideas on the website, etc.; meet the average goal of 5 service hours per member per month; hold a New Member Induction- honor your new members and give them the pins, certificates, membership cards and handbooks sent to you by Internationals-use official induction ceremony; do a club newsletter or write an article for Jessie for the Region Newsletter; start signing up for Key Leader; do something fun-host a bonding activity. Next Division Council Meeting- We are still discussing all the details. It will be one of the last weekends in February, probably in Napa. It will be a joint DCM with members from Division 8. Division Banquet- March 12th Disney-themed. Put this into your calendars.

VI.

Joint Session with Kiwanis and Lunch • A Powerpoint slideshow was presented by Ms. Cummins and Harlin about all of our 2015-16 activities. During the slideshow, we presented thank you gifts to our Kiwanis and did a candle ceremony of recognition and thanks to them for all they’ve done for us.
